Sam Mendes was ‘angry’ at Lea Seydoux jetting between films

Sam Mendes was "angry" that Lea Seydoux asked to jet between two film sets for ‘Spectre’.
The French actress played a Bond girl in the 2015 James Bond blockbuster and her film schedule overlapped with her work on ‘It’s Only the End of the World’ during the last weeks of filming, which meant that Seydoux had to frequently travel so she could make the family drama’s 12-day shoot in Montreal, Canada.
Seydoux says the movie’s director, Mendes, was not happy with the arrangements.
In an interview with Metro newspaper, she said: "It was really crazy. (The bond team were) not really (OK with this). The producer [Barbara Broccoli] was very nice – she said, ‘OK, if you really want to make this film, we’ll find a solution’. But [director] Sam Mendes was not happy at all! He was so angry. He was like, ‘You cannot do two films at the same time. James Bond is big.’ But I really wanted to do it."
However, the 31-year-old beauty’s determination paid off as ‘It’s Only the End of the World’ won the Grand Jury prize at Cannes Film Festival and enabled her to star opposite Vincent Cassel and Marion Cotillard.
The film, which opens in cinemas on Friday (24.02.17), is based on the story of a terminally ill writer named Louis who returns home after 12 years.
Speaking about her upcoming role, playing Louis’ younger sister Suzanne, she said: "It’s a film that everybody can relate to. It’s a normal family. The film came out in France and I got many, many messages…audiences were extremely touched by this film. It was the first time I had a lot of messages like this. I realised it was the first time I played a normal girl. People were very moved by her."
Seydoux, who is dating Andre Meyer, gave birth to their first child, son George, back in January and after a year-and-a-half of not working, and she’s unsure how motherhood will affect her career.
She added: "I will want to stay with my little baby. It’s a new chapter."
