Rush ‘in talks’ over Las Vegas Sphere residency

Rush are being lined up for a residency at the Sphere in Las Vegas.

The Canadian rockers – who are made up of Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson – look set to follow in the footsteps of U2 and No Doubt by performing a run of shows at the Sin City venue.

A source told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column: “The Sphere has become the premium entertainment spot in Vegas.

“All the acts who have performed there have been at capacity for every show because audiences love the audio-visual experience.

“The plan now is to map out a moving roster of acts who can come in and out for the next five years.”

The Tom Sawyer hitmakers – who were previously said to have rejected a Vegas residency at the T-Mobile Arena in late 2015 and early 2016 – are thought to have been in talks with Sphere bosses “for a while”.

A deal could be signed in the coming weeks.

The source added: “Rush has an enormous audience across North America. Even though they are Canadian, their music and success has been huge in the US. Their hits, history and live performances make them an attractive proposition.

“Talks have been secretly going for now for a while, but the word is that contracts could be locked down in the next couple of weeks.”

Pink is expected to become the first female pop act to headline the Sphere in Las Vegas, after it was recently reported she had landed a lucrative residency at the futuristic venue.

A source told The Sun: “Pink’s shows are so full-on they have been long compared to a Las Vegas performance.

“Now after years of promoters trying, she has finally landed a deal that will see her play a massive residency in Sin City.

“The Sphere were determined to land Pink and pulled out all the stops, both in terms of money and what they can offer for a live show.

“An announcement is set to be made in the coming months and no doubt tickets will sell out in no time.”

What’s more, heavy metal outfit Metallica have confirmed a residency as Vegas’ Sphere.

The Enter Sandman rockers have 24 shows booked for their Life Burns Faster residency, which is due to kick off on October 1st.

Metallica were initially booked for eight nights, before adding another 16 dates.
