Lord Alan Sugar: I’m not a bully

Lord Alan Sugar has hit back at claims that he is a "bully".
The businessman has denied accusations that he behaves like a "bully" on the BBC One show, 'The Apprentice'.
When asked about his way of delivering bad news, Lord Sugar replied: "I don't flower my words. If someone is useless, I'll tell them. If someone has done a good job, I'll also tell them.
"Identifying a truth is not bullying."
He then added: "No one likes to be told a home truth. Many times I tell them in a very nice way, actually. Just before they get fired, I explain to them that they're not ready for this process but they should carry on what they are doing.
"There are others who both I and the audience are very annoyed with and who perhaps deserve a bit of bringing down to earth."
The business mogul then reiterated that he is a fair boss to the people who work for his various companies.
He told Radio Times magazine: "You have to look at my history. People would have reported it if lots of people were taking me to tribunals. Speak to my employees. I've got people here who have worked for me for 35 to 40 years. They work for me because they enjoy working for me."

Michaela Strachan feels ‘perky’ following double mastectomy

Michaela Strachan is feeling "perky" after her breast reconstruction procedure following a double mastectomy to treat her breast cancer.
The 'Springwatch' presenter revealed that she is "feeling great" after having the surgery to reconstruct her breasts, after having a mastectomy to remove the cancerous cells.
Michaela announced her decision to have the life-saving surgery in an article in You magazine, but talking on ITV's 'Lorraine' this morning (07.10.14), she revealed that she is feeling better.
She told the show: "I'm feeling great. I wrote that article for You magazine myself six weeks ago and since then I have had reconstruction so I am feeling 'perky'."
The 48-year-old television presenter did admit that she had been worried after receiving her diagnosis because she thought that the cancer might have spread to her back.
She told Lorraine: "I had terrible back pain from doing [the reality show] 'Splash' and I thought maybe that's not just 'Splash' maybe I've got secondary cancer and maybe I'm not going to make it - all those thoughts go through your head and it is a very frightening time."
However, once she was given the option to have the mastectomy, Michaela revealed that she took a no-nonsense approach.
She shared: "I was terribly pragmatic about it. Once I got over the shock then it was practical, 'OK, when can we fit it in?'"
Michaela also praised her "brave" partner Nick Chevallier - who tragically lost his first wife to colon cancer - for his support, before adding: "I am so blessed that they found it early."

Lord Alan Sugar doesn’t lose any sleep over The Apprentice sackings

Lord Alan Sugar doesn't lose any sleep over firing candidates on 'The Apprentice'.
The 67-year-old business magnate has confessed he doesn't fail to get a good night's sleep after sending potential future partners home on the BBC One reality series because he claims they bring it on themselves.
Quizzed on whether the friction in the boardroom ever keeps him awake at night, he said: "I don't have any sleepless nights, no. It's friction amongst them isn't it? It's not friction for me."
And Lord Sugar's right hand man Nick Hewer - who along with Karren Brady follows the candidates as they attempt to complete various business tasks in a bid to win a £250,000 investment - certainly hasn't been losing out on sleep either, as he's admitted it was exhausting trying to keep up with all 20 of them.
Referring to the decision to have 20 candidates rather than the usual 16 in celebration of the 10th anniversary, Nick said at 'The Apprentice' launch at London's Ham Yard Hotel: "It makes life very difficult for those following them. When you try and follow ten people for three days, writing about everything and everything everybody says to everybody else and trying to work out whether it's honest, the reactions honest. It's tough.
"Please don't do it again."
Agreeing with Nick, Lord Sugar added: "I don't think we'll be doing it again next series. Maybe for the 20th anniversary."
'The Apprentice' series 10 kicks off with a double bill on Tuesday October 14 followed by a second episode on Wednesday October 15, after which it will air on Wednesdays at 9pm.

Mark Wright has nominated his fiancée Michelle Keegan and his "dopey" cousin Elliot Wright to lip-sync for charity.
The former 'The Only Way is Essex' star has joined a host of celebrities who are raising money for the new charity, Global's Make Some Noise - which aims to improve the lives of disadvantaged children and young people across the UK.

He told the camera: "I nominate my big cousin Elliot Wright because growing up as a kid he was my hero, but not any more because he's a big dope. My fiancée Michelle because she is my hero for coming into my life.
"Zoe Hardman for sitting in for me on a Saturday night as I do 'Strictly Come Dancing'. She's my hero too. This song is for you guys."
Other celebrities participating in the fundraiser includes: Union J, Emma Bunton, Jenni Falconer, Jamie Theakston and Jason Donovan.
The public are encouraged to get involved themselves by recording a lip-synced video and nominating their friends to get involved and start donating to the worthy cause.

'Let the Nightingale Sing' will feature a new original song titled 'Love What You Do' and is to premiere on Disney Junior in the UK this December.

Helen Flanagan dreams of Romeo and Juliet role

Helen Flanagan dreams of acting in 'Romeo and Juliet'.
The ex-'Coronation Street' star has named the Shakespeare play's female protagonist the character she would most like to play.
She told The Sun newspaper: "I am such a romantic. I would really, really love to play Juliet - it's my total dream role."
However, the 24-year-old actress - who has been dating Manchester City footballer Scott Sinclair since she was 19 - admitted she would find performing in the tale of star-crossed lovers a challenge.
She explained: "I know people will probably think it's a really weird ambition but I was actually good at Shakespeare when I was at school.
"My ultimate goal in acting is to appear in Romeo and Juliet, I love everything about it, especially the balcony scene."
She added: "Oh, I so, so want to do that. I want the challenge of it, to really push myself.
"I've never done theatre. It'll be terrifying but I know I can do it."
Despite her ambition to take to the stage in the tragic love story, the actress-turned-model - who appeared as Rosie Webster in 'Coronation Street' for 12 years - is considering continuing her studies rather than return to acting, following her departure from the ITV soap in 2012.
She stated: "I loved the show, I still do. But there's lots more I want to do. I might even go to university.
"I'd like to study something like psychology."

Kaya Scodelario misses Skins character

Kaya Scodelario misses her 'Skins' character.
The 22-year-old actress - who played troubled teenager Effy in the E4 drama - has fond memories of her time on the show and admitted she worried about landing other roles when she exited the series.
She told Time Out magazine: "Effy had been my only acting experience. I didn't know if I could do anything else. It's funny, I miss her a lot now."
The dark-haired beauty appeared in four series' and a one-off special of the teen drama, but despite playing the well-known character for several years, still felt blessed when she was offered the part of Catherine Earnshaw in the 2011 adaptation of the 1847 classic, 'Wuthering Heights'.
When asked if she felt her career was over when the hit TV show ended, she admitted: "A bit. I was so lucky to get 'Wuthering Heights'. It was such a different role. I was proving to myself that I could do it"
Since appearing in the period drama, Kaya has also been cast in science fiction thriller 'The Maze Runner' which the star confessed was difficult to film because she yearned for female company in the predominantly male cast.
She admitted: "Near the end, I flew my best friend out to Louisiana. It was actually fine. I've grown up around a lot of boys and lots of my friends are guys.
"But there were so many boys and I just needed some female company. I called her and I was like: "Bring me tampons and hairspray. I need you now."
'The Maze Runner' opens in cinemas on Friday October 10 2014.

Steve Jones secretly weds model

Steve Jones has secretly wed his model fiancée.
The Welsh-born TV presenter tied the knot with Phylicia Jackson in a private ceremony held in a Mayfair library, in London yesterday (07.10.14), followed by a reception close to the city's iconic Tower Bridge.
A source told The Daily Mirror newspaper: "They are absolutely over the moon. All their friends and family are delighted for them.
"Phylicia looked really pretty in a strapless cream satin dress with a net veil fascinator. Steve looked dapper in a perfectly fitted grey suit offset with a burgundy tie."
Steve, 37 - who has previously dated Pamela Anderson, Fearne Cotton and Hayden Panettiere - is said to have popped the question to the brunette beauty with a vintage diamond ring while they holidayed with friends and family in Italy last month.
The source added: "It might seem to have happened incredibly quickly to outsiders, given that they only had a few weeks to plan the entire day, but they couldn't be happier.
"They spent two months on a road trip around Europe over the summer, which is when Steve decided she really was The One."
Phylicia met Steve while he presented the US version of 'The X Factor' in 2011 and moved back to the UK with him following his exit from the show just a year later.
Steve previously said: "I met my girlfriend in the States so it was definitely a worthwhile trip."

Aliona Vilani sick of Strictly partners with ‘two left feet’

'Strictly Come Dancing' star Aliona Vilani is sick of having partners with "two left feet."
The 30-year-old professional dancer - who was voted off the show on Sunday (05.09.14) with her partner, 49-year-old 'Masterchef' host Gregg Wallace - is said to be tired of being paired with celebrities who lack ballroom ability.
A source told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "She feels she is due a good partner next year and is sick of being voted off early on because her partners have two left feet."
The blonde beauty won the primetime BBC competition in 2011 with McBusted star Harry Judd, but has mourned her victory after being paired with older men who are untalented in the dancing department including 70-year-old ex-golfer Tony Jacklin and 76-year-old TV personality Johnny Ball.
The source added: "Aliona is struggling to hide her disappointment. She really wants someone young and keen and with respect to Gregg, Tony and Johnny, not old and lacking dance skills."
After being voted off the show, the star appeared annoyed as she retweeted various comments in which fans said she deserved to be paired with a more talented celebrity.
However, she appeared to have no hard feelings towards her most recent dancing dud, tweeting: "Want to thank Gregg Wallace for trying his best, working really hard and giving it his best shot!"
