Rosamund Pike set to star in Entebbe

Rosamund Pike is set to star in hostage drama ‘Entebbe’.
The 37-year-old British actress is in talks to join the cast of Jose Padilha’s new movie which is based on the real life 1976 plane hijacking incident during which four hijackers – two Palestinian and two German – took control of an aircraft and forced it to land in Entebbe, Uganda, and then demanded the release of dozens of Palestinian and pro-Palestine prisoners.
The movie will follow the drama that unfolds as the then-Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin and future PM Shimon Peres decide whether or not to concede to the hijackers’ demands in order to protect the Israeli hostages on the plane and the French government’s efforts to protect the French crew and pilot who refused to leave when they could with the other hostages from France.
As well as Pike, Daniel Bruhl and Vincent Cassel are also in discussions to appear in the film which is being written by Greg Burke, whose previous work includes Yann Demange’s drama about the Northern Ireland troubles ”71′.
Padilha’s previous work includes the acclaimed Netflix Pablo Escobar drama ‘Narcos’, crime film ‘Elite Squad’ and the documentary ‘Bus 174’ about an incident in Brazil during which an impoverished young man took hostages on a bus for four hours.

It is not the first time the Entebbe hijacking story has been told on screen.
In 1976, Peter Finch and Charles Bronson starred in the 1976 NBC TV movie ‘Raid On Entebbe’.
