'Coronation Street' actor Michael Le Vell is "overjoyed" his character is getting a new love interest.
The 50-year-old actor, who plays car mechanic Kevin Webster on the ITV soap, was cleared of sex abuse charges last year and is said to be thrilled bosses have chosen to include him in a major new storyline.
A source said: "Michael was very emotional when he saw the script for the first time.
"There were tears in his eyes.
"Now that he has got his hands on a juicy plot line once again he is overjoyed."
Kevin is to fall for troublemaker Jenny Bradley (Sally Ann Matthews) - who is set to return to the cobbles after a 22 year hiatus - after she finds him on an online dating website, but producer Stuart Blackburn has revealed he may regret getting involved with her.
Meanwhile, Kevin's on-screen wife Sally (Sally Dynevor) has teased his new relationship will not go down well on the street.
She said: "Certainly Kevin is pleased to see her [Jenny] initially but he is about the only one who is ... We just had some scripts in and there is a brilliant hour-long episode coming up with Sally."
A source added to the Daily Star newspaper: "Kevin's love life in the show has already had more ups and downs than the average rollercoaster.
"And now he's about to board the big dipper."

Australia will take part in this year's Eurovision Song Contest.
The annual musical competition is normally only open to European countries and members of the European Broadcasting Union, but to celebrate its 60th anniversary, organisers are allowing an entry from Down Under - where it is hugely popular - to "join the party".
Contest supervisor Jon Ola Sand said: "It's a daring and at the same time incredibly exciting move. It is our way of saying let's celebrate this party together!"
Australia will be fast-tracked to the final, which takes place on May 23 in Vienna, Austria, and will be allowed to vote in both semi-finals, as well as the grand final.
The European Broadcasting Union said Australia had been given a wildcard for the final "to not reduce the chances" of the semi-final participants and because of the "one-off nature" of its participation.
Though Australia's entry is a one-off, should they win, they will be allowed to return to defend their crown in 2016.
However, the show will still be held in a European city.
While Australia has never been a part of the competition, past UK entrants including Olivia Newton John, Gina G and the New Seekers all hail from Down Under.
Austrian drag artist Conchita Wurst won last year's contest.

Michael Gambon thinks 'Strictly Come Dancing' is for "common" people.
The 'Casual Vacancy' actor is said to have a keen interest in ballet but insists he would never dream of appearing on the BBC One ballroom dance contest.
Asked if he'd ever consider taking part, he said: "No! I'm a terrible snob about it. I think, 'Oh, that's a bit common'."
The 74-year-old star - who admits he's worried by the number of young people attending drama school who could end up never getting jobs - thinks its great there are so many actors from posh British backgrounds doing well in Hollywood at the moment.
Quizzed on what he makes of stars such as Benedict Cumberbatch and Eddie Redmayne - who both went to public schools - he told Radio Times magazine: "The more Old Etonians the better, I think! The two or three who are playing at the moment are geniuses, aren't they?
"The more geniuses you get, the better. It's to do with being actors and wanting to do it; it's nothing to do with where they come from."

Rachel Stevens doesn't worry about her weight.
The 36-year-old singer was crowned FHM magazine's Sexiest Woman of All Time last year but said she has never felt pressure to conform to a particular body shape and didn't worry about shedding weight after giving birth to her daughters, four-year-old Amelie and 10-month-old Minnie.
She said: "I was quite fortunate [with my figure during pregnancy]; I put on weight of course, but I don't think it was excessive. After a baby, I don't think your body feels back to normal for a year or so, so I didn't put myself under any pressure. I eat healthily anyway - and it's not about being thin, it's about being physically fit."
As well as feeling easy-going about her size after giving birth, Rachel refuses to worry about her weight and doesn't own any weighing scales so is unable to see how heavy she is, even if she wanted to know.
She admitted: "I don't have scales! I think your body weight changes all the time from day to day, even just hormonally, so I don't bother with that, it's more about how I feel in my clothes."
The S Club 7 member added she has no qualms about what she eats, and is actually excited about making even more food in 2015 after her husband Alex Bourne was told he can't eat any foods containing gluten.
She told OK! magazine: "My New Year's resolution is to cook more. Alex has been diagnosed with Coeliac disease, he's totally intolerant to gluten, so I got a couple of cookbooks all about gluten-free food. So that's my resolution - I'm looking forward to it!"

Joe Pasquale considers 'I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here!' to be "popcorn for the eyes".
The 53-year-old comedian - who won the fourth series of the ITV reality TV show in 2004 - still enjoys watching the programme, but admits the winner is quickly forgotten.
Asked whether watching the most-recent series - won by World Superbike champion Carl Fogarty - caused memories to come flooding back, he exclusively told BANG Showbiz: "It's popcorn for the eyes. It brought back a lot of memories - I loved it as an experience, but it was 11 years ago that I did it.
"It was like going on a crap holiday and coming back as Elvis, that's the way I've always looked at it. I won, but no-one gives a monkey's once the next reality TV show comes on."
Joe - who's created his own versions of masterpieces by Renaissance artists Leonardo da Vinci, Donatello, Raphael and Michelangelo to mark the new season of 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' on Nicktoons - said he doesn't consider his 'I'm A Celebrity' triumph to be a landmark moment in his career.
He explained: "I've done loads of other stuff since then. I mean, I've gone to Hollywood and done 'The Muppet Show Live', which was fantastic. I've done stand-up, I've done 'The Producers'.
"I'm not dissing it at all, I loved it. But it wasn't anything that I'm going to go, 'Oh my God, I did that 11 years ago.' I love it. But it was a job."
Watch season three of 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' at 9:30am every Saturday on Nicktoons.

Mark Wright banned James 'Arg' Argent from his wedding.
The 'Only Way Is Essex' star has revealed his best pal and former co-star told him he wouldn't be invited to his upcoming nuptials to fiancee Michelle Keegan if he didn't turn his life around.
Speaking about being suspended from the ITV Be show for failing to turn up to filming amid rumours of drug and alcohol abuse, James shared: "I'm embarrassed to say this but so many people tried [to help] and got pushed away.
"Mark told me I wasn't invited to his wedding if I didn't change. When I went into rehab he got in touch because he was so proud of me."
Arg spent his 27th birthday and Christmas in a rehab facility last year after finally deciding to face his demons and he now wishes he'd acted sooner.
He told Now magazine: "Underneath everything I was badly depressed. I was so anxious and tired."
The seemingly happy-go-lucky reality star claims his friends and family - including ex-girlfriend Lydia Bright - attempting to get him to seek help didn't work because he had to realise for himself what was wrong.
He explained: "At that point I was hiding from everyone in my flat. Lydia would beg me to open the door. My mum would come round crying and I'd pretend I wasn't there. I just couldn't face anyone."
However, after losing over a stone in weight since he first started rehab 65 days ago, Arg admits he's feeling much more positive and wants to prove he's "worthy" of returning to TOWIE.
He added: "I want to make all the people I shamed proud of me again."

Gary 'Gaz' Beadle fails to recognise his former fling on 'Ex on the Beach'.
The 'Geordie Shore' star will be seen looking confused when a stunning brunette named Emily Colley emerges from the ocean on the MTV dating show, claiming to be one of his exes.
He will be heard exclaiming, 'Who the f**k is that?' before adding: "I think I banged her but I don't know who she is."
The 26-year-old star - who previously claimed to have slept with more than 1,000 women - claims he's shocked he can't remember her as he usually only forgets about pulling less attractive girls.
He continues: "I do get this thing quite a lot but normally if I bang a 4/1- I won't remember - but she's fit. I kind of recognise her face - but who is she?"
Gary goes onto boast that his memory of women isn't the best as it's his job to chat them up and bed them.
According to The Sun newspaper, he added of his co-stars: "Some boys in there might think they're players, but I do this for a living."
However, his blasé attitude doesn't go down too well with Emily, who describes him as the "worst one-night stand" she's ever had.
Meanwhile, Gary ends up in bed with singleton Melissa - who is an international DJ and was previously romancing Essex boy co-star Connor - for some steamy action under the sheets on tonight's (10.02.15) episode of 'Ex on the Beach', which airs at 10pm on MTV.

Sally Ann Matthews is confident about her return to 'Coronation Street' after overcoming bulimia.
The 44-year-old actress - who originally appeared on the ITV soap as Rita Fairclough's feisty foster daughter Jenny Bradley 22 years ago - endured an eight-month battle against the eating disorder during her first stint on the show following a biting remark from a TV critic.
Sally - who returns in scenes to air next week - explained: "When I was in Corrie first time around there was no real celebrity culture. No Twitter, Facebook.
"In those days, before social media, people were much more focused on the TV critics - who were sort of celebrities themselves."
Sally explained that her off-screen troubles started when a critic questioned the plausibility of a storyline in which Jenny got engaged to a French man.
She recalled the critic saying: "What would a handsome Frenchman boy like Patric see in a little pudding like Jenny Bradley?"
Sally explained how the remark triggered a downward spiral in her personal life.
She told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "For me that was then eight months of active bulimia and then recovery.
"What was difficult was other people's expectations of what my life was like.
"As a teenager I was at school but working, so friends would tell me they were having a party but assume I was busy or wouldn't be interested.
"Also, everybody felt they knew you, and because you played a certain character that you were like that. That was hard."
Sally's return to the show sees her go on a date with car mechanic Kevin Webster, who's played by Michael Le Vell.
She said of Jenny's upcoming storylines:"I think she always probably fancied him back in the day.
"Whether she is using him to get back in, only time will tell. Whether the fling will develop who knows?"

Katie Price is being lined up for 'Strictly Come Dancing'.
The 36-year-old reality star is at the centre of a bidding war between TV channels after beating the likes of Katie Hopkins, Michelle Visage and Calum Best to win 'Celebrity Big Brother', with 'I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!' bosses reportedly keen for Katie to star on the show for a third time.
A source revealed: "Kate's back to her reality TV best so she is bound to capitalise on her newly-found form.
"She made a big deal of being herself in the 'CBB' house and came across as a very normal mum."
As well as the ITV jungle show, the former glamour model - who has children Harvey, 12, Junior, nine, and Princess, seven from previous relationships as well 17-month-old son Jett and five-month-old daughter Bunny with current husband Kieran Hayler - has also had her odds slashed on being picked up for the next series of BBC One's ratings winner 'Strictly Come Dancing'.
The source added: "So I expect 'Strictly' will be a favourite, as it would allow her to continue in that vein."
Following her appearances on 'I'm A Celebrity' in 2004 and 2009, her odds of returning now stand at 4-1, while bookmakers have the chance of her featuring on 'Strictly' at 10-1.
A spokesperson for William Hill told the Daily Star newspaper: "We fully expect further reality appearances this year."
As well as the established programmes, the mother-of-five is also believed to be in talks with Channel 5 executives to make a documentary on disability benefits in the UK following a heated debate about Harvey's government-funded travel while in the house.
