Michael Fassbender enlists stuntman for 150ft jump on Assasin’s Creed

Michael Fassbender finished ‘Assasin’s Creed’ injury-free thanks to his stuntman jumping off a 150ft cliff.
The 38-year-old star plays the protagonist Callum Lynch in the silver screen adaptation of the popular video game series but it was British gymnast Damien Walters – who worked opposite Daniel Craig on ‘Skyfall’ and Colin Firth on ‘Kingsman: The Secret Service’ – who stepped in for the Irish heartthrob to carry out the impressive feat.
He exclusively told BANG Showbiz: "I’ve just worked with Michael (Fassbender) on ‘Assassin’s Creed’, I was his double on that and we became quite good friends in the end. You’re taking the knocks and the bangs and the scariness out of it for them. That’s our skill set. That’s what we’ve trained all the way to do.
"Something you wouldn’t want somebody to be trying for the first time or if they are not confident with heights. Like for Michael (Fassbender), I do a 150ft high fall."
Damien – who has since performed a back flip over a speeding race car, ahead of the annual Formula E event which takes place at ePrix in Paris on Saturday (23.04.16) – said the jump involved a risk movie bosses simply weren’t willing to take with the star.
Speaking about filming the blockbuster – which also stars Marion Cotillard, Jeremy Irons and Brendan Gleeson – he recalled: "Basically, if you get that wrong and don’t land perfectly, you’re not gonna get up for a long time.
"It was pretty cool, we spent the whole day working up to that height in Spain. We started at 6.30am and all day we (went from) 70ft, 80ft, 90ft then 100ft."
The Formula E season concludes in London with a double-header in Battersea Park on 2nd and 3rd July. For more information go to www.fiaformulae.com
