Tina O’Brien’s daughter set to follow her footsteps into acting

Tina O’Brien’s daughter is set to follow the ‘Coronation Street’ star into acting.
The 36-year-old actress – who starred as Sarah Platt in the ITV soap from 1999 to 2007, before reprising the role in 2015 – has 10-year-old daughter Scarlett with her ‘Corrie’ co-star and former partner Ryan Thomas, and has revealed she’s due to start her own acting career.
Scarlett is keen to become a singer and work in musical theatre, and currently attends the Drama MOB, which is a drama school and casting agency launched by her mum Tina and best friend Esther Morgan in 2013.
The school was set up when Tina couldn’t find anywhere suitable for Scarlett in the area, and the actress hopes her daughter will be able to launch her career soon.
Speaking to the Manchester Evening News, she said: "From the age of three she started singing so she started singing before she showed any interest in acting.
"She used to say ‘I don’t really fancy the acting but I like the singing’ and she used to sing Castle On A Cloud from Les Mis.
"A teacher sent me a video of her singing it and I thought ‘Oh my gosh she’s actually really quite good.’"
Tina – who also has son Beau, four with boyfriend Adam Croft – says she doesn’t let Scarlett watch ‘Coronation Street’ because it airs after her bedtime, but says she sometimes catches glimpses of her mother’s work.
She added: "I’ve occasionally let her watch it but I have to be careful with what she watches because she accidentally watched the live show.
"I was at an awards do and they showed a clip of a live episode that I’d done where this guy was throwing me around the room and she did not like it at all."
