Jessica Raine needed a massage every day after wearing a corset for 'Wolf Hall'.
The 32-year-old actress found filming the period drama "claustrophobic" because of the tight-fitting outfits but says her physical discomfort made playing Jane Rochford much easier.
She said: "Filming was claustrophobic. Not just with the lighting but you're also completely bound with corsets.
"Your bust is flattened and pushed up so you do have a bit of cleavage. But mine wasn't very good. The costume designers didn't cut corners, I had to go for a massage at the end of every day. These women were so trussed up and restricted and they had absolutely no power.
"It made it easy to play Jane as a pinched, bitter woman. Being a bitch for a change was liberating."
Jessica also admitted it was "difficult" to make herself more unattractive than her co-stars.
She told Stylist magazine: "I had to wear this beast of a wig with a severe centre parting.
"Jane was famously unattractive, she was ridiculed for it. But it was difficult - every actress in 'Wolf Hall'; is wearing barely any make-up, so to set myself apart I had to rely on my actual face being unattractive."

Perez Hilton's sister is "surprised" by his behaviour on 'Celebrity Big Brother'.
The American gossip blogger has infuriated his housemates with his antagonistic and attention-seeking antics, but Barbara Lavandeira insists her brother is very different in the outside world.
Speaking to Closer magazine, she said: "I'm surprised by the amount of arguments Perez has got into in the house. He's very opinionated but not typically argumentative. He's not this mean and vile individual a few housemates keep saying he is.
"Yes he can talk loudly and passionately at times, but Perez loves having fun and making people laugh - this is why he makes up songs and dances around. I was surprised that he stripped to his undies several times."
Barbara believes one of the reasons why Perez - real name Mario Lavandeira Jr. - has been acting so out of character is because he is missing his son Mario, who turns two next week.
She said: "The biggest factor affecting Perez's behaviour is that this is the longest he's been away from his son - he'll have missed Mario so much. Perez is a very hands-on dad. From feeding him to bath time, story time and then putting him to bed - Perez is there for it all."
And Barbara also thinks her brother will be finding it hard being cut off from technology.
She said: "For the first time in over 10 years, he's disconnected from his phone, laptop and the internet - three things he's never been without for more than 24 hours."

Perez Hilton and Kavana were evicted from 'Celebrity Big Brother' tonight (04.02.15).
The controversial celebrity blogger admitted he was "so happy" after becoming the seventh housemate to be voted off the Channel 5 series shortly after the British singer left the show in a surprise double elimination.
Asked if he meant to repeatedly infuriate his housemates with his antagonistic and attention-seeking antics, the 36-year-old star told host Emma Willis in his post eviction interview: "Absolutely. A lot of the time, yes."
But he insisted he didn't mean to be as "hurtful" as his rival Katie Hopkins, as he has a "big heart."
He added: "I would have enjoyed the house a lot more if Katie Hopkins was not there.
"The Perez Show was a defence mechanism. I got a lot of negative energy, so I did it to protect myself. It was me, but it was a way of allowing myself to not be hurt, covering my heart with a seal.
"I should probably think before I speak. I don't do that all the time."
But he also claimed his own brain was his biggest rival.
He explained: "I regret going into that house. For the last week and a half I have had to take sleeping pills, prescribed by a doctor, because I couldn't turn my brain off."
While Perez failed to bond with most of his housemates, he called Nadia Sawalha a "friend for life" and said: "I would trust Nadia with my son, and I mean that."
Asked who he wants to win the show on Friday (06.02.15), he said: "I want Calum [Best] to win. I think he deserves to win for so many reasons."
Shortly before Perez was eliminated, Kavana received a mixed reaction from the live crowd.
He said: "I've never experienced anything like that in my entire life. I couldn't have imagined anything so twisted, weird, dark freak show."

'Doctor Who' fans will soon be able to make their favourite characters out of LEGO.
The LEGO Group has announced that they will be producing a set based on the popular BBC One show, after the concept was suggested by a fan, Andrew Clark, on the LEGO Ideas website.

Emma Owen, the UK spokesperson for LEGO Ideas commented: "We're extremely excited to announce that a Doctor Who and a WALL-E set will be released as our next LEGO Ideas fan based sets, congratulations to the designers Andrew Clark and Angus MacLane!

The final set designs, pricing and availability are being worked out as we speak, so watch this space for the final details!"
Marcus Arthur, managing director of BBC Worldwide UK added: "Both Doctor Who and LEGO enjoy a particularly close relationship with their fans and I can't wait to see what LEGO produce."

Nadia Sawalha regrets going one 'Celebrity Big Brother' "1000 million per cent".
The 'Loose Women' star has been subjected to a backlash since she left the house last week because of her behaviour on the reality show and her friendship with fellow housemate Perez Hilton.
Nadia has always been an avid watcher of 'CBB' but she wishes she hadn't crossed the line from viewer to contestant.
When asked on 'Lorraine' whether she had any regrets about going into the house, she said: "Yeah, 1000 million per cent. I have always been a huge fan of the show and always will be and have always watched it and been judgemental of people and I've taken the cheque so now it's my turn to be very harshly judged and I accept that."
The 50-year-old presenter-and-actress admits it's been tough coping with the criticism that has come her way and she has been relying on the support of her husband, TV producer Mark Adderley, and her daughters to get back to normality.
She explained: "I am decompressing. Mark, has been amazing, my husband, I've literally laid in bed for the whole weekend while my family and lovely friends have just brought me back to reality."
Nadia - who appears in sitcom 'Benidorm' this week - frequently clashed with Katie Hopkins in the 'CBB' house but she is adamant it won't upset her if the outspoken newspaper columnist wins.
She said: "If she wins I wish her well, I wish her well. I think she will have worked very hard to win so you know I hope for her sake she does."

Susanna Reid is living with tinnitus.
The 'Good Morning Britain' host has had the hearing condition - a painful ringing in the ears, which is a symptom of noise-induced hearing loss - for 10 years since she gave birth to her son Finn.
Discussing the condition on her breakfast TV show, she revealed: "When I first started hearing it, which is probably about 10 years ago, I became quite distressed that I'd never hear silence again."
Susanna has learnt to manage the condition but decided to share her story with viewers to highlight Tinnitus Awareness Week.
The 44-year-old presenter - who has three sons, Sam, 12, Finn, 10, and Jack, nine, with her ex-husband Dominic Cotton - previously claimed the tinnitus could have been cause by a difficult labour.
In a past interview, she said: "I miss silence. I've had tinnitus since Finn's birth, which probably resulted from a difficult labour."
Approximately one in 10 people in Britain suffer from some form of tinnitus, and the condition is synonymous with rock stars who have spent their lives on stage playing loud music.
Famous tinnitus sufferers include The Who guitarist Pete Townshend, former Oasis singer Liam Gallagher and Queen drummer Roger Taylor.

Michelle Keegan and Mark Wright have been "tasting" food for their wedding.
The couple are tying the knot later this year and used a break in their busy schedules this week to meet up with their wedding planner to finalise some details of their big day.
Michelle admits the best part of the meeting was when she and Mark got to taste and pick the menu for their nuptials.
Writing her weekly blog for Hellomagazine.com, she revealed: "Mark has been on the 'Strictly Come Dancing' tour again this week, so I have been in and around London mostly. We had a meeting with our wedding planner on Monday (02.02.15) and signed off on some of the finer points of the day. We also did some food tasting which was the BEST part of the day. By farrrrrr! (sic)"
Michelle, 27, is making sure she stays in great shape ahead of her wedding and has been snacking on healthy popcorn to satisfy any cravings she has.
In the post, she explained: "Decided to tweak my Soulmate food order - to the healthy eating / fitness training food plan, instead of the Paleo as I have been on it a while now. I enjoyed this sweet spiced popcorn on a shoot the other day. Delicious! The healthy eating plan isn't about weight loss, it's about eating clean and nutritious food. Www.soulmatefood.com (sic)"
The former 'Coronation Street' actress has insisted she has not yet turned into a "bridezilla yet" as the organisation of her wedding gets serious.
She previously said: "It's all going smoothly and no bridezilla moments yet. Although, ask me a month before and I might not be so chilled. I'm going to have a big hen do with my friends and family but we're still having meetings to decide what to do. The boys have booked their stag already."

Katy Cavanagh has announced she is leaving 'Coronation Street'.
The actress is quitting her role as unlucky-in-love factory worker Julie Carp after seven years on the cobbles to "pursue other projects and opportunities".
In a statement, she said: "I have decided it's time to take a break from the cobbles and pursue other projects and opportunities. I have loved every minute in the world of Julie Carp and I'm not ruling out a return to the Street in the future. However I am looking forward to a new challenge and a pair of flat shoes."
Producer Stuart Blackburn is sad to see Katy leave the show but is hopeful she will come back to Weatherfield in the future.
He said: "Julie Carp has become a warm, wonderful and eccentric character able to raise a laugh and a tear in the same scene. Everyone at 'Corrie' wishes Katy all the very best and hopefully as far as Julie is concerned, the cobbles haven't seen the last of her."
Katy will leave in late spring in a storyline that will see Julie's relationship with businessman Dev Alahan implode following a trip he takes to India.
After being forced to re-evaluate her life Julie - who is the half-sister of Eileen Grimshaw - decides she needs to leave Weatherfield and start afresh.

Heather Mills was saved by Jodie Kidd when her false leg collapsed at the top of 'The Jump' runway,
The former model - who lost part of her left leg in an accident in 1993 - almost tumbled down the terrifying course on her face when her prosthetic gave out but avoided disaster after her fellow contestant pulled her back.
She said: "My leg broke completely at the top of the run. If Jodie hadn't had a hold of me, I'd have face-planted all the way down. The leg just collapsed."
Heather was able to borrow another prosthetic to do her jump but thinks the heavy limb ruined her chances in the competition after she recorded a distance of just 12 metres on Monday (02.02.15), meaning she was beaten by Lady Victoria Hervey, who leapt 12.5 metres.
She added: "I was jumping 14 to 15m consistently on the other leg. [The replacement] felt very heavy. I would have definitely been in if I had the other leg, but that's life."
Now she is out of the competition, Heather wants to help former JLS star J.B. Gill to victory.
She said: "I'd like Mike Tindall to have someone to compete against among the men. There's a big gap between the good skiers and the very average skiers.
"J.B.'s now doing very well, so I'll spend my time working on his technique to get him up there so that he's at the top level."
