Mumford and Sons have started recording their third album.
The folk rock group have begun work on a handful of new songs at Eastcote Studios in Kensal Town, west London, the same studio where they recorded their debut album 'Sigh No More', which was released in 2009 and sold over a million copies in the UK.
The four-piece group - who achieved worldwide success with their second LP 'Babel' - intend to release the record in early 2015.
Speaking to The Sun newspaper, a source said: "It's still very early days because they have been enjoying their down time.
"But very early work and sessions have begun quietly on album number three. They haven't announced anything officially because they don't want to be under lots of pressure.
"At this point, it's still more likely the album will be released at some point next year - unless things move very quickly."
News of the recording sessions comes less than a year after the group announced their intention to take a break from their intense touring schedule.
However, following the band's surprise appearance at Glastonbury - where they joined Haim on stage - they decided to get back in the studio.

Cheryl Cole has married her boyfriend of three months.
The 'Crazy Stupid Love' singer was reported to have tied the knot to her French boyfriend Jean-Bernard Fernandez-Versini in a secret ceremony this weekend and she's now taken to her Instagram account to confirm they married a week ago (07.07.14).
Alongside a photograph of her wearing a sparkling engagement ring and wedding band, she wrote: "I usually do not discuss my personal life but to stop the speculation I want to share my happy news... Jean-Bernard and I married on 7/7/14.. We are very happy and excited to move forward with our lives together.. (sic)."
The pair began dating just three months ago and went public with their relationship at the Cannes Film Festival in May before moving in together at Cheryl's luxury mansion in the UK last month.
The 31-year-old star - who was previously married to former England soccer star Ashley Cole before dating backing dancers Derek Hough and Tre Holloway - and Jean-Bernard are reported to have got married on a beach on the island of Mustique, in the West Indies.
A source told The Sun newspaper that Cheryl exchanged vows with the restaurateur in front of just four guests, including her mother Joan Callaghan.

Rihanna flashed her bra at the World Cup Final on Sunday night (13.07.14) after Germany scored the winning goal.
The 'Rude Boy' singer attended the match at the Maracana stadium in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and couldn't contain her excitement when Mario Gotze scored in extra-time to beat Argentina and earn Germany their fourth success in the finals.
Rihanna showed her support for the Germans throughout the game on her Twitter account and she even changed her profile pic to a sexy photo of her kneeling in a German flag-printed swimsuit in the grounds of a soccer stadium.
She captioned the picture: "For my German boys."
She also praised 24-year-old German forward Thomas Mueller and his teammate Mario for their performances.
She tweeted: "Mueller is always in the right position!
"Super mario baby [sic]"
Rihanna - who attended the final with supermodel Adriana Lima -also uploaded a selfie of her holding the official Budweiser man of the match award, which was later handed to 22-year-old Mario for his winning goal, captioning the image "man of the match goes to..."
The 26-year-old Bajan beauty was invited to party with the Germany team after the game and she got to meet "the shooter aka my hitta" Mario, got a double kiss from Bastian Schweinsteiger and Lukas Podolski and was allowed to hold the famous gold trophy by Miroslav Klose.

Britain's Prince Harry is reportedly worried about attending James Blunt's wedding.
The flame-haired royal is on the guest list for the 'You're Beautiful' hitmaker's upcoming nuptials to Sofia Wellesley - who is the granddaughter of the Duke of Wellington - in Ibiza, Spain later this year but he's said to be concerned that attending the celebrations could get him in trouble.
Harry, 29 - who split from his long-term girlfriend Cressida Bonas earlier this year - was at the centre of controversy in 2012 after naked pictures of him at a party in Las Vegas emerged, and he's said to be worried that something similar could happen again.
A source told The Sun newspaper: "Harry is desperate to go because he loves James. Completely wild parties are being arranged.
"But after what happened with Harry and the naked pictures in Las Vegas there is a lot of concern."
James is said to have organised a week-long "reception" of star-studded parties at villas and clubs on the party island of Ibiza - with guests including Elton John, Prince William's good friend Guy Pelly and William and Harry's cousins Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice - and he's reportedly told Harry that he completely understands his predicament and has left him a place for a last-minute decision.

Khloe Kardashian has admitted Lamar Odom cheated on her.
The 'Keeping Up with the Kardashians' star filed for divorce from the basketball player last December amid allegations he had been unfaithful, and she has now confirmed he was sleeping with someone else during their four-year marriage.
She told her sister Kourtney Kardashian: "Do you know the interviews he's doing? Saying that being married to me were the best years of his life and that he is now wearing his ring.
"F**k your ring. You were wearing it when you were f**king someone too."
The 30-year-old beauty - who is now in a relationship with rapper French Montana - also admitted she regularly lied to her family about Lamar's behaviour, and even covered for him on his birthday.
Speaking on an episode of 'Keeping Up with the Kardashians' which aired in the US last night (13.07.14), she said: "The way I was living is not a way to live!

Kylie Minogue found being "selfish" helped her battle breast cancer.
The 46-year-old singer admits she is used to putting other people first, but when diagnosed with the disease in 2005, she took advice from friends who told her to focus only on herself and allow others to help her.
Asked on Australian TV show '60 Minutes' by Karl Stefanovic how she got through her ordeal, she joked: "Oh boy, how did I do that!"
She added: "Someone had said to me at the time, 'You need to be a little bit selfish.'
"It's not in my nature to be selfish but now is the time to do that let people take care of you. And...that's what I did."
The 'Wow' hitmaker lost her hair during treatment and said it felt like a "miracle" when it started growing back as it was the first sign she was on the road to recovery.
She said: "It is years until you really get the all clear and by the time my hair started growing back it was very exciting, it was like a miracle."
Looking back on her ordeal, Kylie admitted she felt a "mixture" of emotions.
Asked what the time in her life had taught her, she said: "Many things. I know I have strength but when you're fighting something where there is a lot of unknown it's a mixture, a mixture of emotions and memories."

Katherine Heigl is "grateful" for her movie career.
The 35-year-old star - who is making her TV comeback in new show 'State of Affairs' later this year - recently admitted she nearly quit acting because she didn't feel "challenged" by her string of romantic comedy roles, such as '27 Dresses', but the actress now insists she is thankful for all her roles and watches her films when they are on TV.
Speaking at a Television Critics Association event in Beverly Hills yesterday (13.07.14), she explained: "I was just kind of making choices that were certainly unbelievably fun - I had a really good time and I still love those movies. I'll still watch them. I know that sounds vain, but every once in a while they'll come on TV and I'm just grateful that I was there, that I got to be a part of it."
While she is grateful for her success, the former 'Grey's Anatomy' star admits she worried fans were tired of seeing her playing unlucky-in-love leading ladies.
Katherine added: "But then it starts to wear you down a little bit and it's important that you're making creative choices that support your creativity and challenge you as artist, because otherwise your audience gets bored by you!"
The blonde beauty - who is married to Josh Kelley, with whom she has adopted daughters Naleigh, four, and two-year-old Adalaide - also spoke of her recent break from acting to spend more time with her family.

Hetti Bywater is to appear in 'Death in Paradise'.
The former 'EastEnders' actress - who was killed off in the BBC One soap earlier this year - could be set for another gruesome murder scene in the channel's popular crime comedy-drama.
A source told The Sun newspaper: "Hetti is guest starring in a murder mystery show, most of our guest stars die. Or are murderers!
"We're not saying which one she'll be, viewers will just have to wait to find out."
BBC bosses are said to have lined up a number of guest stars for the upcoming fourth series of the drama, which stars former 'My Family' funny-man Kris Marshall as clumsy but brilliant Detective Inspector Humphrey Goodman.
Natalie Gumede - who played the abusive Kirsty Soames in 'Coronation Street' - will also appear along with former 'Downton Abbey' housemaid Amy Nuttall, Outnumbered's Tyger Drew-Honey, 'Broadchurch' star Will Mellor and The Fast Show's Simon Day.
The new series of 'Death in Paradise' will see Humphrey struggle to contain his feelings for Detective Superintendent Camille Bordey (Sara Martins), while Officer Dwayne Myers (Danny John-Jules) will attempt to run the police station by himself following the departure of Sergeant Fidel Best (Gary Carr).
The drama - which is filmed in the Caribbean islands of Guadeloupe but is set on the fictional island of Saint Marie - will also welcome French actress Josephine Jobert as Sergeant Florence Cassell in the new series, which will air in early 2015.

Cher Lloyd says she was shocked by her success in the US.
The 'Want U Back' hitmaker has become a big star both in the States and in her homeland of the UK, and she never expected to have spent more than a fortnight there when she first visited to promote her music.
She told The Sun on Sunday newspaper's Fabulous magazine: "I don't quite know how it all kicked off in America. That was never my plan.
"My thing was always to make it over here [in the UK] because I love my country. Being successful here is what counts for me.
"I went to America with one suitcase, planning to stay for two weeks, and then two years later I was still there!"
Now focusing on her homeland again, Cher was quick to point out she wants to show people in the UK exactly what she can do.
She explained: "My big ambition now is just to come home and let people see who I am, how I've changed and how I've grown up.
"I really want to be a success here. This is where I come from and who I am. I really want to make it work."

Jake Bugg is considering making a country music album.
The 'Lightening Bolt' hitmaker has revealed that after seeing Dolly Parton perform at Glastonbury festival in Somerset, South West England last month - where he also played his own set - he's thinking about moving to the United States to work on some new material.
He explained: "I'm a fan of Dolly's beautiful voice and great songs. She's a woman with great stories, so Dolly is pretty cool.
"I've recently been coming up with new ideas for songs and have come up with country ideas.
"Next year I'd like to have some time off to travel around the southern states, Nashville and Memphis, and hang out, get inspired, see what happens.
"Maybe I'll make a country album, which would be pretty sweet."
The 20-year-old star - who grew up in Nottingham in the East Midlands of England - has confessed to having a great reaction from audiences in the United States already.
He told the Daily Star newspaper: "They've all been cool. They just want to hear tunes and are appreciative of music even though they're spoilt for it."
Meanwhile, Jake - who played at T in the Park festival in Scotland this weekend - is looking forward to performing more gigs this summer.
He added: "I'm high up on the bill at festivals this year so I've added one or two things, stepped it up a level.
"At least I've got more songs to sing along with."

Kate Humble has urged everyone to try stripping off naked in the outdoors.
The 'Lambing Live' presenter revealed getting naked whilst holidaying in the Wakhi region of Afghanistan made her feel liberated and "at one with nature".
She exclusively told BANG Showbiz: "I can't explain it, but I do urge you to give it a go.
"There are certain places in the world that are just very beautiful and there's something celebratory and primeval about just taking off all your clothes and having a dance."
Kate - who is busy living with nomads in Mongolia for a new series - said the most important thing for her is that she's remembered as a decent human being.
And despite getting attention from "naturalists" claiming she's one of them, she added it's just something she likes to do on her own.
She said: "I get nice tweets from naturalists saying 'Hooray, you're one of us', but I'm really not.
"It's just one of those things that I like to do when I'm on my own. All I would say is try it - just not in the middle of Oxford Street!"

'The Inbetweeners' cast become closer to their characters when they're all together.
The four main stars of the popular comedy - James Buckley, Simon Bird, Joe Thomas and Blake Harrison - may be grown up with their own families and relationships, but Emily Berrington has had a chance to work with them on their upcoming movie and she revealed not everything is so different.
She said: "It's odd because individually all four Inbetweeners are totally different from their characters. They all have wives or long-term girlfriends and there were even baby Inbetweenies on location with us.
"But when they are together as a group filming they are amazingly similar - James Buckley, for example, thinks there is nothing funnier than breaking wind and Joe Thomas is famous for eating disgusting things.
"One day on set I would a dead cockroach on the floor and I said to Simon Bird, 'Yuk, look at that', and he went, 'I reckon we can get Joe to eat it.' "
Despite a typically boyish atmosphere on set, Emily explained the show's huge female fanbase will love the highly-anticipated second movie.
She told the Mail on Sunday newspaper's You magazine: "Being a teenage girl is a traumatic, confusing, oily-skinned experience and it's great to see that from the perspective of a teenage boy you were probably a goddess whose whole life seemed sorted.
"I think that's what women like about 'The Inbetweeners!' "
