Liza Minnelli resting after surgery

Liza Minnelli is resting comfortably following surgery on her back.
The 68-year-old singer-and-actress is recovering in hospital in California from an operation she underwent after breaking her lower spine in a fall at home and has thanked fans around the world for their wellwishes.
She said in a statement: "I am overwhelmed with the amount of love and caring that has been sent my way from all over the world."
The 'Cabaret' star - who missed her good friend Joan Rivers' funeral earlier this month because of her injury - is expected to make a full recovery.
Liza previously explained she had sustained the injury after one of her dogs jumped up at her, causing her to tumble.
She said:"I was picking up my dogs - and they jumped. And I got twisted and fell. I thought it's nothing. But it wasn't nothing. It became something. The operation's next week.
"After an X-ray, seems I busted it and have to have it fused.
"I broke my lower back. Remember a few years ago I was in a wheelchair because I had trouble with my spine? They operated on it then. Well, now, again. They'll have to fuse it."

Mick Jagger becomes friends with Harry Styles

Sir Mick Jagger has become friends with Harry Styles.
The Rolling Stones rocker has "taken a shine" to the One Direction heartthrob after inviting him to join him at a party for the band during their recent tour.
It is reported that Mick, 71, struck up a close friendship with the 'Kiss You' singer - who had already made it known that he is a huge fan of the star - following the bash, and describes him and his band mates, Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne and Niall Horan as "lovely young lads".
A source told The Sun newspaper: "Harry made it clear he was a huge fan of Mick but never expected he'd take any notice. But people kept telling Mick how much Harry looked like a younger version of him so he started to investigate One Direction.
"Mick's not a massive fan of their music because he's a rocker to the core, but he thinks they're lovely young lads and took a shine to Harry.
"He invited him to a special party during the Stones' tour and they instantly hit it off."
Harry is said to be thrilled with the new friendship and regularly catches up with Mick on the phone.
The source added: "They swapped numbers and now regularly phone each other just to chat. Harry can't believe it.
"It's very much a friendship. Mick isn't trying to be a mentor or anything like that, which is why Harry likes him so much."

Katie Price quit as Kerry Katona’s bridesmaid

Katie Price quit as Kerry Katona's bridesmaid because her dress was too small.
The mother-of-five - who gave birth to her latest child, Bunny, six weeks ago - reportedly refused to wear her bridesmaid gown at the reality TV star's nuptials to George Kay because it didn't fit, so she changed into a black and white playsuit and attended the wedding as a guest.
A source said: "Katie made it clear she was unhappy at having to wear the playsuit.
"She had a face on her like a bulldog chewing a wasp.
"She sat through the ceremony in silence and left straight after the meal.
"But there were no major dramas. Kerry and George were in bed by 11pm and weren't even drunk."
While Katie still went to the wedding, Kerry - who met the former glamour model when they both starred on the third series of reality TV show 'I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!' in 2004 - was said to be "disappointed" that the model-turned-businesswoman wasn't her bridesmaid.
The source added to The Sun newspaper: "Katie was not even prepared to consider wearing a dress that didn't fit her properly.
"As soon as she found out, she pulled out of her official role altogether.
"Kerry was disappointed, but wasn't going to let it ruin her day."
Instead of Katie, Kerry's Atomic Kitten bandmate Liz McClarnon, Mel B's sister Danielle and Kerry's school friend Karen Belton all acted as her bridesmaids for her nuptials at Totworth Court Hotel, near Bristol, south west England, on Sunday (14.09.14).
The star was walked down the aisle by her son Max, six, and was joined by her daughters Molly, 13, Lily-Sue, 11, and Heidi, seven, from her two previous marriages, as well as the couple's five-month-old daughter Dylan-Jorge.

Matt Damon set to return as Jason Bourne

Matt Damon is being lined up to reprise the role of Jason Bourne.
Deadline reports that the 43-year-old actor and director Paul Greengrass have entered into discussions with Universal Pictures to reunite for their third movie together in the Bourne franchise.
It's been reported that the film studio intends to move back its next Bourne spinoff sequel, which is set to star Jeremy Renner.
This means that Damon's comeback as the character of Jason Bourne will be released on July 15, 2016, which is a date already assigned to an as-yet-untitled Bourne movie.
As well as releasing a film starring Damon, it's thought that Universal want to release Renner's film in the future and continue the series.
So far, however, Universal has refused to officially comment on the speculation.
Meanwhile, it was reported in June that Damon had agreed a deal that would see him reprise the role of Jason Bourne.
Speaking earlier this year, the actor explained: "I've always been open to it if Paul Greengrass is the director."
Greengrass directed his third of the Bourne films, 'The Bourne Ultimatum', in 2007.

Avatar sequels could feature cutting-edge 3D technology

The 'Avatar' sequels could use Douglas Trumbull's new system for 4K 3D at 120 frames per second.
Trumbull has confirmed the news in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, in which he revealed that James Cameron - who wrote and directed the original film in 2009 - is intrigued by cutting-edge technology.
He said: "I know that Cameron admired Showscan [Trumbull's earlier invention of a large-format high-frame rate projection system] and that he is a huge advocate of high frame rates [HFRs]."
He added: "The use of HFRs for 'Avatar' would be very appropriate and very successful.
"I don't know if Cameron is interested [in using MAGI for the Avatar sequels]. He's in seclusion writing the screenplay for Avatar. I am talking to [series producer] Jon Landau, and we plan to have a screening [of UFOTOG] soon."
What's more, Trumball said he's also in talks with other directors about MAGI.
He explained: "It delivers extreme fluidity of motion and amazing clarity with no strobing, no double flickering and a viewing experience that far exceeds conventional movie quality."
The first of the 'Avatar' sequels is expected to hit cinemas by Christmas 2016.

Daniel Radcliffe, Ben Kingsley and Brie Larson join ‘Brooklyn Bridge’ cast

Ben Kingsley and Brie Larson have joined the cast of 'Brooklyn Bridge'.
Douglas McGrath has written and will direct the historical drama which has been inspired by true events during the construction of the Brooklyn Bridge in the 19th century.
'Twilight' star Daniel Radcliffe has been confirmed as the lead character, Washington Roebling, who was an inexperienced civil engineer challenged with the immense task of overseeing the bridge's construction.
The announcement of Kingsley and Larson's castings comes months after speculation that Radcliffe would be appearing as the protagonist first began.
'Iron Man 3' villain Ben Kingsley will play the father of Radcliffe's character, Roebling Sr., who drew up the plans for the bridge, while 24-year-old '21 Jump Street' actress Larson plays Washington's long-suffering wife, Emily Roebling.
It is believed that the film will pay close attention to Washington and Emily's relationship, with Larson's character contributing to the completion of the bridge after Washington sustains several injuries.
Pascal Degove - Goldcrest Films managing director - said: "This is a film that distributors are really excited about."
He continued: "That this enthusiasm is shared by a highly commercial blend of acclaimed contemporary talent and acting royalty is really a testament to Doug's script and his extraordinary strength as a filmmaker."
The movie - which will be filmed in the spring - will be financed by Goldcrest Films and produced by Rose Ganguzza and Christine Vachon.

New Jack Reacher film promises to be ‘three-hander in terms of audience appeal’

Chris McQuarrie will not be directing the next Jack Reacher film, according to Lee Child.
The 59-year-old author has revealed the director of the first movie, which starred Tom Cruise as the protagonist, will not have the same director due to his other commitments.
Child told Empire magazine: "McQuarrie is going to be in post-production on 'Mission Impossible 5'. He just physically can't do it. It's going to be a new backroom crew, which I think is good. I thought the McQuarrie movie was fantastic, but let's see someone else's take on it.
The upcoming sequel - which will reportedly see Cruise reprise his role from the first film - will be based on the eighteenth book in Child's Jack Reacher series 'Never Go Back', and he's confessed they chose that to follow on from original because of the range of characters and gripping storylines.
He explained: "It's almost a three-hander in terms of audience appeal - you've got Reacher, you've got the woman sidekick (Major Susan Turner), and then you've got this strong teenage girl character which they were very interested in."

Cara Delevingne cast in Paper Towns

Cara Delevingne is to star in the upcoming John Green adaptation 'Paper Towns'.
The model is to play the role of Margo in the new film, which is the second best-selling Green novel to be turned into a movie, following on from 'The Fault in Our Stars'.
Green took to Twitter to confirm the casting news, saying: "Cara Delevigne's audition blew everyone away (including me!) and she understands Margo profoundly. I am so excited!"
Jake Schreier, the director of the film, observed that the model's audition was "something special".
Meanwhile, Delevingne was understandably delighted to have been cast in the role, tweeting: "Thank you so much guys!! I am so excited! Ahhhh! X (sic)"
It's also been confirmed that Nat Wolff will star alongside Delevingne as Quentin, who is asked Margo to help her gain revenge on people who have hurt her.
When Margo vanishes, he follows a series of clues that he hopes will lead to finding her.
Delevingne is, of course, predominantly known as a model, but she has also appeared in Sky Arts Playhouse drama 'Timeless' and will soon star in 'The Face of an Angel', the forthcoming Amanda Knox movie.
'Paper Towns' is set to be released next summer.

Man bitten by snake on set of The Maze Runner

A man has been bitten by a rattlesnake on the set of 'The Maze Runner'.
The snake wrangler - who was hired to remove the dangerous reptiles from the set of the science fiction thriller - was bitten by the baby rattlesnake as he attempted to capture it and was quickly rushed to hospital.
According to one of the film's young stars Thomas Brodie-Sangster, the man has since made a full recovery.
He told the New York Post newspaper's Page Six column at the Cinema Society screening of the post-apocalyptic teen picture: "He got bit, but it was fine.
"He got bit by a little baby rattlesnake. He did get rushed to the hospital, but he was the only one."
The 24-year-old actor and his co-star Dylan O'Brien were lucky to escape injury themselves after discovering two lethal black widow spiders.
Fortunately the pair weren't phased by the incident and Thomas insists the find only added to the "excitement" on the Louisiana set.
When asked about the kinds of snakes they encountered, he said: "Not all poisonous, but we had five different types of venomous snakes and two different kinds of poisonous spiders.
"There was a scene Dylan and I do by a log . . . we did it for hours, and then we got up and a bit of bark fell off and there were two black widows where we were resting our backs. It kind of added to the excitement."
