Joe Pasquale says I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! is ‘popcorn for the eyes’

Joe Pasquale considers ‘I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!’ to be "popcorn for the eyes".

The 53-year-old comedian – who won the fourth series of the ITV reality TV show in 2004 – still enjoys watching the programme, but admits the winner is quickly forgotten.

Asked whether watching the most-recent series – won by World Superbike champion Carl Fogarty – caused memories to come flooding back, he exclusively told BANG Showbiz: "It’s popcorn for the eyes. It brought back a lot of memories – I loved it as an experience, but it was 11 years ago that I did it.

"It was like going on a crap holiday and coming back as Elvis, that’s the way I’ve always looked at it. I won, but no-one gives a monkey’s once the next reality TV show comes on."

Joe – who’s created his own versions of masterpieces by Renaissance artists Leonardo da Vinci, Donatello, Raphael and Michelangelo to mark the new season of ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ on Nicktoons – said he doesn’t consider his ‘I’m A Celebrity’ triumph to be a landmark moment in his career.

He explained: "I’ve done loads of other stuff since then. I mean, I’ve gone to Hollywood and done ‘The Muppet Show Live’, which was fantastic. I’ve done stand-up, I’ve done ‘The Producers’.

"I’m not dissing it at all, I loved it. But it wasn’t anything that I’m going to go, ‘Oh my God, I did that 11 years ago.’ I love it. But it was a job."

Watch season three of ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ at 9:30am every Saturday on Nicktoons.
