Colin Firth wants more action roles

Colin Firth wants to make more action movies.
The 54-year-old actor is best known for serious dramas such as 'The King's Speech' but he had such a good time making 'Kingsman: The Secret Service' - in which he plays secret agent Harry Hart - that he is keen to work more in the genre.
He said: "I guess this is the audition. If I passed it and they invite me in, I'll be there."
Despite enjoying working on the movie, the 'Pride and Prejudice' star sustained a broken tooth but insists it wasn't painful.
He told the New York Post newspaper's Page Six column: "I broke a tooth, which was probably the one that was most troublesome.
"I collided with a hard object. I don't know whether it was a gun or a pole? I don't think I particularly noticed [the pain] until later."
Meanwhile, Colin's 'Kingsman' co-star Samuel L. Jackson didn't worry about falling victim to an injury on set - because he arrived for filming already hurt.
He explained: "I was already injured when I got there . . . I hurt my shoulder doing a film in Germany."
Colin has previously admitted he was so proud of the knocks and scrapes he sustained during filming, he used to photograph all his bruises.
He said: "We had loads [of injuries]. But I'm so proud of them - they're trophies!
"Because there was always this doubt that anybody was going to believe that I was doing it if anyone got a bruise, or certainly if I got a bruise, it was photographed.
"It wasn't, 'Get the nurse,' it was, 'Get the camera.' Show the bruise or the broken tooth.
"We were all absolutely delighted we had something to show for it. It's pathetic. Macho."

Luke Evans says Hobbit trilogy taught him value of patience

Luke Evans has learned the value of patience by working on Hollywood blockbusters.
The 35-year-old star - who appears in 'The Hobbit' trilogy as Bard the Bowman and as the vampire Dracula in the character's film origin story, 'Dracula Untold' - says that because such movies take so long to come together, it's easy to become frustrated.
Asked what the films taught him about the industry, Evans replied: "Patience. You've got to have a lot of patience on a long movie like 'The Hobbit', because there's a lot of hanging about. It is about learning how to wait - that's what Meryl Streep says: 'The acting you get is free, it's the waiting about you have to pay for.'
"It is absolutely worth it, though. When you see the finished product and the credits role with all of the people who have contributed their time and energy. It does make it all very real. With 'Dracula' everybody committed so much of themselves. I am very proud of it."
Evans also said he's relieved to be able to talk about 'The Hobbit' films, having been sworn to secrecy for so long.
He told GQ magazine: "It was fun to see all three Hobbit films out and doing so well. Especially after years of not being able to talk about them. At the time all I wanted to talk about was how good the third movie [The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies] was."

Disney shuffles release dates for Marvel films

Disney has rescheduled its superhero film release dates following Marvel and Sony's collaboration on a new 'Spider-Man' franchise.
The much-anticipated film is set for release on July 28, 2017 and has led to four Marvel films being handed new release dates of their own.
'Thor: Ragnarok', which was originally planned for the same date as the new 'Spider-Man' movie, has been shifted to November 3, 2017, while 'Black Panther' will now be released on July 6, 2018.
What's more, the 'Captain Marvel' movie has been rescheduled for November 2, 2018, with 'Inhumans' being pushed to July 12, 2019.
The studio has also confirmed that both halves of the two-part third installment of the 'Avengers' franchise are to follow the earlier plan, meaning 'Avengers: Infinity War Part 1' will still be released on May 4, 2018 and 'Avengers: Infinity War Part 2' will hit cinemas on May 3, 2019.
Bob Iger, the chairman and CEO of The Walt Disney Company, which owns Marvel Entertainment, recently explained that the company is looking forward to working with "one of Marvel's great characters".
He said: "We're thrilled to work with Sony Pictures to bring the iconic web-slinger into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which opens up fantastic new opportunities for storytelling and franchise building."

Robert Pattinson cast in Brimstone

Robert Pattinson has been cast in 'Brimstone'.
The 28-year-old star, who is best known for appearing in the 'Twilight' franchise, will feature alongside Mia Wasikowska and Guy Pearce in writer-director Martin Koolhoven's thriller.
The new movie, which is set to shoot in May this year, tells the story of a heroine on the run from her past and a preacher, with Pattinson cast in the role of an outlaw, according to Screen Daily.
Tim Haslam, the co-founder of Embankment, who have announced the film, explained: "Wasikowska is a powerhouse performer.
"Guy Peace plays a hunter who unleashes hell. Martin directs a highly emotional, gripping and unique story of a mesmerising woman who battles the vengeance of a zealot."
The movie sees Pattinson and Pearce reunite, following their collaboration on the 'The Rover' in 2014, which recalls the story of a ruthless ex-soldier who tracks down the men who stole his only valuable possession.
Speaking last year, Pattinson said the film represented a landmark in his acting career.
He explained: "I felt for a second that I kind of knew what I was doing a little bit, because I just sort of fell into acting. I've never really felt like that before."

Sony Pictures and Marvel sign landmark deal

Sony Pictures and Marvel have signed a deal that will see Spider-Man appear in an as-yet-unspecified Marvel film.
However, Sony Pictures will not be giving up the film rights to the character and still intends to release the next installment of its own franchise, following Spider-Man's Marvel debut.
Bob Iger, the chairman and CEO of The Walt Disney Company, which owns Marvel Entertainment, commented: "Spider-Man is one of Marvel's great characters, beloved around the world.
"We're thrilled to work with Sony Pictures to bring the iconic web-slinger into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which opens up fantastic new opportunities for storytelling and franchise building."
Meanwhile, Sony Pictures Entertainment chairman and CEO Michael Lynton said: "We always want to collaborate with the best and most successful filmmakers to grow our franchises and develop our characters.
"Marvel, Kevin Feige and Amy [Pascal], who helped orchestrate this deal, are the perfect team to help produce the next chapter of Spider-Man.
"This is the right decision for the franchise, for our business, for Marvel, and for the fans."
It's not yet been revealed who will play Spider-Man in his first Marvel outing, but in a statement, Sony referred to "the new Spider-Man", prompting speculation Andrew Garfield will not be returning to the role.

Paddington sequel is being planned

A 'Paddington' sequel is in the works.
The film's director Paul King has suggested the sequel will be based on one of author Michael Bond's novels.
He told Digital Spy: "We'd love to do another one, there's lots of Paddington books and source material.
"He's a great character to write for and direct so I'd love to do more. I really hope we can make it happen."
Meanwhile, Olivier Courson, the chairman and CEO of StudioCanal, recently revealed talks had already begun with producer David Heyman to work on a follow-up to the 2014 hit film, which starred Nicole Kidman, Hugh Bonneville, Peter Capaldi and Ben Whishaw.
He told Variety: "We have to be selective, work with strong brands, top talent, take the time we need.
"Obviously, the result on Paddington is a strong incentive to us and the partners on the movie to work on a sequel, and a strong incentive for StudioCanal to continue in this area (of ambitious family movies)."
'Paddington' has already earned more than $200 million at the worldwide box office, meaning it has become the highest-grossing family film released by a non-US film studio.

Sam Taylor-Johnson confirms 50 Shades sequel

Sam Taylor-Johnson has "signed on" for a 'Fifty Shades of Grey' sequel.
The filmmaker has confirmed there are plans in place for a follow-up to the raunchy drama - which is based on the first book in E.L. James' racy trilogy - and she is already attached to take the helm again.
Asked if there are plans for a sequel, she told E! News: "I'm signed on. Let's see how this one goes first."
Sam also admitted she had worked very hard on choreographing the movie's sex scenes in order to make things as comfortable as possible for Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson, who play Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele.
She explained: "[The sex scenes] were very choreographed. It had to be choreographed because I didn't want to make them go through it [countless times].
"It's an uncomfortable environment. You have to base it on trust. You have to build that trust to get there."
The two stars of the movie got on very well and their natural chemistry influenced their relationship on screen.
The director said: "The chemistry was funny because the two of them liked to out-funny each other. So there's this competition about who's the funniest.
"When I saw that humour, I thought we have to build this into the movie. A lot of it came naturally...It just felt like it was right to take that journey into much darker places."

James Marsden says The Best of Me has everlasting appeal

James Marsden thinks 'The Best of Me' has an everlasting appeal.
The 41-year-old star - who appeared alongside Rachel McAdams and Ryan Gosling in the 2004 hit 'The Notebook' - says the decision to accept a role in a second Nicholas Sparks adaptation was based on the movie's timeless charm.
He shared: "When I make my decisions about what roles I take, I have the tendency to jump all over the place and that is what makes it interesting for me.
"I don't feel like I have done something like this since 'The Notebook'. You also want to be aware of what type of films audiences like to go see. I guess part of me thinks there is a group of people out there that likes seeing me in this kind of role. That plays into the decision making a little bit."
Although some themes slip out of fashion in the film-making industry, Marsden insists 'The Best of Me' doesn't fall into that trap.
He added: "Beyond that, these themes are never out of style. These types of films are always something that people want to go see."
'The Best of Me' is available on Blu-ray and DVD now, courtesy of Entertainment One.
