Joan Rivers’ doctor ‘took a selfie with unconscious star’

Joan Rivers' personal doctor took a selfie while the comedian was under anesthesia and the physician was set to perform an unauthorized biopsy, a report has claimed.
The incident allegedly occurred in Manhattan's Yorkville Endoscopy shortly befor Rivers, 81, underwent a procedure on her vocal chords that led to her suffering a cardiac arrest, CNN reports.
Investigators have been informed of the incident by a member of staff at the clinic, according to the broadcaster, which also claims that gastroenterologist Dr. Lawrence Cohen finished his work on the star shortly before before her unidentified personal physician performed the biopsy.
However, just before performing the procedure, it is claimed that the physician took out his camera to take a picture of himself alongside Rivers, who was unconscious at the time.
During the subsequent biopsy, Rivers suddenly went into cardiac arrest, with investigators believing that her vocal chords began to swell, thereby cutting off oxygen to her lungs.
Earlier this week, a voice recording emerged of Rivers complaining of trouble with her vocal chords.
She can be heard saying: "I told [you] I didn't feel good. My voice has been bothering me. I don't know what it is . . . I feel like s***. I'm tired already."
Later, she said: "That's it - I don't feel good."

John Travolta denies gay sex claims

John Travolta has dismissed gay sex claims made against him by former employee Douglas Gotterba.
Earlier this year, it was claimed by Gotterba that the Hollywood star had been romantically involved with his ex-pilot - but Travolta has hit back at the suggestion, saying there is no foundation to the rumour.
He told The Daily Beast: "This is every celebrity's Achilles heel.
"It's just about people wanting money. That's all. It happens on many levels."
Travolta added that he's grown used to rumours circulating about his personal life and he's now largely unaffected by such speculation.
The actor - who is married to Kelly Preston - explained: "Also, I don't care that much about it. Other people may attack it back more than I do, but I let all the media stuff go a long time ago because I can't control it.
"I think that's why it persists, to some degree."
However, Travolta, 60, did say that he is bothered when his family life is brought into the public spotlight.
He added: "Sex stuff is always going to be interesting to somebody, but you stay away from family."

Prince William and Kate Middleton to hire a nanny for second baby

Kate Middleton and Prince William have decided to hire a maternity nurse for their second child.
The Royal couple broke with tradition by refusing to get a full-time nanny after the birth of Prince George, but it appears they feel raising the newest member of their family independently would be too much of a strain.
A source close to the couple explained to the Daily Mail newspaper: "It was really hard work with George and there were lots of sleepless nights. So Kate has said she's going to have help with the next one."
Kate and William are expected to raise their second child in their new home at Amner Hall in Norfolk.
The source said that the property has been refurbished so that the Royals can raise their children in the best possible surroundings, explaining: "There is a nanny annex and a guest suite with plenty of space for Kate's family. Kate and William plan to go to their own family home after the birth."
Meanwhile, it is expected that Kate will make a decision about whether she does or doesn't make a planned trip to Malta - to mark the island's independence - in the coming days.
It's thought the Duchess may cancel her visit as she's been suffering with severe morning sickness.

Queen spoke out on Scottish referendum after period of ‘reflection’

The Queen decided to make public her thoughts on the impending referendum on Scottish independence after a period of "reflection".
The Daily Telegraph newspaper claims she told aides on Saturday (13.09.14) that she intended to make her thoughts clear to the public the next day, having spent some time considering her position on the issue.
A source explained: "These things don't happen entirely spontaneously and obviously the Queen would give careful consideration to anything like this.
"It wasn't something she did on the spur of the moment - there was a little bit more reflection on her part before she decided to do something of such significance, but equally she was at great pains to make sure that anything that was said was on the right side of the fence in terms of what is constitutionally correct."
The Queen made her thoughts known to members of the public, appearing to suggest that she backs the United Kingdom - but the source says she did so knowing that it was likely to be picked up by national and international media.
The Queen said she hopes "people will think very carefully about the future" ahead of the independence referendum.

Cressida Bonas supports Prince Harry at Invictus Games

Prince Harry's ex-girlfriend Cressida Bonas was among those who turned out to support the Royal at the closing ceremony of the Invictus Games on Sunday evening (14.09.14).
The budding actress was spotted among the vast crowd at the event in London, where she was seen smiling and laughing with her friends including Princess Eugenie, who introduced her to Harry two years earlier.
Despite their split, the pair clearly remain good friends, as evidenced by the fact that Cressida, 25, flew straight back from a family wedding in Italy on Saturday to attend the event.
The previous day she was a guest at the wedding of Gabriella Anstruther-Gough-Calthorpe and Alan Pownall in Tellaro, Liguria.
Meanwhile, Harry has suggested that the Invictus Games could be staged outside London in the coming years.
He explained: "We've now got America showing interest in 2016 and Canada showing interest in 2017 so the question is what do we do next year?
"I personally, along with a couple of other people on the board, would love to keep it in the UK, maybe head north whether it be Glasgow, whether it be Sheffield, whether it be Manchester."

Queen Elizabeth is ‘impartial on independence vote’

Alex Salmond, the First Minister of Scotland, says the Queen is impartial on the upcoming independence referendum.
Over the weekend, Her Majesty told members of the public that she hopes "people will think very carefully about the future", which has been widely interpreted as her backing the United Kingdom.
However, Salmond does not subscribe to that view, saying: "I think Her Majesty the Queen is absolutely impartial in this referendum. I thought the statement from Buckingham Palace last week made that totally clear.
"As a constitutional monarch she is completely impartial on these matters, that has been stated many times.
"Nobody seriously, apart from the more frenetic unionist press, would seek to persuade or tell people otherwise. And I look forward to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth being Queen of Scots."
The Palace has not pledged its support in an official capacity one way or the other, however a source has told the Daily Telegraph newspaper that the Queen was conscious of how her remarks would be perceived.
But a statement from the Palace read: "Any suggestion that the Queen would wish to influence the outcome of the current referendum campaign is categorically wrong. Her Majesty is simply of the view this is a matter for the people of Scotland."

Prince William likes Downton Abbey

Britain's Prince William is a fan of 'Downton Abbey'.
The heir heir to the throne confessed to actress Lily James - who plays rebellious Lady Rose - that he is a big fan of the period drama, while his wife Duchess' Catherine's sister Pippa Middleton also regularly tunes in.
'Downton' star Michelle Dockery told Radio Times magazine: "We bumped into Pippa [at the Wimbledon tennis tournament], who'd come on set a few years ago with her brother and watches the show.
"I'm forever overwhelmed by all the lovely things that happen as a result of being in this and Lily got to meet the Prince recently."
Lily added: "It was a charity event for the Royal Marsden hospital in May.
"Ralph Lauren did this thing at Windsor Castle with Prince William. He's a charmer and said he watches the show, which I'm sure he does."
While William and his family enjoy watching 'Downton Abbey', it has previously been revealed his stepmother, Duchess Camilla, is a big fan of 'Strictly Come Dancing' and has even visited the set of the popular celebrity dance contest as a guest of judge Craig Revel Horwood, who she has worked with on a number of charity projects.
A source said of her secret visit in 2011: "The visit was top secret but Craig thought it would give the remaining contestants and the crew a real boost if Camilla came down to watch them in action.
"The duchess is a big fan of the series and watches the show with her husband Prince Charles so she was very knowledgeable when she was watching the run through.
"None of the contestants could believe it when she walked in, but it certainly made them concentrate even more in the rehearsals and a few of the dancers seemed a bit starstruck."
