Own a piece of history: The Spice Girls receive commemorative coin by The Royal Mint

The Royal Mint is marking 30 years of Girl Power with an official Spice Girls coin celebrating the release of Wannabe and the group’s debut album Spice.

The £5 collectable features a silhouette of all five members – Emma Bunton (Baby), Mel B (Scary), Geri Horner (Ginger), Melanie C (Sporty Spice) and Victoria Beckham (Posh Spice), with their real signatures, designed by artist Ffion Rees, and pays tribute to the best‑selling girl group of all time.

In a first for the Mint’s Music Legends series, fans can pick their favourite Spice Girl.

The Brilliant Uncirculated Colour Coin comes in five packaging designs — Baby, Ginger, Posh, Scary, and Sporty — each limited to 15,000 worldwide. The Mint worked with Bravado, Universal Music Group’s merchandise division, and the band to create the commemorative design.

Lucy Mackenzie, Director of Digital and Product Concept at The Royal Mint, said: “The Spice Girls didn’t just dominate pop music, they defined the 90s. Now, for the first time, fans and collectors everywhere can own a piece of that legacy. The unique packaging celebrating each Spice Girl makes it one of our most collectable Music Legends releases. Girl Power is back! We’re anticipating huge demand from devoted  fans and collectors from across the world looking to spice up their coin collection or add to their existing  collection of merchandise.”

The band said: “It’s a huge honour for us to be celebrated by The Royal Mint and follow in the footsteps of some true music icons. 2026 marks a special year for us as we celebrate the 30th anniversary of our debut single and album. We could never have imagined that we would be recognised in this way – the first female  group to be given their very own coin…what a moment for Girl Power!”

The Spice Girls join Freddie Mercury, Sir Elton John, David Bowie, George Michael, Dame Shirley Bassey and Sir Paul McCartney in the Music Legends series, which has reached collectors in more than 100 countries.

The coin goes on sale at 9am on March 3,  starting at £18.50, and is also available in Silver Proof, Gold Proof and as limited‑edition prints.
