Seth Rogen unsure about link between Sony hack and The Interview

Seth Rogen is not sure whether 'The Interview' is responsible for the Sony hack.
Guardians of Peace have claimed responsibility for the Sony breach, and have pledged to continue releasing damaging documents unless the release of the film - which centres on an assassination plot against North Korea's leader Kim Jong-un - is halted.
Reflecting on the situation, the 32-year-old actor said: "I can't definitively say I know the ramifications of the storm. I mean, I don't know if the hacking honestly is because of our movie, definitively or not.
"I know that it has been the centre of a lot of media attention lately. It is weird because we just wanted to make a really funny, entertaining movie and the movie itself is very silly and wasn't meant to be controversial in any way."
Asked if he has any regrets about making the movie, Seth told 'Good Morning America': "At this point, it's too late to have any [second thoughts]. I mean, no, I think again, I like the movie. I can't in my head over-connect everything surrounding it with the movie itself.
"When I've seen the movie with 30-plus audiences in 30-plus movie theatres and every time, they really like it, that's what I have to keep coming back to.
"We set out to make a movie that was really entertaining to audiences and I genuinely think we did that. And that's where my job ends."

Hugh Jackman in talks over X-Men: Apocalypse

Hugh Jackman has held talks over starring in 'X-Men: Apocalypse'.
The 46-year-old star has played the role of Wolverine in the 'X-Men' franchise, and although he's not confirmed he'll be appearing in the eagerly awaited new film, he's revealed discussions have been staged between both parties.
He told The Happy Sad Podcast: "There's still a lot unknown about that, actually."
Hugh also revealed that plans to make another Wolverine movie are progressing.
He said: "I have been speaking to the guys and I'm not at liberty to say exactly what's going on, [but] there are some very exciting things about integrating the whole X-Men world, including the Wolverine movie. There are some really cool things going on."
Assuming Hugh is cast in 'X-Men: Apocalypse', he will appear on screen alongside a host of Hollywood stars, including the likes of James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender and Jennifer Lawrence, all of whom would reprise the roles they played earlier in the franchise.
Last month, it was also revealed that Oscar Isaac had signed on to play Apocalypse in the movie, which is set for release in 2016.
Meanwhile, 'The Wolverine' sequel is scheduled to be released on March 3, 2017.

Sony hack is ‘worse by magnitudes’ than nude photos leak

Aaron Sorkin thinks the Sony hack is "worse by magnitudes" than the leak of celebrity nude photos earlier this year.
The 53-year-old screenwriter's name appears in several documents leaked by Guardians of Peace, who claim to have hacked Sony in protest against Seth Rogen's film 'The Interview', a comedy about the assassination of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.
Comparing the hack to the nude photographs, Sorkin said: "This is the exact same situation, only worse by magnitudes because in this case the hackers stole this material and are threatening the lives of children.
"The thing we should be taking seriously first and foremost is privacy and dignity."
In one of the leaked emails, Sorkin claims that women's on-screen roles have a lower "degree of difficulty" than men's.
In the email, written in response to New York Times columnist Maureen Dowd, he makes reference to the 2011 romantic comedy 'Bridesmaids'.
He wrote: "That was a great and very interesting column today. I'd only take issue with one thing and that's the idea that something like Bridesmaids is seen as a fluke and that's why we don't see more movies like Bridesmaids.
"There's an implication that studio heads have a stack of Bridesmaids-quality scripts on their desk that they're not making and it's just not true. The scripts aren't there.
"That's why year in and year out, the guy who wins the Oscar for Best Actor has a much higher bar to clear than the woman who wins Best Actress. Cate [Blanchett] gave a terrific performance in Blue Jasmine but nothing close to the degree of difficulty for any of the five Best Actor nominees."

Katie Holmes learnt to fire gun for Miss Meadows

Katie Holmes had to learn how to shoot a gun for 'Miss Meadows'.
The 35-year-old actress really enjoyed playing the titular character in her latest movie - which tells the story of a teacher who moonlights as a vigilante - partly because she got to handle a powerful weapon.
She said: "Miss Meadows is a new character for me because she's kind of funny - a substitute teacher who turns into a vigilante when she sees a child being harmed.
"She was fun to play - plus, I learned how to shoot a gun."
Katie - who has eight-year-old daughter Suri Cruise with ex-husband Tom Cruise - admits she is pleased to be back on the big screen after a few years off, and is "excited" about what other acting roles she might be offered in the future.
She added to HELLO! magazine: "Work ebbs and flows but I have been fortunate recently to have more projects come my way.
"And because my child is growing up, I have a bit more time to focus on my work - and I'm excited about it."

Rebel Wilson: Matt Lucas inspired Tilly

Rebel Wilson based her 'Night At The Museum: Secret of the Tomb' character on her friend Matt Lucas.
The Australian comedian lives with the 'Alice in Wonderland' star and has revealed his own personality and his 'Little Britain' comic creation Vicky Pollard inspired British museum night guard Tilly in the children's film.
Speaking about Tilly's accent and boorish behaviour, Rebel said: "I live with a great British comedian, Matt Lucas, and I tried to channel him a little bit, which is a bit cheeky. I loved being a little bit street as well, that's just how I like to roll, like a gangster. So I really tried to bring that to the night guard, even though I don't think that was really envisaged with a character like Tilly , that's quite a posh name."
'The Pitch Perfect' actress also joked she got some advice on how to portray the character from Oscar winner Daniel Day Lewis - who is renowned for his method acting techniques.
Discussing how she prepared for the role, Rebel joked to BANG Showbiz: "I guarded a museum for 18 months, I spoke a lot to Daniel Day Lewis and he said if I wanted to win an Oscar I'd have to put in the hard yards."
Rebel walked the red carpet at the movie's UK premiere in London on Monday night (15.12.14) and was joined by several of her co-stars including Ben Stiller - who is reprising his role as museum night guard Larry Daley for a third time - and his wife Christine Taylor, Sir Ben Kingsley, Owen Wilson, Dan Stevens and his wife Susie Hariet and Ricky Gervais who was accompanied by his partner Jane Fallon.

Aaron Sorkin thinks women have it easier in Hollywood

Aaron Sorkin thinks women's on-screen roles have a lower "degree of difficulty" than men's.
A leaked email, published by The Daily Beast, shows the 53-year-old producer arguing that Meryl Streep and Dame Helen Mirren are two of the only female stars "who can play with the boys".
In the email, written in response to New York Times columnist Maureen Dowd, Aaron discusses the 2011 romantic comedy 'Bridesmaids'.
He observed: "That was a great and very interesting column today.
Later, he added: "Helen Mirren and Meryl Streep can play with the boys but there just aren't that many tour-de-force roles out there for women."

Ghostbusters spin-off movie is in the works

Channing Tatum and Chris Pratt could feature in a 'Ghostbusters' spin-off movie.
Kevin Feig is currently working on a female-led 'Ghostbusters 3' and according to a leaked email from Sony, Joe and Anthony Russo - the directors of 'Captain America: The Winter Soldier' - are keen to make a complementary movie.
In an email titled 'Ghostbusters' and seen by The Daily Beast, Channing says: "Let us show the world The DarkSide and let us fight it with all the glory and epicness of a HUGE BATMAN BEGINS MOVIE (sic)."
Later, the 34-year-old hunk added: "I know we can make this a huge franchise. Fun adventure craziness. COME OONNNN!!!"
Meanwhile, Hannah Minghella, Columbia Pictures co-president of production, revealed some additional details about the potential movie in a second email.
She wrote: "The Russos, Channing ... have been brainstorming ideas and want to create a whole new mythology that would support multiple movies (the way that Nolan reinvented Batman).
"To be clear - the Russos want to produce (not direct) and while Channing and Chris are looking for a movie to do together they haven't mentioned this to him yet because they weren't sure how we'd react.
"They want to make it simultaneously super scary while also super funny. They love the idea that they are mortal heroes who are believers in the paranormal and the only people who can defend mankind from a paranormal threat."

Christoph Waltz ‘will not be playing the head of Spectre’

Christoph Waltz will not be playing the head of Spectre in the next James Bond movie.
The Oscar-winning actor has been widely expected to assume the role of legendary villain Ernst Stavro Blofeld, head of the Special Executive for Counter-intelligence, Terrorism, Revenge and Extortion - but Christoph, 58, insists his part in the much-anticipated new film is more complex than speculation suggests.
Asked if he would head the fictional terrorism organisation, Christoph told Collider: "No. No. It's more interesting than that."
This comes shortly after Daniel Craig said the script for 'Spectre' is "better than we had last time".
According to the 46-year-old actor - who's playing James Bond for the fourth time in the new film - 'Spectre' should be superior to the 2012 hit 'Skyfall', which made more than $1.1 billion at the worldwide box office.
He said: "We've got an amazing cast and, I think, a better script than we had last time."
Daniel explained that the new script builds on some of the themes explored in 'Skyfall'.
He said: "We started something in 'Skyfall', it felt like a beginning of something. This feels like a continuation of that. We're going to put all of those elements in, and much more."
