Duchess Catherine sparks baby girl rumour with pink paint

Britain's Duchess Catherine has sparked rumours she's having a girl after being sent pink paint.
The duchess and her husband, Prince William, have kept the gender of their unborn child a closely guarded secret, but speculation the tot could be a girl has been initiated after three pots of pink paint were sent to Amner Hall on the Queen's Sandringham Estate in Norfolk, where the couple live.
According to the Daily Mail newspaper, three shades of pink were ferried to their home by Oxford-based interior design company Annie Sloan, with many speculating the feminine colour could be used to paint the walls of the baby's nursery.
Kensington Palace declined to comment on the matter, while Annie Sloan said they could not "confirm or deny" they had supplied paints to the couple.
Last month, the 33-year-old beauty revealed the child - which will be a younger sibling to 20-month-old Prince George - is expected to be born at the "mid-to-end of April".
According to British bookmaker William Hill, the chances of the unborn child being a girl stand at 8/11, while there are even odds on it being a boy.
Many people speculating over the baby's gender have also pointed out the duchess has been indulging in sugary treats, which is a traditional sign the child is a girl, while there have also been unconfirmed reports she has been shopping for clothes for a baby girl.

Duke of York sex allegations thrown out of court

Britain's Duke of York's sex abuse allegations have been thrown out of court.
District Judge Kenneth Marra has ordered for the "lurid" allegations against Prince Andrew - suggesting he had forced a 17-year-old girl to have sex with him - to be thrown out of court and struck from the record, following months of uncertainty about the case.
Virginia Roberts, now 31, made the claims earlier this year as she attempted to join a lawsuit against the duke's friend, convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, who she claims made her engage in the acts with Prince Andrew back in 2001.
In an order issued at the US district court in southern Florida yesterday, the judge wrote: "The factual details regarding with whom and where the Jane Does engaged in sexual activities are immaterial and impertinent to this central claim.
"These unnecessary details shall be stricken."
As well as the allegations against the 55-year-old royal, Virginia Roberts' claims against Harvard law professor Alan Dershowitz were also struck from the case.
While disgraced financier, Jeffrey, still faces abuse claims from two women, the ruling puts an end to the case against Andrew made by Virginia, and another woman who is known as Jane Doe 4.
Buckingham Palace previously said the allegations were "categorically untrue".

Duke of Kent discharged from hospital

Britain's Duke of Kent has been discharged from hospital.
The royal was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary on Monday (06.04.15) after sustaining a hip injury but was spotted leaving the medical facility on Tuesday evening (07.04.15) with a walking stick after spending a night under observation.
Buckingham Palace confirmed His Royal Highness Prince Edward's injury, saying: "The Duke of Kent was admitted on Monday to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, where he was successfully treated for a dislocated hip."
The 79-year-old duke suffered the injury during an Easter stay at his cousin, Queen Elizabeth II's, Balmoral estate in Scotland.
The Palace has not yet commented on his condition, but it seems likely his planned royal engagements including an evening reception at St James's Palace in London next Monday (13.04.15) will go ahead as planned.
Back in 2013, the prince - who is the son of Prince George, who died when Edward was just six - suffered a "mild stroke" but returned to his busy schedule of engagements just a few weeks later.
The duke - who has three children; George, Earl of St Andrews, 52, Lady Helen Taylor, 50, and Lord Nicholas Windsor, 44 - lives with his wife, Katharine Duchess of Kent, at Wren House in Kensington Palace, London.

Prince William and Duchess Catherine given giant teddy bears

Britain's Prince William and Duchess Catherine have been given two 10 ft tall teddy bears.
The royal couple have been gifted the two toys to celebrate the imminent birth of their second child, due later this month, with the cuddly creations spotted arriving at Buckingham Palace.
The giant bears were created by Britain's biggest bookmaker, William Hill, who chose to make a male teddy and a female teddy, each bearing the odds on whether the new arrival would be a boy (evens) or a girl (8/11).
As well as the gender, the bookmaker is taking bets on the name, which will be chosen for the younger sibling to Prince George, with odds of 2/1 for it being called Alice, and 14/1 for James.
Spokesperson for the company, Rupert Adams, said: "We wanted to do something spectacular to show our excitement for the latest addition to the royal family. Royal baby fever has gripped the nation and punters are buzzing to find out whether it is a boy or a girl. The smart money is on a baby girl by the name of Alice born on the same day as her great-grandmother Queen Elizabeth - April 21st."
Meanwhile, the least likely names for the baby have also been revealed, with Kanye and Taylor each having odds of 500/1.
The spokesperson added: "It is well documented that the William and Kate love their pop music so it's not beyond the realms of possibility that they may choose a celebrity style name for the forthcoming baby. For those that fancy a longshot, Kanye and Taylor are the names that will give the best return."

Britain’s Prince Harry loves having red hair

Britain's Prince Harry loves having red hair.
The prince - who is currently taking part in a month-long mission in Australia before he retires from the army in June - met with young people in Canberra as part of one of his royal engagements, and made the comment while talking to one young fan who was also ginger-haired.
Ethan Toscan, 12, made a sign stating, "Red Heads RULE!" to catch the attention of the 30-year-old royal, to which he responded positively by saying he would never want to have hair of another colour.
According to the boy, Harry insisted being a redhead "has to be the number one thing one person can ever be".
During the short chat, Ethan said the prince - who is currently believed to be single after splitting from his long-term girlfriend Cressida Bonas last year - also praised him for his banner and high-five'd him for his efforts.
He added: "He said that I was fabulous in making the sign and it's awesome to be a redhead.
"I'm over the moon - it's just wow! I got to shake his hand!"

Britain’s Prince Harry hates selfies

Britain's Prince Harry hates selfies.
The 30-year-old royal admitted his hatred for the photographs while talking to a female teenage fan during an engagement in Canberra, where he refused to take part in a snap.
When asked for a photo, he responded: "No, I hate selfies."
The son of Prince Charles, and younger brother of Prince William Duke of Cambridge, went on to urge the gathered crowd of youngsters to take "normal" photos instead, describing the trend of taking photographs of yourself as "bad".
He added: "Seriously! You need to get out of it. I know you're young but selfies are bad.
"Just take a normal photograph."
Lauren Rosewarne, a social media expert at the University of Melbourne believes he was hoping to enlighten young people with the comments by highlighting how such photos will never disappear once uploaded to the internet.
She added: "Young people need to be reminded as many times as possible that what you put online stays online, even if you delete it.
"He knows probably better than anyone... how these images will never go away."
The prince is in the country for a month-long secondment after which he will retire from the army, having previously spent two tours with the British Army flying helicopters in Afghanistan.

Duchess Camilla should be Queen according to half of Brits

Almost half of British people believe Duchess Camilla should become Queen.
A new opinion poll conducted by YouGov has revealed 49 per cent of Brits would like to see the Duchess of Cornwall become Queen Consort, the traditional title of the wife of a reigning monarch, when her husband, Prince Charles, assumes the throne.
The survey results - released just days before the couple's tenth wedding anniversary - show how the public perception of the 67-year-old royal has changed in the past decade, with only seven percent of people believing she should assume the title when surveyed ten years ago.
However, opposition remains due to the public memory of Charles' first wife, Princess Diana, who divorced the prince in 1996 before being killed in a car accident the following year.
The survey of 1,830 adults in Britain, conducted in March, found that one in four women and three in ten men believe Camilla should be given a lesser title out of "sensitivity" to the late princess.
Nevertheless, aides continue to insist the duchess has no intentions of taking the title of Queen Consort when her husband succeeds Queen Elizabeth II, explaining she intends to be known as the Princess Consort.

Hunting memorabilia removed from Sandringham

Hunting memorabilia has been removed from the royal Sandringham estate.
More than 60 items including ivory and rhino horns have been cleared from the royal trophy room at the Norfolk estate and put into storage, in an attempt to distance the royal family from a bygone era of animal cruelty.
Explaining the decision in a message to visitors as the estate opened again following the winter break on Saturday (04.04.15), the museum said: "Thankfully, due to the work of organisations like the World Wide Fund for Nature, whose President was HRH Prince Philip until 1996, this destructive era is drawing to a close - the camera having replaced the gun in recording the sightings of these magnificent animals."
In total, 62 items including an Indian tiger, stuffed rhino heads, and a leopard have been removed, with the blood-red walls also painted white in an attempt to forget the past.
The decision comes four months after questions were raised about the legality of five of the items in the exhibit, although a source said those responsible for the collection insist no laws have been broken.
Speaking about the decision, a spokesperson for Buckingham Palace told the Daily Mail newspaper they had decided to make the changes as part of an "ongoing process" of improving the exhibits.
He said: "Changes were made to the Sandringham museum during the winter closure as part of an ongoing process of updating and refreshing the displays."
