Britain's Duke and Duchess' visit to New York triggered a surge in New York hotel searches.
The royal couple spent three days in the United States of America earlier this week, arriving in New York on Sunday, December 7 and then returning the United Kingdom early on Wednesday, December 10.
Prince William enjoyed a meeting with US President Barack Obama while his wife Catherine - previously known as Kate Middleton - visited several children's charities during their stay.
Since their tour of the east coast, Hotels.com have reported a staggering 84 per cent increase on people searching for accommodation in the state, compared to searches from the same time last year.
A spokesperson for Hotels.com told the Daily Mail newspaper: "New York is a fantastic place to visit at this time of year and it seems even our royals were able to enjoy themselves while there.
"The influence that celebrities, and in particular Kate, have on our travel decisions is fascinating - it's great to see that they are able to remind us of some of the world's best holiday spots for our future travel plans."
It's not the first time Their Royal Highnesses have been responsible for improving the tourism trade in a country.
After a royal visit to Asia in 2012, the public couldn't resist checking out hotel prices in Singapore.
Travel comparison site Skyscanner reported a 15% increase just one week after the Duke and Duchess left the country.
Labrinth loves watching 'Come Dine With Me'.
The 'Let It Be' hitmaker has declared his love for the Channel 4 reality show - which sees amateur chefs hosting dinner parties in an attempt to win a cash prize - admitting it is his "guilty pleasure".
Speaking at the BBC Music Awards in London last night (11.12.14), he said: "We drove over watching 'Come Dine With Me' because this guy had a TV in his car. That show man, I don't know why, it's a guilty pleasure. I just have to watch it."
However, the musician - who performed a duet with 'Ghost' singer Ella Henderson at the televised event - said he thinks the show is awful, but can't stop watching it because he finds the programme's narrator, Dave Lamb, hilarious.
He continued: "But it's really bad, it's trash TV but I love it. I think if they didn't have that commentator though I wouldn't watch it. He's the best."
Despite finding the cookery programme entertaining, he vowed never to appear on it himself because he is a terrible chef.
When asked if he would like to compete on the celebrity version, he joked: "Nah. With my cooking I'd probably kill everyone, just burning down the house."
Katie Price will reportedly be joined by one of her former lovers in the 'Celebrity Big Brother' house.
The 36-year-old star is rumoured to be entering the reality series house early next year and a number of her high-profile former flames are in the frame to join her, including Dwight Yorke, 43, Gareth Gates, 30, and Katie's first husband Peter Andre, 41.
Katie's ex-husband Alex Reid and her "first love" Dane Bowers have appeared on the show before but failed to ignite the drama TV bosses were craving.
An insider told the Daily Star newspaper: "There was nowhere near the fireworks they hoped for.
"So this year they want Katie in there herself to cause havoc with an ex. It could be very explosive."
Other stars tipped to appear on the Channel 5 show include Calum Best and Danniella Westbrook.
The former 'EastEnders' actress is said to be keen to appear on the 15th series after revealing she's living in sheltered accommodation and relying on food banks to feed her family.
However, she's said to be reluctant to leave her children but recognises she needs the money.
The source explained: "She hates to leave her kids, but she needs cash, and fast."
Cheryl Fernandez-Versini is backing Fleur East to win 'The X Factor'.
The 'Crazy Stupid Love' singer saw her final act sent home last week and while she insists a "case can be made" for all three finalists - Fleur, Ben Haenow and Andrea Faustini - she sees the 26-year-old wannabe as the whole package.
Speaking at a Q&A with the judges and finalists at London's Wembley Arena yesterday (11.12.14), she said: "I don't think we've ever had, at least while I've been on the show, someone who can do everything ... As in sing, dance, rap, the whole shenanigans."
The 31-year-old star was also keen to find out how Fleur and Ben's mentor, 'X Factor' boss Simon Cowell, is planning to divide his attention "fairly" between his two contestant's during this weekend's final.
After the 55-year-old music mogul insisted he was more than capable of working with more than one artist at the same time, Cheryl pushed for an answer to her question.
He responded saying: "We've done it this week. We've gone through all the songs. Last night I was still making changes to the mixes and will continue to do so today."
Simon added: "At the weekend, my job is over and hopefully I'll have done everything I can do to prepare both of you [glances at Ben and Fleur]."
Meanwhile, Andrea could be left to fend for himself this weekend as his mentor Mel B was too "unwell" to attend rehearsals yesterday and is said to have been struck down by a mystery illness.
A source told the Daily Star newspaper: "Poor Andrea is feeling abandoned ... But Mel can't help it. She is so poorly and may have to miss the final altogether."
Stephen Fry was banned from using Twitter in Mexico because of fears he'd be kidnapped.
The 57-year-old actor has revealed his insurance company advised him not to use the social networking site while visiting the region for a new TV project as they were worried criminals could use it to track him down and hold him for ransom.
He shared: "I was filming in Mexico, which is a wonderful country, but the insurance company decided I should not tweet for fear of kidnapping and things like that.
"They did not want me to reveal where I was."
The 'Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies' star confessed it was quite daunting being told what he should and shouldn't do while staying in the country, which has one of the highest kidnapping rates in the world, but admitted he didn't witness any crime during his visit.
Speaking on an episode of 'Alan Carr: Chatty Man' - which airs tonight (12.12.14) on Channel 4 - he added: "They told me not to use social media or drive at night. There has been appalling violence but I did not sense any of that."
Jessica Alba doesn't "care" about fame.
The 33-year-old actress - who also runs her own eco-friendly business The Honest Company - admits she wouldn't mind if her celebrity status was ripped away from her one day because she believes she transformed into the person she's meant to be when she became a mother six years ago.
She explained: "Living in LA, everyone likes to mould you and change you. I don't care about fame, I don't care about being a celebrity.
"I know that's part of the job but I don't feed into anyone's ideas of who I should be."
She added to Australia's OK! Magazine: "When I became a mum, I finally became the person I am, that I always should have been."
The 'Sin City: A Dame to Kill For' star is even trying to steer her daughters Honor, six, and Haven, three - with whom she has with her husband of six years, Cash Warren - away from the acting industry but is convinced they'll both go on to have wonderful careers.
She explained: "Every day [Honor and Haven are] just getting taller and sometimes more sassy. I don't think either of them are going to be actresses, if I can help it.
"Maybe Haven will be a filmmaker because she's more creative. I feel like Honor can have more of the business sensibility."
Emma Watson has split from her boyfriend.
The 'Noah' actress and Oxford University student Matthew Janney, 22, went their separate ways a month ago but have agreed to remain friends.
It is believed the couple split after a year of dating because of the 24-year-old beauty's hectic work schedule.
A spokesperson for Emma confirmed the "amicable" split to the Daily Mail newspaper.
The news comes a few months after the 'Harry Potter' star was seen moving out of her London home with the help of the rugby player, sparking speculation they were moving in together.
The pair were assisted by professional movers and as they loaded her furniture, including rugs, cooking pots and chairs, into a moving truck.
An eyewitness said at the time: "The couple was very affectionate as they moved items. At one point Matthew wrapped his arms around Emma and kissed her."
The brunette beauty previously admitted she prefers to date regular guys rather than fellow actors and tries her best to "protect" them as she believes its "unfair" for them to be forced into the public eye.
She recently said: "I don't date people who are famous.
"I don't think it's fair that, all of a sudden, intimate details of their personal life are public as a direct result of me. I wish I could protect them."
The driver of a truck which crashed into Tracy Morgan's limo is disputing the comic's claim for financial hardship.
The former '30 Rock' star - who suffered a broken femur, broken nose and broken ribs during the crash on the New Jersey Turnpike in June - is suing retail giant Walmart claiming driver Kevin Roper caused the accident because he was too tired to drive, and the trucker has now filed documents asking to be included in the case so his rights are not compromised.
According to TMZ, Roper has also asked for the civil case brought by Tracy and the other victims to be put on hold until his criminal case is completed, though the 45-year-old star wants it to go ahead because he needs the money from a judgement, likely because he can no longer work.
The documents reportedly state that Tracy's financial problems are nothing compared with the driver's, who cites the fact the comic was travelling in a limo as proof.
Tracy's lawyer filed a lawsuit in July, claiming Walmart is responsible because the truck driver was allegedly fatigued when the accident occurred and that "Walmart knew or should have known" that he had been "awake for more than 24 consecutive hours."
The retail giant later hit back with nine defences, including that Tracy's injuries "were caused, in whole or in part, by plaintiffs' failure to properly wear an appropriate available seatbelt restraint device."
The actor spent 10 days in a critical condition in hospital and was later transferred to a rehab facility, but still "has a long way to go" before he fully recovers from the six-vehicle accident, which also killed his comedy writer friend James McNair.
Tracy's assistant, Jeffrey Millea, his wife Krista Millea and comedian Ardie Fuqua are also suing for negligence, and Krista is suing for loss of consortium.
The group are seeking compensatory and statutory damages, punitive damages, legal fees, as well as pre- and post judgement interest at a trial by jury.
Justin Bieber's dog has died.
The 'Believe' hitmaker is mourning the death of his beloved pooch Sammy, who lived with his grandparents in Ontario, Canada, because of his busy schedule.
Posting an old photograph of himself and his pet, Justin wrote on Instagram: "R.i.p Sammy you were the best puppy ever (sic)"
The 20-year-old star revealed in 2009 that the rescue dog became his "friend" when he moved to a new city and didn't know anyone.
He said at the time: "I have a dog, his name is Sammy, I got him about a year ago.
"We moved to a city where we didn't really know anybody so I wanted a friend, and Sam was that friend. I visited him in an animal shelter, I really encourage going out to an animal shelter to get a dog that doesn't have a home."
While Justin was devoted to Sammy, his treatment of some of his family's other animals has sparked controversy.
Last December, he bought a white and tan American bulldog puppy named Karma and gave it to his father Jeremy as a gift.
However, it emerged last month that Jeremy had left the dog with trainer Trevor Dvernichuk in February and never returned to pick it up.
Trevor said: "This is like taking your kid to school and not picking it back up."
The 'Never Say Never' star was criticised in 2013 for taking a young pet capuchin monkey named Mally on tour with him, and the primate was eventually seized by German customs officials after it was taken to Munich without the right vaccination and import paperwork.
Justin failed to send the documents or return for the monkey, so it was taken to an animal shelter and later moved to Serenegeti Park near Hanover.
In December 2012, the singer gave his pet hamster Pac to a fan but the creature died just three months later.
Take That want to perform at Glastonbury.
The trio - featuring Gary Barlow, Mark Own and Howard Donald - are desperate to perform at the annual event at Worthy Farm in Somerset, South West England, next June, but revealed festival organiser Michael Eavis will not return their calls.
Speaking at the BBC Music Awards in London last night (11.12.14) where they performed their single 'These Days', Howard said: "Historically we've never done festivals - we did try and contact Michael Eavis but he didn't reply."
The group released their first studio album as a trio, 'III', last month following the departure of Jason Orange from the band, and are so desperate to perform at the iconic event, they begged the Daily Star newspaper for help in a bid to persuade organisers to ask them to play.
Mark joked: "We keep leaving him messages, can you help us?"
Away from the muddy fields of South West England, the 'Relight My Fire' hitmakers admitted the dance floor vibes on their new record make them want to perform in nightclubs on Balaeric party island, Ibiza.
Howard added: "I did say we should go to Ibiza,
"We've got the tunes for clubs like Pacha now, that's where we want to play."
One Direction are not annoyed about their lack of Grammy Award nominations.
The band have not been nominated for any of the 83 prizes on offer at the prestigious US ceremony despite their third album 'Midnight Memories' being the biggest-selling album worldwide in 2013, but insist they are not angry about being blanked because there is such a high quality of music up for the prizes.
When asked if they were surprised not to be shortlisted, Harry Styles, 20, told BANG Showbiz: "I don't think so, I think there's so much incredible music out there, I don't think you can kick off."
The 'Steal My Girl' hitmakers - who performed the single at the inaugural BBC Music Awards at London's Earl's Court last night (11.12.14) - recently made history with their new album, 'Four', becoming the first band in the US Billboard 200 history to have their first four albums all debut at number one.
However, the group - which also features Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne and Niall Horan - said they are pleased with their achievements in their career such as the chart milestone, and the two American Music Awards they picked up in November.
Harry added: "When you look at the list of nominations, everyone is incredible so it's not like... people have different opinions and there are a lot of awards shows we do get nominated for so we're lucky for those things."
Seth Rogen has thanked Amy Pascal for "having the balls" to make 'The Interview'.
The 32-year-old actor praised the Sony Pictures president for agreeing to make the controversial film in the wake of the studio's hacking scandal.
Arriving at a screening of the film in Los Angeles, he said: "Before we start we just want to thank Amy Pascal for having the balls to make this movie!"
'The Interview' sees James Franco as presenter Dave Skylark and Rogen as his producer Aaron Rapoport and upon learning North Korean leader Kim Jong Un (Randall Park) is a big fan of their show 'Skylark Tonight', they manage to arrange an interview with the dictator.
However, as they prepare themselves for their trip to the North Korean capital of Pyongyang they are recruited by the C.I.A and tasked with assassinating Kim Jong Un.
Rogen's kind words for Pascal came after suggestions the studio may have been hacked by the North Korean's because of the subject of the new film.
Charles Chun - who plays General Jong in the movie - has no doubts about the origin of the hack, but thinks it may have benefited the film by making people more aware of it.
He shared: "I think we know who did this ... And I think the film is going to do really well at the box office because it's so funny."
