Holly Hagan and Nathan Henry join mental health campaign

Holly Hagan and Nathan Henry have teamed up with Ditch the Label for Mental Health Awareness Week 2019.
The ‘Geordie Shore’ duo are fronting a campaign – launched as part of a new partnership between MTV and the anti-bullying charity – which aims to tackle bullying and look at how it can impact mental health.
Holly said: "I’m so honoured to be working with MTV and Ditch The Label on an issue so close to my heart.
"As someone in the public eye I expect criticism, but the levels of hate online are sometimes unbearable. No one should have to go through it, especially young people who already face so many pressures."
Nathan added that online abuse is hard "to escape", and says he hides "certain abusive words" on his own social media accounts.
He explained: "The problem with online abuse is that you can’t escape it, you can’t just turn your back on it because it’s everywhere.
"I’ve personally had to mute certain abusive words on my own Instagram, it’s sad that it’s come to that.
"We need action now, there should be stricter rules to ensure abusive people are banned from social media altogether."
On Tuesday (14.05.19), the reality TV stars will take part in an MTV News special on Facebook and Twitter as they discuss their own personal experiences and the devastating impact of online abuse.
They will be joined by Ditch the Label founder and CEO Dr. Liam Hackett, who hopes the campaign can reach a wide audience and make a difference.
He said: "We are so excited to be partnering with MTV on an issue that we feel so strongly about.
"Online abuse is a real epidemic for young people and can often leave people who are victimised feeling isolated and alone.
"Each week we help thousands to overcome bullying and the harmful impacts through our online support community, online resources and global campaigns.
"Together with some familiar faces at MTV we hope to stamp out bullying in all its forms."
