Amanda Bynes is living off gift cards.
The 28-year-old actress - who was released from a psychiatric treatment facility in Pasadena, California last week after being involuntarily committed on October 10 - has been refused cash by her parents who instead grant her an American Express gift card of around $50 for her living expenses.
According to gossip website TMZ, Amanda's parents - who claim they are too "burnt out" to let her continue living with them - give the cards to her court-appointed lawyer who then passes on the funds to the troubled star.
The news follows on from reports that the 'Easy A' actress had been ordered to remain under a conservatorship.
A lawyer claiming to represent Amanda recently asked a judge to remove her mother Lynn Bynes' ability to make decisions on the troubled star's behalf but the judge ruled the actress lacked the capacity to enter into a binding contract or hire a lawyer, so he refused to allow the hearing to go ahead.
Despite claiming on Twitter on Friday morning that she planned to fight to regain control of her life, Amanda did not show up to court, but was spotted having lunch in Mel's Drive-In in Hollywood shortly beforehand.
A waitress at the eatery claimed she arrived with a mystery man, talked about plastic surgery and stepped out of the way several times for an imaginary person.

Sharon Osbourne has been battling depression for 16 years.
'The Talk' host made the confession to her shocked co-stars on the CBS panel show while the group discussed comedian Wayne Brady's admission that he has struggled with the disorder.
The 62-year-old star revealed she too was battling depression and had been taking medication for 16 years to help her cope.
Her co-host Aisha Tyler, responded: "You never talked about that!"
Sharon replied: "Nobody ever asked!"
She added of her struggle: "Some days are better than others, and some days you feel like you just want to pull the sheets over your head and just stay in that bed and not do a damn thing - except rot."
Sharon - who is married to Black Sabbath rocker Ozzy Osbourne - was also diagnosed with colon cancer in 2002 and, after being given the all clear, underwent a double mastectomy in 2012 amid fears she could develop breast cancer.
Her husband, 65, recently spoke of his fear of losing his wife and shared his horror at watching her suffer violent seizures.
He said: "Sharon is the strongest woman I know. When I saw the scans of the colon, I thought, 'No way'. The cancer was so aggressive.
"She had three chemotherapies a month and after nine months the side-effects got worse and worse.
"She was having seizures - she was like The Exorcist, bouncing around the bed. I thought I was going to lose her.
"I thought it was all going to be too much for her. Then at the end of the nine months the doctor said, 'She's going to need nine months to get over the chemotherapy'. Her response was, I'm cancer free, great. I'm going shopping'."

Khloe Kardashian thinks Kourtney Kardashian was a "b***h" during her relationship with French Montana.
The 'Keeping Up With The Kardashians' stars - who were recently featured feuding over Khloe's decision to travel to South Africa with her now ex-boyfriend on an episode of their spin-off show 'Kourtney & Khloe Take The Hamptons' - confessed the relationship caused a lot of tension between them.
The siblings even stopped speaking after Khloe decided to leave their summer home in the Hamptons just one day after arriving in order to go on the romantic vacation with the 'Don't Panic' hitmaker.
Khloe told HollywoodLife.com: "She was so mad at me. She was such a b*tch about the situation.
"She wouldn't talk to me."
Kourtney confessed that although the pair have now split up, she regretted her decision to fall out with Khloe, 30, after the show aired as she could see how much her younger sister enjoyed the trip.
She explained: "It makes you want to be there because it looks like they're having so much fun so I'm not as mad."
The 35-year-old brunette beauty also admitted that the latest series of their show - which premiered earlier this week - features even more fights between the pair, who found themselves "clashing" a lot during filming.
She said: "There's definitely some fights. I feel like out of all the seasons that Khloe and I have filmed together, we definitely were clashing the most on this season. Khloe just wasn't in a great mood. There was a lot emotionally going on."
Khloe added: "I felt like everything was what Kourtney wanted to do. I didn't get a lot of me time. I just didn't get those opportunities. Nothing is going in my favour here."

Tom Hanks is releasing a book of short stories.
The 'Forrest Gump' star has signed a deal with publishing house Alfred A. Knopf to produce the collection just weeks after The New Yorker featured his first short story, reports the Huffington Post.
The currently unnamed collection will be released in the near future and has been inspired by the 58-year-old actor's love of typewriters with the set of short stories set to focus on and feature photographs from his own personal typewriter collection.
The news of the release follows some negative reviews of his first published work which was described by one critic as "shopworn ideas about technology... wrapped in too-clever lit mag-ese".
The Oscar-winner has also created an app that gives the user the experience of writing on a typewriter and written an essay focussing on the differences between typewriter models.
Meanwhile, Tom isn't the only star to have become a published author.
'Spring Breakers' star James Franco wrote a fiction work entitled 'Palo Alto', while Tom's 'Saving Mr. Banks' co-star, B. J. Novak, penned 'One More Thing'.

Kris Jenner is "loved-up" with Corey Gamble.
The 'Keeping Up With The Kardashians' star - who previously denied she had "gotten physical" with Corey - is now said to have become romantically involved with him following a Mexican getaway.
A source told E! News: "What started off as a friendship has turned romantic, but it's all very new."
The couple didn't seem worried about hiding their blossoming romance as they arrived back in California following their trip and were spotted looking "loved-up" at the airport in Van Nuys.
A source said: "They looked like a loved-up couple. In the brief time they were loading up luggage, Corey put his arm around Kris and she reached out to hold his hand."
The pair are thought to have met through mutual friends at fashion designer Riccardo Tisci's 40th birthday in Ibiza in August.
A source close to Kris - who split from her husband Bruce in October last year after 23 years of marriage - described her new man as an "all round good guy".
They said: "He's a really great guy...He's so nice and a very responsible man. He doesn't drink or party. He is very caring about other people and generally just an all round good guy."
The 58-year-old realty TV star was also recently spotted with Corey - who is Justin Bieber's road manager - leaving a sushi restaurant in Malibu, California, after which insiders claimed the pair were just getting to know each other.

Kim Kardashian West is reportedly planning to announce her second pregnancy on an episode of 'Keeping Up With The Kardashians'.
The 34-year-old reality TV star - who already has a 16-month-old daughter, North, with her husband, rapper Kanye West - is rumoured to be expecting baby number two and is said to have decided to share the news on an upcoming episode of the show.
According to MediaTakeOut, producers of the series have confirmed that they are scripting an episode in which Kim will announce she is pregnant to her friends and family.
However, the brunette beauty isn't showing any signs she is expecting after stepping out in a host of figure-hugging outfits and even posted a shot of herself in a stomach-squeezing, waist-training corset onto her Instagram account.
Her mother, Kris Jenner, recently spoke about being a grandmother to baby North and made it clear she wanted more grandchildren in the future, although she refused to admit whether Kim was pregnant for the second time.
She said: "I would love more grandkids. It's such a blessing.
"I let Kim speak about what she's doing herself because I never know what to expect. Until somebody's actually popping a baby bump, I don't know what's going on. She's her own girl. We hope that there'll be lots of babies, but I don't know what anyone's plan is at the moment."

Denise Welch read out a self-penned ode to Lynda Bellingham at her funeral today (03.11.14).
The 'Loose Women' star delivered the poem she had written in memory of the late actress - who passed away in October, aged 66, after losing her battle with colon cancer - during a touching service at St Bartholomew's Church in Crewkerne, Somerset, this afternoon.
Guests - who included Lynda's close friend Christopher Biggins, who wore a pink suit because he "knew it would put a smile on her face" - flooded the church to pay their last respects to the well-loved star and broke out in applause following Denise's heartfelt ode.
She said: "I'll miss you Lynda very much as will everybody here
"There is no need to say how much you are loved, as today that is abundantly clear
"If you are looking down from wherever you are I am sure you will be having a hoot at the odd bods that loved you so dearly like Biggins in that bloody pink suit
"Your humour is what I will remember and the dirtiest laugh known to man."
In addition to a touching tribute from her sister, Lynda's husband Michael Pattemore also shared details of his first encounter with his wife, which coincidentally was 10 years to the day as he spoke at the service.
He said: "This is going to be tough. While I was preparing this speech I wanted dates and times to be exact. What I discovered was devastating. It was on this very day 3 November 2004, 1.30 in the afternoon ten years ago that I first met Lynda.
"Can I go back to that day? I can remember that moment when we first met as if it was yesterday."
Her coffin - which was covered in white flowers - was carried by husband, her sons Michael and Robert and her stepson Bradley.
Among the mourners were her former 'Loose Women' co-stars Jane McDonald, Kate Thornton, Lisa Maxwell, Andrea McLean and Coleen Nolan, actress Maureen Lipman, 'Coronation Street' star Helen Worth and actor Michael Redfern - who played her on screen husband in the long-running series of Oxo adverts for which she became synonymous with.
The service was led by Lynda's friend, the former Archdeacon of London Peter Delaney MBE, and Maxwell gave a reading of The Epistle to the Romans, while 'Only Fools And Horses' star Sue Holderness read Shakespeare's Sonnet 116.
Lynda had asked her spouse Michael to organise a funeral which was full of fun and he fulfilled her wish by creating a service that mimicked The Royal Variety Performance.
The actress was buried as fireworks were let off at her graveside in keeping with her wish that her friends and family "have a party when I'm gone".

Rihanna has returned to Instagram.
The 'Rude Boy' hitmaker - who has been absent from the picture-sharing site since her account was temporarily disabled after she posted pictures of herself topless earlier this year - has reactivated her account and uploaded an upside down selfie.
According to The Sun newspaper, she posted the quirky shot along with the words: "Hellurrr #badgalback."
The 26-year-old singer also shared a cartoon illustration of herself in a bikini followed by the caption: "I'm back B****e$$$."
The Barbados-born beauty deactivated her page - which had over 12 million followers - in May this year after the site claimed topless images she had posted of herself from a shoot with French magazine Lui were in breach of their no nudity rule.
She was then forced to take to her Twitter account to confirm she had left the site and dismiss a fake account that had been set up in her name, which quickly amassed 47,000 followers.
Rihanna said at the time: "#PHAKE!!!! Let's be clear, I do NOT have an IG account (sic)."
However, the company have denied they disabled the account over the racy images and claimed shutting down her page was a "mistake".
Instagram representative Alison Schumer said: "We briefly disabled the account by mistake and restored it quickly."

The actress - who passed away in October after losing her battle with colon cancer - was laid to rest at St Bartholomew's Church in Crewkerne, Somerset, and as her coffin was committed to the earth at a nearby cemetery several fireworks exploded in the sky in keeping with her wish that her friends and family "have a party when I'm gone".
Her coffin - which was covered in white flowers - was carried by her husband Michael Pattemore, sons Michael and Robert and her stepson Bradley to and from the church which was full of her famous friends.
Among the mourners were her close pal Christopher Biggins, who wore a pink suit because he "knew it would put a smile on her face", her former 'Loose Women' co-stars Jane McDonald, Kate Thornton, Lisa Maxwell, Andrea McLean, Denise Welch and Coleen Nolan, actress Maureen Lipman, 'Coronation Street' star Helen Worth and actor Michael Redfern - who played her on screen husband in the long-running series of Oxo adverts for which she became synonymous with.
Actor-and-broadcaster Gyles Brandreth read out a hilarious tribute to his friend, during which he described her as "sexy", "funny" and a person who showed everyone "how to live".
Recalling how he met 40 years ago through Biggins, he said: "I liked her at once. I couldn't not. She was so funny and so sexy. Every guy who met her fancied her. In fact I say especially gay men fancied her. She would be the first to admit that when she came to men she didn't always get it right. Her first marriage was a blip, her second was a trauma, although it brought her her greatest gifts in life - her two sons. Then came Mike. We were suspicious at first. Some of us were jealous. But then there was that lovely happy wedding day and we met you.
"We were so happy that you made Lynda so happy, and we were so happy therefore for you both.
"I don't think I've known anyone who was more happy than Lynda. She showed us how to live, and then in her last months she showed us how to die; with grace and courage and humour and acceptance."
Other tributes came from her sister Jean Bellingham, Lipman - who admitted she would miss Lynda's honking laughter and her high campery" - and former 'Loose Women' panellist McDonald, who struggled to hold back tears as she remembered her pal.
Referring to her husband and sons, McDonald said: "She loved you so much. That's what Lynda had in abundance, she had love.
"You only had to ring Lynda and she would bring you out of it. We all know that Lynda was a great actress but she was so much more.
"I just wanted to say how much she brought to our little show. She hated it with a passion to be honest. She couldn't stand it you know, but we all loved her. She just had this passion for life and the thing about Lynda Bellingham she lived three lives more than any of us. She knew how to live. She really did."
Biggins paid a moving tribute to his pal and and ended it by reading the poem 'Codicil', written by Julia Deakin, which had been given to him by his "comedy guru" Lipman.
Among the hymns sang was 'Away In A Manger', which was poignantly chosen because of Lynda's wish to spend one last Christmas with her family, a desire which influenced her decision to stop having cancer treatment.
Outside the church hundreds of fans gathered to pay their respects to Lynda and were able to listen to the service via speakers placed outside.
