Ben Haenow will propose to his girlfriend in 2015.
The 29-year-old star was crowned winner of the 11th series of ‘The X Factor’ yesterday (14.12.14) and has revealed his new-found fame hasn’t changed how he feels about his partner of six years, whom he hopes to wed in the near future.
Speaking on ITV’s ‘This Morning’ about asking Jessica Jones for her hand in marriage, he said: "Yeah I’m going to. I don’t want to give too much away… but it’s definitely going to happen in the New Year, there’s a lot of crazy stuff happening at the moment so we’ll just have to see where it leads."
However, the singer’s 27-year-old girlfriend has revealed she doesn’t want him to feel he has to propose to her just because of media attention, and knows he will only pop the question when it’s right for the both of them.
She explained: "I don’t want Ben to feel pressured by anything or anyone about proposing.
"But when the time is right it will happen, and when it does, I’d like it to be private and nothing too glitzy."
While discussions of wedding plans may be on the cards, the blonde beauty – who revealed the couple’s first date was a candlelit McDonald’s meal – admits they haven’t been able to see each other much in the last few months.
She confessed to MailOnline: "We haven’t had time for date nights recently.
"It has been hard not seeing him and contact has been difficult as he is so busy, but he calls and texts whenever he can and I always get a call before bed which is lovely.
"He’s been very good at keeping me as involved as much as possible and he’s so down to earth – he has stayed very grounded throughout the whole competition."
