Martin Compston worries for mental health of young TV stars

Martin Compston worries for the mental health of young television stars.
The ‘Line of Duty’ actor can see how the way reality TV catapults someone into fame so quickly could have a detrimental effect on a person’s mental wellbeing.
He said: "You’re churning all these kids out and you make them super-famous for six months and then they get dropped. It must be a head wrecker for some of them to go, ‘I was on every TV show and everybody was loving me and now I’m just forgotten about,’ and you can see how some go off the rails.
"I don’t think there’s enough protection for them."
Martin understands how the "pressure" could be too much for some to bear.
Speaking on the ‘Overrated Everything’ podcast, he added: "I can see how somebody could really do something unfortunate when you’re under that sort of pressure."
Martin now lives in Las Vegas with his wife Tianna – who is expecting the couple’s first child – with the pair moving to be closer to her family in the United States.
He said: "When you’re married and are getting older your priorities change. We’re getting to the point of maybe starting a family and your wife needs her family around her. We’ve moved to Vegas and are two streets – I nearly said two blocks there – away from my mother-in-law."
Speaking before they announced the news they were expecting, he added: "I absolutely would like family. We’re at that age and the move to Vegas was to buy a house, put down proper roots and look to the future."
