Mel B has turned to her ex-boyfriend Eddie Murphy for advice following her split from Stephen Belafonte.
The former Spice Girl - who recently called time on her relationship with Stephen, 39 - is said to have reached out to the US born star in a series of transatlantic phone calls, in which he has advised her to "keep quiet" and "stay classy".
A source told the Daily Star newspaper: "Eddie has told her to keep a lid on her feelings publicly. Stephen is the one doing all the talking and all the begging for her to go back to him.
"But Eddie has told her to keep quiet, stay classy and only talk when she has something to say."
Eddie, 53, split from Mel in 2006 and ordered she take a paternity test to prove he was the father of her daughter Angel, seven, however, following the test's positive match, the pair have since become friends.
Also quick to show his support to Mel in the wake of her split from Stephen is her fellow 'X Factor' judge Simon Cowell.
The 55-year-old music mogul has vowed to be there for the 39-year-old singer in whatever way he can.
An insider said: "He called as soon as he realised she was in trouble. Simon has grown close to Mel and wants to do everything he can to help her get through this.
"He doesn't just see himself as a boss - he likes to think his TV judges consider him a friend."
Although Simon has been spending some downtime with girlfriend Lauren Silverman, 37, and their ten-month-old son Eric in Barbados, the source says Simon is just a phone call away if Mel needs his help and support.
A source explained: "He is enjoying the break after a hectic series of X Factor. Being with his family at Christmas and relaxing in the sun is the perfect downtime for Simon.
"But he's made it clear to Mel she is more than welcome to get in touch if she needs his help. He meant it when he said he'd be there for her - whenever she needed it."

Tim McGraw and Faith Hill are selling their Tennessee property for $18.5 million.
According to Zillow, the 47-year-old country singer and his wife - who sold a small portion of their 753-acre estate just outside of Nashville for $20 million last year - are selling off the remaining land as two properties worth the combined sum.
The first - valued at $10million - is a 353-acre property called 'Samuel Morton House', a log home with 3 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms, built around 1800.
The house also comes with a 12-stall barn and guest house.
The second 270-acre property 'Beechwood Hall', which has been priced at $8.5million, was built in 1856 and comes with 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms, although the house is said to be in need of renovation. It also includes two caretaker homes and a guest cabin.
Tim and Faith, 47, have been married since 1996 and have daughters Gracie, 17, Maggie, 15, and Audrey, 12, together.
The 'Shotgun Rider' hitmaker - who has struggled with drink and drug abuse in the past - opened up earlier this year about his decision to curb his wild ways in 2008 after admitting he feared he would "lose everything".
Tim said: "When your wife tells you it's gone too far, that's a big wake-up call. That, and realizing you're gonna lose everything you have. Not monetarily, not career-wise, but family-wise.
"It got to the point where my kids were getting older, and it was way past the point that they noticed it. And I noticed that they noticed. That's enough to straighten you out... I drank too much. I partied too much. And did other things too much. Chemically. No needles or that kind of stuff, but... use your imagination."

Nicole Scherzinger is "always late".
The 'Don't Hold Your Breath' hitmaker has revealed poor timekeeping is her worst character trait, and frequently causes her to miss special events and meetings.
She confessed: "I'm always late. I miss the most important things."
The 36-year-old star revealed one recent potential encounter with the Dalai Lama, which was scuppered by her inability to stick to schedule.
She explained: "Just recently in LA I was due to meet with the Dalai Lama - we were going to sit down and have a one-to-one - I'd even found out that he gives you a special scarf when you meet. But I missed him."
Thankfully, the former Pussycat Dolls member - who is currently appearing as Grizabella in the West End musical 'Cats' at London's Palladium Theatre - was not too untimely to miss the whole of the renowned monk's speech, but admitted she was frustrated with herself for being unnecessarily delayed and missing their slot to have a conversation.
She told The Mail on Sunday's Event magazine: "I got there to hear him speak and I saw him briefly afterwards in the hall but I didn't make my audience with him. I was so mad at myself - but I will always be late."

John Cleese "didn't really want to" marry his third wife Alyce Eichelberger.
The 75-year-old actor wed the American psychotherapist in 1992 but following a turbulent separation and £12 million divorce settlement, the star has admitted the relationship was a mistake which he was pressured into.
He admitted: "It's finally finished. Now I can start my life again. I can go off on holiday for the new year and draw a line under it.
"Life is full of ups and downs, of course, but there are only a couple of things I regret. I did rather cave in and agree to marry Alyce when I didn't really want to. And that cost me a fortune. It cost me the best part of 10 years of my life too. I do regret the time spent over the last 10 years just earning money to hand over to someone else. Now it has come to an end."
The 'Monty Python's Flying Circus' star has since married his fourth wife, jewellery designer and former model, Jennifer Wade - who aged 43, is 32 years his junior - who he says is definitely the right person for him.
He gushed: "I've finally got it right.
"I'm so lucky to have found love at this stage in my life. It's infinitely better than winning an Oscar or anything like that, or making £10 million, because that's where happiness really lies."
Despite having three failed marriages, John still believes tying the knot is an important move, which he is glad to have taken with his new lover.
Speaking to the Sunday Mirror newspaper, he added: "Marriage is absolutely something I would recommend. I think to get a proper, loving relationship at this stage in my life is the biggest bonus I could have got.
"Now I can earn a bit of money for this wife. And maybe at some point for myself too!"

Olly Murs worries that his fame will soon evaporate.
The 30-year-old star has enjoyed considerable success since appearing on the sixth series of 'The X Factor' in the UK in 2009, but he fears losing fans if he's not constantly releasing music.
The 'Heart Skips a Beat' hitmaker reflected: "My fans are so loyal but I always worry they will jump ship. Loads of great artists have come back and are not selling records anymore. I know if I'm not at the top of my game there will be a new whippersnapper from X Factor to take my place.
"You have to be worried because it keeps you on top of your game.
"I couldn't take three years out and come back with an album. A few artists can do that now, Adele or Ed Sheeran, but I'm a different artist.
"I have to keep going and working hard for success. I understand how fickle the industry is."
Much of Olly's success has been attributed to his likeable personality, and despite amassing a considerable fortune, he admits he still loves a bargain.
He told the Daily Star Sunday newspaper: "I love a bargain, who doesn't? If I can get a 'buy one get one free', then of course I'm going to buy it."

Jamie Oliver once averaged three-and-a-half hours of sleep a night.
The celebrity chef admits that he lived an unhealthy lifestyle for a decade, causing him to put on weight and stopping him from functioning like a regular person.
Jamie, 39, shared: "'For the past decade I've been averaging about three-and-a-half hours a night.
"It got to a point this summer where I had to do something. I knew there was something wrong with me.
"On a fundamental level I wasn't functioning like a normal person.
"I'd sit down in the office, fall asleep and start dribbling. Not pretty. Not good."
Jamie, whose personal fortune is worth around £150 million, says people would take his issue more seriously if he had another type of addiction.
He told the Mail on Sunday newspaper: "I feel like I should be admitting to being an alcoholic - people get that. But my thing is not sleeping."
Jamie explained that he's now sleeping more hours per night and has lost weight.
The popular TV chef said: "I've got healthier and I've got more energy. I'm sharper in my head and more sober in the way I think."
