Lindsay Lohan weeps over Oprah praise

Lindsay Lohan wept as Oprah Winfrey praised her on David Letterman's show last night (09.04.14).
The 'Mean Girls' actress - whose post-rehab attempts to get her career back on track are being chronicled in documentary series 'Lindsay' on the media mogul's OWN network - initially planned to prank call her mentor, but the retiring talk show host quickly blew his own cover and had a serious chat about his famous guest instead.
Lindsay asked the audience: "I think maybe I should just call her right now. Should we call Oprah?
"I think so. Do you have a phone? Have we got a phone?"
Letterman, 66, took the phone and in a feminine voice said: "Yes, can I speak to Oprah Winfrey please? Hi, this is, uh, Lindsay Lohan's secretary."
He quickly owned up to his real identity when Oprah asked who was on the line, prompting her to reply: "Very good, Dave! The David Letterman who's retiring?!"
Getting the conversation back on a serious track, the talk show host asked: "How's our friend Lindsay doing?"
Oprah then spoke of her pride in the 27-year-old star's attempts to turn her life around.
She replied: "I think she's doing OK ... What do you think? ... I think she's doing really OK. I think to have cameras following you around for every phase of your life and you're trying to pull your life together, I think that's a really difficult thing. We're really pleased that she's making some progress."
Lindsay - who has been in rehab six times - then wiped away tears.

Robin Thicke ‘doing great’

Robin Thicke is "doing great" in the wake of his marriage split.
The 'Blurred Lines' hitmaker and wife Paula Patton recently separated after nine years of marriage, and his dad Alan Thicke says his famous son is channeling his heartbreak into new music.
Speaking to 'Entertainment Tonight Canada', Robin said: "They're doing great and Robin is pouring himself into the musical artistry.
"There will be a fabulous album coming out within months... he's almost finished it."
It has been speculated that Paula is willing to give Robin - with who she has three-year-old son Julian - another chance if he "proves" himself to be a good husband and father, but 'Growing Pains' actor Alan is unsure what the future holds for the pair.
Asked if he thinks they will reunite, he replied: "They're grown ups. I wouldn't bet on them one way or another."
It was recently claimed that Alan - who is married to third wife Tanya Callau - has been giving his son marriage advice and urging him not to make the same mistakes he did.
A source said: "Robin's convinced that his smooth-talking dad - despite his own chequered romantic history - could help him win back his wife."
Alan is said to have a close bond with Paula, who has three-year-old son Julian with Robin, and has been trying to talk her around.
The source added: "Paula adores Alan and he adores her. He admitted he made a mess of his own love life and caused pain for his family with divorces.
"But he told Paula he believes she and Robin have the strength to get through this and save their union."

Dylan Penn laughs at acting career

Dylan Penn can't stop laughing at the thought of herself being an actress.
The 22-year-old model - whose parents are actors Sean Penn and Robin Wright - is about to begin filming 'Condemned' but won't be too upset if her new career doesn't work out.
She said: "I'm trying out this whole acting thing...it's hard to say for me because I've rejected it my whole life until now. I literally can't say it without laughing. My truest passion is writing so I continue to do that on my own while seeing what all the buzz is about being in front of the camera."
Dylan is excited about working on the horror movie and thinks it sounds more like fun than work.
Speaking to the new issue of Treats! magazine, she said: ""I start my first movie at the end of the month with Eli Morgan Gesner who I cannot wait to work with.
"I swore I would never do a horror film but when I read the script and met him I couldn't resist, it just seemed like it would be so much fun to make and I really wanted my first experience to be just that... plus, three weeks in New York...in the spring...and getting paid for it?! F**k yes!"
Despite her famous parents, Dylan - who is rumoured to be dating Robert Pattinson - and her younger brother Hopper, 20, were raised in Ross, a small town outside San Francisco and she is grateful to have had as normal an upbringing as possible.
She said: "Let's just say thank god I didn't grow up in LA. No, in all seriousness though, I was raised outside of San Francisco in Marin County in a small, suburban town called Ross, and I couldn't have chosen a better, more beautiful place to grow up.
"I don't deny that I had a very privileged upbringing but my parents and that town maintained a sense of normalcy that I think many people find hard to achieve and I am so grateful for that."

Emma Stone surprised by Mel C live on air

Emma Stone was left shaking after being surprised by Mel C during a live radio interview.
The 'Amazing Spider Man 2' actress - who was left in tears during an Australian interview last month when she learned she had missed the chance to meet Mel B - is a huge Spice Girls fan so was delighted when the singer called into Capital FM on video chat on Tuesday (08.04.14), with an invitation to try on some of the group's original tour outfits.
Mel C - also known as Sporty Spice - said: "Firstly I have to apologise for the Spice Girls hijacking all of your promo.
"I have a message for you. I spoke to Emma [Bunton] earlier and she said 'Hi' and because she's your favourite she still has all of her baby doll dresses if you ever want to pop round and try them on."
Emma - who had also been made to sing a rendition of Spice Girl track 'Stop' - has openly expressed her love for the popular nineties girl band and couldn't contain her excitement upon hearing her idol's offer.
She gushed: "I am so happy about it you have no idea. I wouldn't want to be hijacked by anyone else. This is so great. I would love to [come round]. I'm so happy to meet you, thanks for calling. That was the coolest ever. Oh my God I'm shaking. Wow! That was incredible."
Emma was left devastated last month after learning she had missed the chance to meet Mel B, but was consoled by a video message from the star.
When 2Day FM's Merrick Watts and Sophie Monk told Emma their occasional co-host couldn't be there for the interview, the actress' eyes filled with tears and her voice cracked as she said: "Wait, Mel B, could have been here? I'm gonna cry."
The 25-year-old star was then stunned as a video of Mel appeared, with her saying, "Hi Emma".
The actress sobbed and exclaimed: "Oh my god, is Mel B talking to me? Oh my god, I'm so excited. I'm legitimately crying. I'm the biggest Spice Girls fan ever."

Prince William and Duchess Catherine honour war dead

Britain's Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have paid their respects to New Zealand's war dead.
The royal couple laid a wreath in a service at Blenheim's war memorial before meeting with some of the 5,000 people who had turned out to welcome Prince William and Duchess Catherine to the country's South Island.
Though the pair were not joined by their son Prince George, eight months, they were happy to chat to well-wishers about their little boy, with William joking he hoped the baby's teething wasn't causing problems at their temporary home of Government House in Wellington.
Annette Michna-Konigstorfer said: "I asked him how his kid was and he said he hopes he's not chewing everything at Government House. William was fantastic and wonderful - I love all the Royal Family."
Jan Cross, 55, who emigrated to New Zealand from Britain seven years ago, was jokingly asked by the prince if she wanted to babysit the little boy when she enquired whether he had enjoyed his first official engagement yesterday (09.04.14), in which he joined a number of local babies for a coffee morning.
Jan said: "I said 'is George OK?' and William said 'yes' and I asked if he enjoyed himself at Plunket and he said he had.
"Then he said 'you can do some babysitting for us if you like'. I would love to help out with George for the day."
William and Catherine were given a number of gifts by the crowd, including a teddy bear, a friendship bracelet from a little boy - which the prince immediately put on - and a pair of brown booties for their son.
Zella Vile, who knitted the booties, said: "It took me just a day to make them, it's my hobby. I just thought George is lovely and I'll make something for him."
William thanked her and said: "These will fit him quite well."

James Argent set for Strictly

James 'Arg' Argent is in the running for the new series of 'Strictly Come Dancing'.
The 'Only Way is Essex' star has long been a fan of the BBC ballroom contest and his dream of being a contestant could come true this year as he says he is "definitely" being considered by producers.
He said: "I want to do Strictly this year and I'm definitely in their thoughts.
And Arg thinks he would have a good chance of winning - and hopes the show could take him further towards his ambition of starring in a West End show.
He added to the Daily Star newspaper: "I can dance. I have got rhythm. I would shock people with my moves.
"I have always dreamed of being in the West End and so this show suits me down to the ground."
Insiders think 'Strictly' would be perfect for Arg as he could easily juggle 'TOWIE' filming in the week with his rehearsals and Saturday night performances on the celebrity dance contest.
However, the reality TV star is also open to following in the footsteps of his former co-stars Joey Essex and Mark Wright and taking part in 'I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!'.
He added: "I could do the jungle. I've had good practice.
"I once ate some dodgy jellied eels."
