Ricky Gervais has secured the funding to make a movie based on 'The Office'.
The 53-year-old star - who co-wrote and directed the original TV series, in which he starred as David Brent - has confirmed that the documentary-style film will be titled 'Life on the Road' and claimed it will end up like "[Martin] Scorsese shooting The Rolling Stones".
He said: "I'm so excited that the world will see what David Brent is up to now and where his future lies.
"This film delves much more into his private life than The Office ever did, and we really get to peel back the layers of this extraordinary, ordinary man."
Since the first incarnation of 'The Office', which ran from 2001 until 2003, there have been numerous overseas spin-offs, including a hit US version on NBC.
Meanwhile, Gervais has reprised the role of David Brent for comedy appearances, as well as for a sell-out music tour in which he performed alongside his band Forgone Conclusion.
But following the conclusion of the show, Gervais and his co-writer, comedian Stephen Merchant, suggested they would not return to the characters.
Asked if there was any chance they'd make more episodes of the TV series, they previously said: "We promise you we won't have any more good ideas."

Cara Delevingne has been cast in the Luc Besson-directed 'Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets'.
The 22-year-old model-turned-actress, who recently starred in 'The Face Of An Angel', is set to appear alongside American actor Dane DeHaan in an adaptation of the French comic book series 'Valerian and Laureline'.
Luc, who directed the 1997 blockbuster 'The Fifth Element', tweeted: "My first tweet ever! Let's share a real news! My next film is a big sci-fi: #Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets."
His message was soon retweeted by Cara, who's been cast as 11th century peasant girl Laureline in the story about time travel.
Cara's casting comes shortly after she revealed that she much prefers acting to modelling, even though she made her name as a catwalk star.
The London-born beauty said: "I've always wanted to be an actress, more than anything in the world."
Even though she's walked for a number of top fashion brands, Cara confessed it fails to ignite her "fire".
She said: "Modelling was never a passion of mine. It wasn't something that made my heart beat and built a fire inside of me."

Eddie Redmayne has reportedly been offered the role of Newt Scamander in 'Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them'.
Last month it was reported the 33-year-old actor was in talks to feature in the 'Harry Potter' spinoff film, and Variety has now revealed he is set to play the lead role.
The website claims the 'Theory of Everything' star wanted to read a finished script before committing to the part and is now moving forward with the project after admitting he is pleased with the final story.
The movie - which is being directed by David Yates and is expected to be released in November 2016 - will be set in New York, and follows the adventures of the 'Fantastic Beasts' Hogwarts textbook's author, Newt, several decades before the 'Harry Potter' saga.
The 'Harry Potter' author, J.K. Rowling - who will make her screenwriting debut with the project - previously explained although the film will be set in the same magical world, it is not a "prequel nor a sequel" to her famous series of books, which were turned into eight films from 2001 to 2011.
She said: "Although it will be set in the worldwide community of witches and wizards where I was so happy for 17 years, 'Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them' is neither a prequel nor a sequel to the 'Harry Potter' series but an extension of the wizarding world."

Nicholas Hoult felt like he was "on the moon" while filming 'Mad Max: Fury Road'.
The 25-year-old actor, who stars alongside Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron in the new sci-fi movie, has revealed how filming 'Mad Max' in Namibia in South Africa made it a unique experience.
He explained to Time Out London magazine: "It felt like you were on the moon most days. It's an isolated place, and literally 360 degrees around you, all you could see was the horizon and heat shimmer.
"Then a crew of about 700 people would roll in from nowhere and spend the day driving an armada of vehicles around, blowing stuff up. A lot of the time blockbuster movies are very safe and even though I'm in it, I think this is one of the most original things I've seen.
"You felt that on set - you'd turn up in this stark landscape with all these incredible creations all around."
Meanwhile, Nicholas - who's set to star in 'X-Men: Apocalypse' in 2016 - recently revealed he'd like to continue with the franchise, even though he's only committed to one more movie.
He said: "This is the last one I'm signed up for.
"The first one did so well and [X-Men: Days of Future Past] got received so brilliantly. I have a good time playing [Beast] so I'd keep making them."

The Oscar-winning actress has signed on to star in the eagerly-awaited project from director Nacho Vigalondo, which has been described as a cross between 'Godzilla' and 'Lost in Translation'.
The 32-year-old star - who recently appeared in Christopher Nolan's 'Interstellar' - has been cast in the role of Gloria, who moves back to her hometown after losing her job as well as her fiance.
Thereafter, Gloria learns that a giant lizard has attacked Tokyo, Japan and most shockingly, she seems to have a psychic connection with it.
Gloria then sets about the task of trying to determine why she has such a major impact on the fate of the world.
Anne recently caused a stir when she appeared in a one-woman stage show in New York, in which she played a fighter pilot sidelined after childbirth to become a drone operator.
Prior to that, the actress starred in 'Song One', in which she played a graduate student who traveled to New York to see her brother who's in a coma.
Anne's husband Adam Shulman was a producer on the movie and she revealed it was a harmonious experience.
She said: "I know how irritating this answer is going to be. I was always happy to see him when I got home."

Charlize Theron thinks women are misrepresented in sci-fi movies.
The 39-year-old actress stars as one-armed Imperator Furiosa in 'Mad Max: Fury Road' and has claimed the movie is unusual in that it features strong female lead characters.
She reflected: "I've always wanted to explore the genre a little bit more, especially because I think it's such a misconception that women don't like the genre, or that they don't want to go and see these movies.
"I just feel like women have been so misrepresented in these films - why do we have to go and see the genre every single time with the girl in the back of the frame in a push-up bra? Why isn't there a girl that's standing on the same playing field with the guys?"
The George Miller-directed movie also features Zoë Kravitz and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, and Charlize has backed the film's female contingent to survive in a post-apocalyptic world.
She told 'Live! With Kelly and Michael': "We don't want to be guys, but in a post-apocalyptic world, we will survive! There's something really, really nice about playing this woman who is a woman, first of all, but is a rogue warrior just like Max, and can fight just as well as Max with one arm.
"I think all the women - there's a lot of women in this movie, like three different generations of women in this story, and I think they're represented really well. And they kick butt."

Liam Neeson is in final negotiations to star in new action movie 'A Willing Patriot'.
The 62-year-old actor, who'd previously suggested he wouldn't appear in another action film, will play a CIA agent who tries to outsmart and capture a terrorist in the Martin Zandvliet-directed movie.
Producer Marc Butan said: "Liam Neeson is one of the defining actors of our generation and audiences will love him in this role.
"After seeing Martin's new film 'Land Of Mine', we knew he was an incredible storyteller and the perfect match to collaborate with Liam."
This comes after Liam revealed he doesn't film a fight scene more than three times because he fears he'll get "exhausted".
Liam - who starred as ex-covert operative Bryan Mills in the 'Taken' franchise - said: "Each shot depends on lot of things but at the third, I'm exhausted, so we try not to repeat each scene more than three times.
"We rehearse a lot fights so that when we shot there is no accident and no punch, at least until now."
Meanwhile, Liam previously revealed: "I get sent quite a few action-orientated scripts, which is great. I'm not knocking it. It's very flattering. But there is a limit of course."

Simon Pegg thinks Tom Cruise is less "complex" than people suspect.
The British actor - who stars alongside Cruise, 52, in 'Mission: Impossible - Rouge Nation' - has revealed he didn't push his Scientology beliefs onto other people while they were filming.
The 45-year-old star revealed: "I've known him for 10 years and (Scientology has) never come up. It's not something he talks about or preaches. I don't know what the story is. The thing about Tom is that he doesn't participate with the public persona of himself, or do anything to alter it.
"In fact I think he's quite happy to allow a degree of mystique to flow around him, because it makes him more enigmatic and more interesting as an actor.
"And it's interesting because the closer you get to Tom, the less complex he becomes. As the clouds of ridiculousness thin, there's this kind of ... this ordinary man."
Simon also said he enjoyed socialising with Tom, revealing they shared "a lot of fist-bumps".
He told The Sunday Times newspaper: "I really like hanging out with him. We do these workouts together, which are a lot of fun. There's a lot of high-flying. A lot of fist-bumps. I get to see his Clark Kent side, d'you know what I mean?"
