Louis Smith is going to be a dad for the first time

Louis Smith is going to be a dad.

The former ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ star revealed his girlfriend Charlie Bruce is pregnant with their first baby, and they are expecting a girl.

Alongside a video of the moment they found out about her pregnancy, Louis wrote: "Doing life on my terms. A big surprise and it’s amazing to be having a baby girl with my woman @charliebruce1990.

"In this crazy time and during a global struggle I wish everyone a happy life and a world of positivity.

"Find the light in darkness’s and the hope at the end of a tunnel. Life is full of ups and downs and right now we are taking an up. (sic)"

The 31-year-old Olympian is set to become a dad in February next year.

Posting on her own account, Charlie said: "We are so elated to announce that we are having a baby girl!! Due date 19.2.21. (sic)"

The couple celebrated in their back garden with champagne for their loved ones.

Charlie seemed to go public with her relationship with Louis back in February last year, as she shared a mirror selfie in a hotel bathroom with the star in the background.

The exciting news comes after Louis – who has also appeared on the likes of ‘Celebrity Hunted’ and ‘The Jump – retired from gymnastics in 2018.

He explained at the time: "I think I’m a baby in the grand scheme of things. It was a tough decision.

"Last year, I had the mindset that given the time around now, I was going to get back into training and push for 2020.

"The whole qualification process has changed; there was a minuscule chance I would even qualify. I thought I would give it a chance.

"Then new opportunities come up and you have to make smart life choices, I can’t keep putting on a leotard!"
