Neil Patrick Harris is to host a US version of ‘Saturday Night Takeaway’.
The ITV variety show is expected to hit US screens next year after the rights were bought by NBC, with the ‘How I Met Your Mother’ star being brought in as the programme’s presenter.
Speaking to Vulture, the 41-year-old actor said: "As I watched the show, I couldn’t stop smiling. Now that I’ve seen many seasons, my face hurts. It’s a game changer.
"Nothing like this has been done before, and its unique structure fits right into my random skill set. I can’t wait to roll up my sleeves and have some fun!"
The British version of the show has been hosted by presenting duo Anthony McPartlin and Declan Donnelly – commonly referred to as Ant & Dec – since 2002, with them filming 11 series in total, as well as a UK live tour.
In a statement, the pair expressed their excitement for the show to head stateside, saying: "As co-creators of the show, we’re hugely excited and very proud that Saturday Night Takeaway is heading to the USA.
"There is no-one better equipped to host it there than Neil Patrick Harris and we’re looking forward to working with the team to help make Takeaway a favourite with families across America."
