James McVey backs bandmate for I’m A Celebrity win

James McVey has backed his The Vamps bandmate Connor Ball to compete on ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!’ – and win the series.
The 24-year-old musician – who plays in the pop band with the 22-year-old bassist, Tristan Evans and Brad Simpson – believes Connor has what it takes to become King of the Jungle on the hit ITV reality show, partly because he is "really compassionate".
When asked which one of The Vamps he believes would "smash it" if they went into the jungle, James told Heatworld: "It’s a tough one because I think they all offer different qualities.
"Connor is really good physically so he would smash all the trials. Tristan is hilariously funny so would just be a bit of a joker. And Brad’s really compassionate.
"I think they’d all offer something. I think Connor would do the best maybe. But they’d all do really well."
The ‘Can We Dance ‘ hitmaker admitted seeing his former fellow campmate Harry Redknapp with his wife Sandra – who he married in 1967 – inspired him to take the plunge and propose to his girlfriend Kirstie Brittain during a new year’s break to the Lake District.
He said: "I knew I wanted to propose to Kirstie this year anyway but I think seeing or hearing how solid him and Sandra had been for 50 or something years really affirmed to me that you can still have a successful marriage.
"I think everyone was in there was just asking about us the more I spoke about it the more it made sense to just propose. He helped me get the ring and stuff which was amazing.
"It feels like I’ve got a new family and Harry is just like a granddad to me in a weird way. It makes you figure out what you want, doing that show."
