Kieron Richardson: Hollyoaks wedding a ‘dress rehearsal’

Kieron Richardson says his ‘Hollyoaks’ wedding was a "dress rehearsal" for his own nuptials.

The 28-year-old actor plays Ste Hay in the Channel 4 soap and is set to marry John Paul McQueen (James Sutton) in the first ever on-screen gay church wedding and he’s confessed he used filming the scenes as practice for his upcoming wedding to fiance Carl Hyland.

He joked: "It is a little dress rehearsal for me in real life. But I have learned not to have any McQueens at my real wedding!"

Kieron is thrilled to be involved in the scenes, which will air at Christmas, as he claims he usually doesn’t feature at all let alone star in the festive specials.

He shared: "Every other year I have missed out on the big Christmas episode so a full show dedicated to Ste and John Paul’s wedding I feel privileged to be a part of it."

Ste is also set to be the focus of even more storylines as he is set to discover he’s HIV positive.

Kieron – who has starred as Ste for seven years – added to The Sun newspaper: "They keep saying it is the storyline of the year. I am very pleased but I’m very nervous, too. It will get people talking and hopefully change people’s opinions."
