Sonny Jay confirmed for Dancing on Ice

Sonny Jay is the sixth contestant confirmed for next year’s ‘Dancing on Ice’.

The Capital Radio DJ is "so excited" about taking part in the ice-skating show, and he is looking forward to beginning his training on the ice next month.

Announcing the news on the Capital Radio Breakfast Show, which he hosts alongside Roman Kemp and Sian Welby, he said: "I’m going to be doing ‘Dancing on Ice’!

"I’m so excited, I don’t know how I kept it a secret."

Roman has tipped Sonny to go far in the competition, but admitted his pal might "fall over a few times" along the way.

He said: "We were talking about it … we’ve been talking about Denise van Outen and Jason Donovan. Move them aside, Sonny’s gonna win this.

"You might fall over a few times and it might hurt but I think you’re going to smash this.

"I’ve got a lot of faith in you, pal."

Sonny joked he doesn’t want to take a tumble and become an internet meme.

He replied: "I don’t want to fall over, not in front of the nation. I don’t want to be a meme the next day."

News of Sonny signing up for the series comes after Myleene Klass, Joe-Warren Plant, Faye Brookes, Denise and Jason were all confirmed.

Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby will once again return to present the show and the expert panel of Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean, John Barrowman and Ashley Banjo will all resume their roles as judges.
