EastEnders’ Ben Mitchell tipped to be Lucy Beale killer

EastEnders' Ben Mitchell will be revealed as Lucy Beale's killer, according to a leading private investigator.
Bookmaker William Hill has teamed up with Cerberus Investigations Limited to try to work out who bumped off the blonde beauty - played by Hetti Bywater - last year in one of the soap's biggest whodunits, and the private investigator has his money on Lucy's uncle (Harry Reid) being the culprit.
Duncan Mee of Cerberus Investigations Ltd said: "Having looked at the evidence, Ben Mitchell clearly sticks out. He is an active criminal who has killed before.
"His dodgy persona is concreted with the robbery at the off-licence on the murder night with accomplice Jay Brown.
"The crucial detail is that CCTV footage shows Jay using a bus to get to the off-licence whereas Lucy's body was dumped in the woods needing a car and this suggests it could be Ben."
Punters also now believe Ben - who was previously put in prison for killing Heather Trott (Cheryl Fergison) - could well be behind the crime as he has shot to 5/1 second favourite in the betting with William Hill.
His girlfriend Abi Branning (Lorna Fitzgerald) is 4/1 favourite, while Lucy's father Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt) is available at 12/1, his ex Denise Fox (Diane Parish) is 14/1, and notorious Walford bad-boy Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) is 16/1.
A William Hill spokesperson said: "We have been overwhelmed with the interest in the EastEnders' story line.
"There have been a number of significant gambles particularly on both Ian Beale and Phil Mitchell but Abi remains our favourite. We're looking forward to the real killer being unveiled on the 20th.
"This will definitely be the biggest TV gamble to date smashing the £200,000 we saw on Who Killed Archie? and the £250,000 we saw for Who Shot JR?."
The Lucy whodunit has captured the imagination of the nation and all will finally be revealed in a live 'EastEnders' episode to celebrate the show's 30th anniversary next Friday (20.02.15).

Amanda Holden’s husband ‘killing’ Valentines Day

Amanda Holden's husband has "killed" Valentines Day.
The 'Britain's Got Talent' judge has revealed she's been put off the idea of celebrating the romantic occasion by her husband Chris Hughes' laid back attitude.
Asked if she had any plans for the big day on Saturday (14.02.15), she told BANG Showbiz at the London auditions of 'Britain's Got Talent' at the Dominion Theatre: "Oh my God, my husband actually very romantically said to me, 'Oh, do I have to get you something on Saturday?'
"I was like, 'Yes, but now you've asked me that's killing it!' "
The 43-year-old beauty - who has daughters Alexa and Hollie with Chris - also spoke about the "great talent" she's seen at auditions for the ITV talent show across the country so far and claimed she's glad some singers choose 'BGT' over 'The X Factor'.
Quizzed on whether she thinks wannabe popstars should choose to go on other shows, she said: "No, because I think you stand more of a chance on 'Britain's Got Talent' if you're a singer. So we get an awful lot of brilliant singers who are too scared to go on 'The Voice' or 'The X Factor' because they're scared they might get lost, but on our show it's much more of a showcase for them."
However, Amanda doesn't want to see 'The X Factor' open its doors to a wider range of talents, as she fears it'd mark the end of 'BGT'.
She added: "I just don't want any juggling or motorcycle acts going on 'The X Factor' because that would just kill it."

Simon Cowell ‘so bored’ of Ed Sheeran wannabes

Simon Cowell is "so bored" of people thinking they're the next Ed Sheeran.
The music mogul is getting annoyed with wannabe popstars coming on his talent shows and assuming they're going to get the same reception as the 'Thinking Out Loud' hitmaker just because they can play the guitar.
Speaking at the London auditions of 'Britain's Got Talent' at the Dominion Theatre, he said: "I'm so bored of everyone thinking they can be the next Ed Sheeran because we're not going to find him on this show. So we're actually almost a guitar free zone now."
The 55-year-old star even admitted he'd consider banning contestants from bringing guitars with them to auditions in order to avoid it.
Asked if he'd thought about enforcing a guitar ban, he continued: "Funnily enough I wouldn't mind so much, it's just these people who only ever play in their bedrooms and they think they've found this great version of a song no one else has heard but everyone's doing it. It's so annoying."
Meanwhile, Simon thinks the ITV show will stand the test of time by continuing to air even once he's passed away.
Quizzed on how much longer he thinks the talent show can keep going, he said: "About a thousand years. I think we will be having ... I mean, I'll be dead by then unfortunately, unless I can freeze myself and come back.
"Maybe I'll just be a head on the table because apparently when you freeze yourself you've got to cut everything else off. I can see that happening."

Kirsty Gallacher ‘obsessed’ with washing

Kirsty Gallacher is "obsessed" with washing.
The Sky Sports News presenter cannot get enough of ridding her and sons Oscar, eight, and five-year-old Jude's clothes of dirt because she loves the clean smell their garments give off when they come out of the washing machine, but the raven-haired beauty cannot stand ironing and hanging up clothes afterwards.
She exclusively told BANG Showbiz: "I'm obsessed by washing. I love washing, I've got a real thing about washing.
"I love the smell when it's clean - it's wonderful.
"What I really hate is folding things when they come out of the tumble dryer, that's my worst, that is like the job from absolute ... urgh. It's such a boring job and ironing isn't great either. I do love washing though."
The 39-year-old TV presenter has taken her love of washing to the next level by joining forces with Persil to raise money for Red Nose Day by getting gunged for the cause, and she is keen for others to follow suit.
Kirsty is hoping the activity will become a similar craze to the Ice Bucket Challenge and insists she much preferred getting a gunging with the bright blue liquid - which can easily be made with water, blue paint powder and corn flour - because it wasn't freezing cold.
She added: "It's a bit like the Ice Bucket Challenge so I'm wondering if it's going to become a new trend. It would drum up even more awareness for the charity so that would be good.
"Doing that was harder than being gunged - it was horrible! It was quite a warm day, it was summer and outside. It was just a horrible experience. I just dreaded that bucket going over my head.
"But the gunge wasn't so bad because it's not as cold. I thought it might hurt my eyes, I'm quite sensitive in my eyes, but it didn't. It was absolutely fine and it won't stain."
To celebrate Persil's limited edition bottle for Red Nose Day, Kirsty is encouraging families to make their faces funny with gunge. Each bottle donates to Comic Relief and tackles the toughest stains, even gunge! Visit www.persil.co.uk

Georgia May Foote excited for life after Coronation Street

Georgia May Foote is "excited" about taking on new parts once she leaves 'Coronation Street'.
The 24-year-old actress recently announced she is quitting her role as Katy Armstrong after four-and-a-half years on the soap and although she is "sad" to be walking away from such a great show she can't wait to take on new challenges.
Discussing her departure on 'This Morning', she said: "I'm very excited. I'm a bit sad as well, obviously I'm going to miss loads of people, the crew, the production team, my cast mates and all that, but I'm ready. It's been nearly five years now so it's a long stint to do there and I'm excited."
Georgia's character Katy will ditch the cobbles of Weatherfield for the sunshine of Portugal with her son Joseph after reconciling with her absent mother Linda Armstrong - played by former 'EastEnders' star Jacqueline Leonard.
She makes her decision after discovering her dad Owen Armstrong secretly prevented Katy and her sister Izzy from having a relationship with their mum.
When quizzed by hosts Phillip Schofield and Christine Bleakley
on how she will leave, Georgia said: "Katy does have a chat with Linda and (her sister) Izzy then finds out the truth and it literally flips ... Katy then goes off to Portugal, she waves goodbye."
At the end of the interview, Georgia was surprised with a cake and flowers to mark her 24th birthday today (11.02.15).
Thanking Phillip and Christine for the gifts, she gushed: "The cake's got my name on it and everything! Thank you, that's made my day. I'm so lucky!"

Pam St. Clement based Pat on baker

Pam St. Clement based her 'EastEnders' character Pat Butcher's look on a bus conductor and a bakery worker.
The 72-year-old actress - who starred on the popular BBC soap from 1986 until 2012 - has revealed the inimitable style of the Walford stalwart, famous for big earrings and colourful blouses, was inspired by just two normal women she met in her everyday life.
She shared: "I saw a bus conductress on a 38 bus and I thought, 'Yes, I want my hair to be like that.' With the bangs and very harsh in the early days, of course.
"And I saw somebody who was serving behind a bakery counter in Hackney and I thought, 'Yes, that's the look I want.' [It was] slightly blousey and, you know, I thought, 'Yep, that's her.' "
However, Pam - who is among the show's longest-serving cast members - doubted whether either the bus conductor or the baker were ever aware of their influence on the iconic TV character, although they might now.
Speaking on 'Loose Women', she said: "I based her look on those two, physically. Whether they will be able to identify themselves ... God lord, I shall get some post!"
Pam also revealed that many of the pairs of garish earrings she wore as Pat were often gifts sent to her by 'EastEnders' fans.
She revealed: "All the time people would send in earrings. They would say, 'I found these in Walthamstow market.' It was wonderful and I'd wear them, because that's what they wanted, really.
"I knew that somebody wanted to see the earrings they'd sent on my ears."

Jon Culshaw to star in puppet sketch show Newzoids

Jon Culshaw is to star in a new topical puppet sketch show.
The 46-year-old impressionist - who is best known for his starring role in BBC Two comedy 'Dead Ringers' - will play a leading role in new ITV programme 'Newzoids', which promises to tackle the week's news events using "state of the art animation".
Elaine Bedell, the director of entertainment and comedy for the broadcaster, explained: "ITV has a rich history of playing popular satirical comedy in peak time on its main channel, and it seemed a good time to revive it this year.
"We are pleased to be adding to our growing comedy portfolio with this funny and biting look at the world of politics and celebrity."
The six-episode series - which will also star impressionist Debra Stephenson - will feature some of the world's most recognisable faces in puppet form, including Beyoncé, Harry Styles and British prime minister David Cameron, as well as Simon Cowell, And & Dec and Wayne Rooney.
An ITV teaser said the show's "groundbreaking mixture of low-tech traditional puppetry and state of the art animation puts a satirical and surreal spin on the stories and celebrities we read about every day".

Joey Essex wants to enter the Olympics after Jump win

Joey Essex wants to enter the winter Olympics following his win on 'The Jump'.
The former 'The Only Way Is Essex' star - who beat off competition from heptathlete Louise Hazel and paralympian Jon-Allan Butterworth to be crowned king of the winter sports competition - revealed he would consider entering the games next year after perfecting his ski skills on the Channel 4 show.
Apparently unaware the next winter Olympics are scheduled for 2018, Joey told RadioTimes.com: "Maybe I could enter the Olympics next year or something. I beat two athletes - buzzing!"
The 23-year-old star puts his success on the show down to his "confident" attitude and dedication to completing a task.
He said: "When I'm under pressure, I'm very confident. I don't give up and I give my all. When I'm under pressure I can do anything.
"Every time I have done sport and someone has said to me, 'Right Joey this is it', I've always taken it to that level and always somehow succeeded."
While he was thrilled with his victory, Joey was initially baffled by his cow bell trophy but has since decided to give it pride of place in his home.
He said: "I didn't even know I was getting a cowbell. I'm going to treat it as a medal. I'm going to try and hang it on my wall in my living room or something."

Paul Hollywood challenges Mary Berry to Bake Off

Paul Hollywood thinks he'd beat Mary Berry "hands down" on 'The Great British Bake Off'.
The 49-year-old star - who is a judge alongside Mary on the BBC One baking contest - claims there would be no competition if they were to go up against one another in a test of their skills in the kitchen.
He said: "I'd win hands down without a shadow of a doubt!"
The expert bread-maker suggested they could pair up with the show's hosts Sue Perkins and Mel Giedroyc for the ultimate Bake Off.
He added: "Maybe we'll do something with Sue Perkins and I working on a team and Mary and Mel Giedroyc working on a team ... I'd take up the challenge."
However, Mary, 79, is concerned her colleague wouldn't take it too well if she were to beat him and joked she'd sabotage her own victory to keep him happy.
She told The Sun newspaper: "I don't know what he'd do to me if he didn't win! I'd let him win."
Meanwhile, the pair are currently working on the Comic Relief special which features celebrities including 'Absolutely Fabulous' stars Joanna Lumley and Jennifer Saunders, Jonathan Ross and Abbey Clancy.
And the judges insist they are just as harsh with their criticism of celebrities as they are of the ordinary contestants.
Paul explained: "We both say it as it is... whether they like it or not. I don't really care. It's very funny."
