Cheryl Fernandez-Versini will choose between becoming a mother and returning as a judge on ‘The X Factor’ next year.
The ‘I Don’t Care’ hitmaker – who rejoined this year’s panel alongside Louis Walsh, Mel B and Simon Cowell three years after she was fired from ‘The X Factor USA’ – admitted she needs time to "reflect" and isn’t sure whether she will return to the competition next year or quit the series to start a family with her husband, Jean-Bernard Fernandez-Versini.
She said: "You couldn’t do them both. Next year is going to have to be the time where I reflect on what I’ve done and think about what I want to do. I’m not ruling it out.
"To think about going back next year at this point is too much. I put my heart and soul into it — I’m not a half-hearted person.
"You feel like you’re on the biggest rollercoaster. I can’t even think about it right now. I need to find my balance, sit down, have a drink and rethink things."
The 31-year-old brunette beauty also opened up about her return to the show – on which she starred from 2008 to 2010 before leaving for the US version of the show – confessing she felt there was "unfinished business" for her on the series and was keen to create more talent.
She explained: "I felt like I needed to put a lid on it – there was unfinished business. A lot of the focus goes to the judges but a lot of the time I find that ridiculous. I genuinely want to create talent."
Cheryl also insisted that the tension on the panel between her and show boss Simon Cowell isn’t put on for the cameras and claims the 55-year-old music mogul often makes "snide remarks" at her behind the scenes.
She told The Sun newspaper: "Simon is Simon. He hasn’t changed one bit. He’s giving us a hard time. What people don’t realise is what goes on backstage. There’s a lot of snide remarks and competing."
