Laurence Llewelyn Bowen is looking forward to a break this Christmas.
The former 'Changing Rooms' star - who has two daughters, Cecile and Hermione, with his wife Jackie - insists it's as important to rest during the upcoming holiday as it is to enjoy the festivities.
He told BANG Showbiz: "It's very important that grown-ups have time off at Christmas. We work very hard these days. It is very important that grown-ups properly have time off at Christmas. Don't overdo it and don't take on too much. This holiday should be a time to sit back and recharge."
Interior designer Laurence has always been enchanted by Christmas and he has fond memories of his own house and the homes of his friends being transformed by Yuletide decorations.
He said: "All the coloured lights were exotic. I remember being really struck by how transformed ordinary familiar spaces were, like my own home or friend's family homes. They were transformed with fairy lights which seemed so unusual back then.
He jokingly added: "I guess that's one of the pitfalls of growing up in the Victorian era ... Well It was the 60s for goodness sake!"
Laurence was speaking ahead of his appearance at the Ideal Home Show at Christmas (Idealhomeshowchristmas.co.uk) which takes place at Earls Court in London from November 19 to 23 and at Event City in Manchester between November 14 to 16.
Laurence insists visitors to the show will be able to learn ways to improve their house that will last beyond Christmastime.
He said: "The main aim, of course, is getting the visitors to get inspired and excited by Christmas but of one of the great things about the Ideal Home Show is it is not just about Christmas at all. It is about giving people the ideas and inspiration and actually shopping opportunities to be to make sure their homes are Christmas ready on every level. It's about the interior decoration as well."
Other stars appearing at the event include TV chef Gino D'Acampo, Peter Andre, Amy Childs and Millie Mackintosh.

Blue are to run a bar in Ibiza for a new TV show.
The boy band - Lee Ryan, Antony Costa, Duncan James and Simon Webbe - will appear in ITV2 programme 'Blue Go Mad in Ibiza' for which they were set the challenge to turn a relaxed San Antonio bar into one of the Spanish island's top holiday hot spots in just 14 days.
Among the challenges the Blue boys will have to deal with are awkward customers intent on making trouble, difficult staff members, including a chauvinistic head barman, and an overly flamboyant PR intent on causing havoc.
Unbeknown to the foursome while they were shooting all the problematic people were actors who had been specifically asked to make mischief.
In a joint statement, the guys said: "We thoroughly enjoyed running the bar and definitely see a potential future in this for Blue, but we still can't believe we were fooled into believing our closest confidantes in the bar were genuine!
"We've got into some unusual predicaments during our time in the band, but what the team tricked us into on the show was unbelievable. We're still shocked we didn't guess!"
The four-part series is yet to get a start date.

Jackiey Budden is planning to auction off her late daughter Jade Goody's possessions because she is struggling for money.
The one-time 'Celebrity Big Brother' contestant has had her benefit payments cut by the government after a new test concluded she is well enough to work, even though she lost the use of her left arm in a motorcycle accident in 1986.
Jackiey has been told she must find a job but at present she is desperate for cash and has made the decision to sell-off various items that belonged to Jade - who died from cervical cancer in 2009 at the age of just 27.
Speaking about her decision in an interview on 'This Morning' today (06.11.14), she said: "At the moment I'm struggling, I'm living off my disability to pay my rent. So I called Christie's and explained everything I had [to sell] and was advised to take to auction because there are some really serious collectors out there for what my dolly's are. I will sell them and my fox furs ... and the books."
When asked by hosts Philip Schofield and Amanda Holden what she has done with the £20,000 she was left in Jade's will, Jackiey replied: "Yes, she signed the will and I get pocket money. It's with the tax man at the moment, but that's still coming."
The 57-year-old grandmother - who regularly sees Bobby and Freddy, Jade's children with TV presenter Jeff Brazier - was stunned when she got a letter in the post telling her she was well enough to work and would no longer be eligible for income support.
Although she can use her right arm, she claims she's in constant pain with it because the limb is overworked because she can't use her other arm which would make her a risk if she were to get a job she has previously held - that of an au pair, nanny or housekeeper.
Jackiey believes Jade - who shot to fame when she appeared in the 2002 series of 'Bog Brother' - would approve of her plan to sell her things if she was still alive.
She said: "I think if Jade was alive she would still prefer me to do that than to be in the situation that I'm in. I've got so much of Jade's old possessions, some really old books and dollies."

The X Factor's Jake Quickenden has reportedly signed up for 'I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here!'
The 26-year-old singer - who was voted off the ITV talent show last month - is said to have been signed up to provide "male eye candy" for the thousands of female viewers set to tune in when the reality series kicks off later this month.
A source revealed: "Jake was a big hit on 'The X Factor' and not just because of his voice. He's going to be the male eye candy in the jungle and a potential love interest for some of the female stars.
"ITV usually refrains from signing up reality stars unless they're household names. But they've made a special exception for Jake."
Jake, who was taken through to the live shows in Mel B's boys category after failing to get past the judge's houses with Nicole Scherzinger in 2012, has enjoyed work as a presenter on Chart Show TV but is said to be keen to promote himself in the jungle.
The source told The Sun newspaper: "Jake is hoping to get at least a modelling deal out of it."
Meanwhile, TV presenter Melanie Sykes, 'The Only Way Is Essex' star Gemma Collins and 'Hollyoaks' actress Gemma Merna are also reported to have agreed to try their luck in the Australian jungle, where they'll be tasked with completing Bushtucker trials that involve eating creepy crawlies and animal parts as well as performing terrifying stunts in return for food.

Simon Cowell is setting up dates for Stevi Ritchie.
The 'X Factor' hopeful was ditched by fellow contestant Chloe-Jasmine Whichello after a fling, and now his mentor, Simon Cowell, is helping him to find love.
The 34-year-old crooner explained: "Simon is going to set me up with five ladies apparently. He's trying to set me up with his PA. He's pimping me out but I don't mind.
"I don't know who the rest are but I doubt they would be below his standards."
The singer - who performed a rendition of Andrew Lloyd Webber's 'Music of the Night' from 'Phantom of the Opera' on last week's Fright Night show - also revealed he is hoping having Simon play cupid for him will mean he gets more action in the bedroom.
He continued: "I have slept with more than ten women but less than 20. I have a high sex drive for a 34-year-old. I think it's because I missed out when I was younger. I didn't lose my virginity until I was 21."
The ITV contestant hasn't only been focusing on his naughty antics, however, and reflected on his position in the competition, acknowledging that his voice isn't as impressive as some of his co-stars.
He said: "I would say my voice is six or seven out of ten. I am the weakest singer in the competition but I do think I'm up there as the best performer with Fleur East."
Despite surviving on the singing contest for several weeks, the wannabe confessed that he sees no future in music after the programme, and instead wants to become a television host, like former 'X Factor' contestant Rylan Clark.
He added: "I would love to become a presenter. I know I'm not going to get a record contract but if I could have a TV career like Rylan Clark I'd be happy."

Luisa Zissman has asked a former porn star to be her bridesmaid.
The 'Celebrity Big Brother' star has asked her best friend and retired X-rated actress Rachael Lalji - who once worked as a Britney Spears "bum double" to be her bridesmaid in preparation for her wedding to business tycoon Andrew Collins.
A source told The Sun newspaper: "Rachael is a dear friend of Luisa's so was always likely to be given the nod for the day. She met up with a couple of the bridesmaids this week to go dress shopping."
After announcing her proposal on Twitter in October, the 27-year-old beauty also revealed that her friend Doctor Leah Totton would be her bridesmaid, after they starred together on the ninth series of 'The Apprentice'.
Tweeting her congratulations to her friend, Dr Leah wrote: "YAY! Huge congrats & much luv to u both (sic)"
To which Luisa replied: "thanks bridesmaid (sic)"
Rounding out her wedding entourage, Luisa has reportedly asked her close friends Laura Mcleod and Georgia Clarke.
Her impending nuptials mark the second time that Luisa will be walking down the aisle, following her marriage to the entrepreneur Oliver Zissman in 2009.
The former couple - who have four-year-old daughter Dixie together - were divorced earlier this year.

Coronation Street's Michelle Connor is to be left heartbroken when her relationship with Steve McDonald collapses.
Michelle - who is played by Kym Marsh - will be left stunned when her partner Steve (Simon Gregson) walks away from their relationship after refusing to open up to her about his depression.
Steve has been suffering with the condition since the murder of Tina McIntyre (Michelle Keegan) but has chosen to keep his feelings to himself, driving a wedge between him and Michelle, resulting in their split.
Later this month Michelle will be seen crying on the shoulder of Steve's mum Liz McDonald (Beverley Callard) before moving into best pal Carla Connor's (Alison King) house.
Speaking to Liz, Michelle says: "He's said nothing. No, 'Get out I hate you', or, 'It's not you, it's me'. This makes no sense. He just sat in the car staring at the window.
"The only time he showed any emotion was when I threatened to smash it up. It's over, he doesn't love me, he doesn't want me."
Liz then replies, saying: "I'm lost for words. This isn't about you, it's him, he's all over the place at the moment."
Michelle then leaves the Rovers Return pub - which Steve had bought as a gift to her earlier this year - with her bags and heads to Carla's, admitting she'd rather there was "another woman involved" than not know what's wrong.
Steve and Michelle were previously married on the soap before he had an affair with Becky Granger (Katherine Kelly).
Meanwhile, it's been revealed Simon - who plays Steve - has had to pull out of filming after being hit with a mystery illness, meaning Corrie bosses are having to rethink his current storylines.

'Coronation Street' star Simon Gregson has pulled out of filming.
The 40-year-old actor - who stars as Rovers Return landlord Steve McDonald in the ITV soap - has reportedly been hit by a mystery illness and will have to be temporarily written out of storylines while he waits for hospital test results.
Explaining that Corrie bosses aren't expecting him back on set "any time soon", a source said: "It's a frightening time for him. He's felt under the weather for a while, but it's recently got worse."
Simon - who has sons Alfie, seven, and five-year-old Harry with wife Emma Gleave - is said to have felt unwell while travelling home from a family day out last month and while he later went to the studios to film, he reportedly became too ill and had to go home.
Simon's character Steve has been seen sinking into depression following the murder of Tina McIntyre (Michelle Keegan) and while bosses were planning to develop the story into the New Year in order to raise awareness about mental health, it now seems they will have to have a rethink.
The source told The Sun newspaper: "The most important thing is Steve's health. He's a great guy and gives everyone a lift on set.
"It's a shock that he has had to pull out, especially when his character is so heavily involved in the storyline."
Meanwhile, Anne Kirkbride - who plays Deirdre Barlow - is currently taking an eight week break from the drama in order to "rest her bones", according to co-star Marc Baylis (Rob Donovan).

Jemma Bird thinks James Hill or Sanjay Sood-Smith should've been fired on 'The Apprentice' instead of her.
The 26-year-old star was booted off the BBC show last night (04.11.14) but she insists the pair were much more to blame for the failure of Team Summit's coach trip task - which Karren Brady described as the "trip from hell" - and thinks project manager Sanjay chose the easy way out by not selecting James to go into the boardroom.
She exclusively told BANG Showbiz: "I think James should have got fired. That was the kind of general standpoint, really. It seemed like that at the time but Sanjay made his decision and it ended up being me.
"James was psyching himself up to go in that boardroom as if he was about to go into a boxing match so I think Sanjay looked at the two of us and thought he'd rather take me on.
"I thought I'd be against Sanjay and James. They are very strong candidates and my card was marked to be honest.
"But Sanjay was owning up to a lot of things so I thought maybe I still had a chance because he made quite a few mistakes.
"I do think Sanjay made a lot of mistakes on that task, he did admit loads. You have to give him credit for holding his hands up and saying that he'd made mistakes."
While Jemma has admitted she doesn't have any regrets about her time on the show, she thinks she ultimately got fired by Lord Alan Sugar because she was "too well behaved" during the task.
She added: "My main downfall was probably not being much of an entertainer and being a bit too well behaved.
"I did things in the background which people obviously don't think are entertaining. So I got marked with the non-contribution card which was very frustrating."
