Joel Edgerton to join Jennifer Lawrence in Red Sparrow

Joel Edgerton is set to be cast in ‘Red Sparrow’ joining Jennifer Lawrence in the movie.
The 42-year-old ‘Black Mass’ actor has reportedly begun talks to star in the thriller based on Jason Matthews’ spy novel.
According to Deadline, the feature will reunite 25-year-old Lawrence with ‘Hunger Games’ director Francis Lawrence who will be at the helm and Justin Hay has rewritten a script by ‘American Hustle’ scriptwriter Eric Warren Singer.
The novel takes place in modern day Russia, and centres on Dominika Egorova – played by Lawrence – who is forced to become a ‘Sparrow’, a trained seductress, in the post-Soviet intelligence service.
She is assigned to work against Nathaniel Nash – who will be played by Edgerton if the talks go well – a CIA officer, and the two clash until the sexual attraction kicks in and outs them both at risk.
The plot twists and Dominika is recruited by the CIA to uncover a traitor in Washington.
Edgerton can currently be seen in ‘Loving’ which revolves around a 1967 case that reversed laws banning inter-racial marriage.
Meanwhile Lawrence has two other movies due for release; ‘Passengers’ is a science fiction film that is directed by Morton Tyldum also stars Chris Pratt. It is due for release on 21 December 2016.
The ‘X Men: Apocalypse’ star is also currently filming Darren Aronofsky’s ‘Day 6’, which is a drama featuring Javier Bardem, Michelle Pfeiffer and Ed Harris.
That movie is due to hit cinemas on 29 December 2017.
