Sue Holderness joins Still Open All Hours

Sue Holderness will star alongside Sir David Jason in ‘Still Open All Hours’ – the first time they’ve worked together since ‘Only Fools and Horses’ came to an end.
The 68-year-old actress has joined the cast of the BBC One sitcom – a spin-off of the classic ‘Open All Hours’ starring David and the late, great Ronnie Barker – and show bosses are hoping her appearance will bring more fans to the programme following her hit role as Marlene Boyce in ‘Only Fools’.
A BBC spokeswoman said: "We’re excited that Sue Holderness will be a recurring guest on the next series of ‘Still Open All Hours’.
"She will bring a huge fan base from her work as Marlene in ‘Only Fools And Horses’."
Sue and David last appeared opposite one another in the final-ever episode of ‘Only Fools and Horses’ entitled ‘Sleepless in Peckham’, which was broadcast on Christmas Day 2003, and the pair remained have friends since the show ended.
A TV source said: "Sue and David have kept in touch over the years but this is the first proper project that they have worked on together since ‘Only Fools’ ended more than 14 years ago.
"The BBC are delighted they’ve managed to convince her to come on board for ‘Still Open All Hours’."
Sue will feature in a number of ‘Still Open All Hours’ episodes, and other big names are being lined up for cameos in the new series.
The source added to The Sun’s Bizarre TV column: "She will be seen over several episodes in the series, alongside other big-name guests."
David’s Derek ‘Del Boy’ Trotter alter-ego was known for flirting with Marlene, partly to wind up her husband and his pal Boycie, who was played by John Challis.
Earlier this month, David admitted he was "thrilled" to be reprising his role as shopkeeper Granville for a fifth series of ‘Still Open All Hours’.
He said: "I’m thrilled to be bringing Granville and Arkwright’s shop back to viewers’ TV screens along with his regular customers who bring their own sense of barminess to the world of grocery."
