Neil Patrick Harris to host US Saturday Night Takeaway

Neil Patrick Harris is to host a US version of 'Saturday Night Takeaway'.
The ITV variety show is expected to hit US screens next year after the rights were bought by NBC, with the 'How I Met Your Mother' star being brought in as the programme's presenter.
Speaking to Vulture, the 41-year-old actor said: "As I watched the show, I couldn't stop smiling. Now that I've seen many seasons, my face hurts. It's a game changer.
"Nothing like this has been done before, and its unique structure fits right into my random skill set. I can't wait to roll up my sleeves and have some fun!"
The British version of the show has been hosted by presenting duo Anthony McPartlin and Declan Donnelly - commonly referred to as Ant & Dec - since 2002, with them filming 11 series in total, as well as a UK live tour.
In a statement, the pair expressed their excitement for the show to head stateside, saying: "As co-creators of the show, we're hugely excited and very proud that Saturday Night Takeaway is heading to the USA.
"There is no-one better equipped to host it there than Neil Patrick Harris and we're looking forward to working with the team to help make Takeaway a favourite with families across America."

Jennifer Ellison ‘heartbroken’ over Lynda Bellginham’s death

Jennifer Ellison is "heartbroken" over Lynda Bellingham's death.
The former 'Brookside' actress - who appeared with the late star in the stage adaptation of 'Calendar Girls' from 2010 to 2011 - confessed she was left devastated when Lynda passed away last week at the age of 63 after losing her battle with cancer.
The blonde beauty - who also starred alongside the late singer Bernie Nolan in the production - added that the former 'Loose Women' star had been like a mother to her and offered her condolences to Lynda's husband Michael Pattemore.
She told OK! magazine: "Lynda was like a mother figure to me. She loved her husband so much and Michael will be absolutely devastated.
"We toured together for two years, and with Bernie Nolan too. I've lost two women I spent a lot of time with, who I really loved. It's heartbreaking."
Jennifer - who gave birth to her third son, Charlie, with her husband Rob Tickle in September - also opened up about the moment she thought she'd lost the baby after he stopped breathing during a feeding.
The 31-year-old star - who already has 15-month-old Harry and Bobby, four - explained: "I was feeding him on the sofa one night, he took a deep breath and started choking.
"I turned him over and started patting his back and he just went blue and limp.
"I'm so relieved he's okay now. I thought he was dead at this point. It was awful. The whole thing went on for about ten minutes but it felt like four hours."

Catherine Tyldesley’s ‘movie-scene’ proposal

Catherine Tyldesley felt like she was in a movie when her boyfriend proposed to her.
The 'Coronation Street' star - who plays Eva Price on the ITV soap - admits couldn't stop crying when her husband-to-be, Top Pitford, popped the question as the pair holidayed in the romantic city of Venice, in Italy.
Tom, 27, told OK! magazine: "I was keeping my eye out for somewhere nice to propose before the meal, but I played it down as much as possible because I wanted it to be a surprise. We found ourselves on a bridge looking over Venice, near St Mark's Square, which was quiet and perfect. I'd taken the ring with us, which I'd wrapped up like a parcel. I got it out and said, 'I want you to open this'."
Catherine continued: "I opened it, then when I got to the ring box, he took it back and got down on one knee and said, 'Will you marry me?' I couldn't stop crying, I said yes through my tears! I'm an emotional wreck anyway at the minute. We stayed at that bridge for an hour taking pictures. It was like being in a film."
The couple - who are expecting their first child together next spring - are yet to plan their big day, although Catherine, 31, insists they will wait until their baby son is old enough to be a part of the nuptials.
She explained: "We haven't set a date or booked a venue yet - we'll have the baby first - but we've spoken about bits and bobs.
"We both said it would be better when the baby's at least a year old because we want our son to be part of our wedding."

Jess Wright furious over Ricky’s saucy messages

Jessica Wright is reportedly "furious" after finding flirty text messages from another woman on her boyfriend's phone.
The 29-year-old beauty found the saucy texts on Ricky Rayment's phone while the couple were at their 'The Only Way Is Essex' co-star Jasmin Walia's Diwali party at Brentwood haunt the Sugar Hut on Sunday (26.10.14).
A source told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "Jess is furious. Ricky has cheated before, so this is totally unacceptable to her."
The pair got together two years ago but have had a rocky relationship after the 24-year-old hunk was exposed as a cheater on the ITV2 show last year, and was once again forced to deny claims from former 'X Factor' contestant Lottie Lou in September that he had bedded her.
Now the lothario has once again found himself in hot water, after he was caught exchanging messages with another 'X Factor' contestant, 21-year-old singer Lydia Lucy.
The source continued: "She found flirty messages between him and Lydia and it felt like history repeating itself.
"She confronted him during filming, which really upset Ricky. He felt she could have asked him off camera, so it got his back up."
The explosive exchange between the troubled couple will air on Wednesday (29.10.14) evening's episode of 'TOWIE' and is set to leave the couple's future in question.
They added: "It was heated - they were screaming. She expected him to just apologise but instead the row could end their two-year relationship."

Cheryl Fernandez-Versini furious after use of old surname

Cheryl Fernandez-Versini was reportedly furious after being introduced as Cheryl Cole.
The 'X Factor' judge officially changed her name after tying the knot with French restaurateur Jean-Bernard Fernandez-Versini earlier this year, dropping her first husband, soccer star Ashley Cole's surname for good.
However, the talent show's warm-up act Ian Royce is said to have referred to her by her old name before Sunday's (26.10.14) results show because he was struggling to pronounce her new French name correctly.
A source claimed Cheryl "looked really peeved. She said, 'Cole is not my name!"
The insider added to The Sun newspaper: "Royce said he had trouble pronouncing it but she gave him a withering look and said it wasn't hard to say 'unless you were arrogant and had no common sense'."
Jean-Bernard was sitting in the audience during the incident, alongside show boss Simon Cowell's right-hand woman Sinitta - who claims an edict was handed out to everyone in the studio instructing them not to refer to Cheryl as Cheryl Cole.
Sinitta explained: "Do not use the C-word in this building. The four-letter C-word, Cole."
However, the 'Crazy Stupid Love' singer is now said to have forgiven Ian - who is also a warm-up act on 'Britain's Got Talent' and for One Direction.
A source revealed: "She and Roycey have now kissed and made up."

Caroline Flack and Ola Jordan snog in nightclub

Caroline Flack and Ola Jordan reportedly locked lips on Saturday night (25.10.14).
The pair are currently competing on BBC One dance contest 'Strictly Come Dancing' but put their rivalry aside for a saucy kiss at Faces nightclub in Ilford, Essex, after filming Saturday evening's show.
A source told The Sun newspaper: "Caroline and Ola started dancing very raunchily with each other on the dance floor.
"They were lapping up the attention and really enjoying letting their hair down after a few drinks. One thing led to another and they were dared to kiss. It started as a smooch but turned into a full snog.
"They couldn't keep their hands off each other and seemed to enjoy putting on a naughty show."
Despite the cheeky exchange, friends of the stars have insisted that it was just a joke, and that Ola is still loved up with her former 'Strictly' pro husband James Jordan, and Caroline - whose professional dance partner is Pasha Kovalev - is comfortable in her relationship with music manager Jack Street.
A friend added: "James and Jack find it hilarious. Caroline and Ola were just having fun after the excitement of getting through the live show.
"Both girls are straight so it was a laugh - they went through with a dare."

Tom Baker salutes Peter Capaldi

Tom Baker "salutes" Peter Capaldi for his portrayal of Doctor Who.
The 80-year-old star - who was the fourth actor to take on the role of the iconic Time Lord - has credited the new Doctor's performance in the hit BBC One sci-fi series and described him as a "wonderful choice" for the role.
Tom told Radio Times magazine: "He's a wonderful choice to play the Doctor. Instantly one felt: this fellow comes from far, far away, he's strange. An instant frisson. And what's the word? Yes, got it! Alien, he's an alien. I salute him."
Also quick to praise the 56-year-old actor - who joined the series earlier this year - was Soft Cell singer Marc Almond who likened his dark and mysterious performance on the show to that of the original Doctor, William Hartnell, the third Time Lord Jon Pertwee and the legendary Tom Baker himself, who starred from 1974-1981.
He explained: "Peter Capaldi brings back a touch of darkness and ageless mystery to the Doctor that I feel had been missing, as well as a dash of menace and mischief. He has some of the abrasiveness of William Hartnell, the stylishness of Jon Pertwee and the eccentricity of Tom Baker - all my favourite doctors."

Simon Cowell asks Ed Sheeran and Ryan Tedder for advice

Simon Cowell asked Ed Sheeran and Ryan Tedder for advice on 'The X Factor'.
The music mogul is reportedly concerned about the poor song choices on the show so asked the 'A Team' hitmaker and the OneRepublic frontman to join a production meeting after Sunday's (26.10.14) results show, on which they had both performed.
A source told The Sun newspaper: "Simon respects their opinions as two of the biggest-selling artists and songwriters in the world.
"Ed and Ryan have worked with Syco artists over the past few years and Simon is friends with them both.
"The show already has one of the best music teams in the world, including One Direction's producer and writer Julian Bunetta.
"But Simon is always keen to hear new ideas and wanted to take the opportunity to have two of the biggest music talents in the world become involved."
The emergency meeting came after Simon branded the sing-off between Jake Quickenden - who was subsequently voted off the show - and Only the Young "horrible".
He said: "I don't know what is going on with these sing-offs at the moment, but they were both horrible. The vocals were all over the place."

Boy George hints at X Factor judging role offer

Boy George has hinted he turned down a judging role on 'The X Factor'.
The flamboyant pop star is a big fan of the pop star search show and watches every week, but he could have been on the panel critiquing the acts.
Speaking about his favourite acts on the programme, he said: "I think the young girl Lauren Platt is amazing and obviously the Italian guy, Andrea Faustini, is very good. But you have to remember it's a TV show so there is only ever going to be one winner and I just think a lot of the acts this year, like Chloe Jasmine, I think she's great, she is such a natural star, but all the songs they gave her were just wrong and that's why she went. She should be singing jazz, she's jazz singer. They should get me in there and I'd show them what to do. I think a lot of the singers have been really badly advised because at the end of the day it is about TV it's not about music necessarily."
When asked if he'd like to be a judge on the series, the 53-year-old singer replied: "How do you know that I already haven't been asked?"
He added to BANG Showbiz: "No I'm not telling you. I mean at the moment I'm a bit too busy for that but we'll see, if it's still going. Maybe I'll do it on another type of TV show but I do find 'The X Factor' entertaining."
The Culture Club star admits he can't resist taking to Twitter whenever 'X Factor' is on to air his grievances and give praise where it's due.
He said: "I suppose like everyone else, if I'm in and I'm watching it I get carried away with the decisions people make and I'm like,' 'Oh come on!' So I get on Twitter."
