Greg Rutherford leaves Strictly Come Dancing

Greg Rutherford has been booted out of ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
The 30-year-old athlete and his professional partner Natalie Lowe exited the BBC One latin and ballroom competition on Sunday evening (20.11.16) after the judges – Len Goodman, Craig Revel Horwood, Bruno Tonioli and Darcey Bussell – opted to put Claudia Fragapane and AJ Pritchard through to next week’s show.
Speaking after his exit, Greg said tearily: "It’s been one of the most incredible things in my life. I’ve been very lucky in my life, I’ve done such amazing things but this is truly one of the best things I’ve done. I’ve made such good friends here."
Whilst Natalie added: "You’re an amazing man and you’ve never had any dance experience and you got out there and just showed the world you can dance.
"It’s been the most incredible experience dancing every Saturday night with you and I wouldn’t change it for the world. I’m so sorry I couldn’t get you any further."
During Saturday night’s (19.11.16) show, Greg and Natalie danced the quickstep to ‘Hand Jive’ from the movie ‘Grease’ and whilst he was praised for his travelling and being "bouncy and bubbly", Craig criticised the sportsman for having too much power in his legs.
He told Greg: "You have too much power into the floor and your thumb was sticking up but you danced it brilliantly."
Whilst Bruno added: "It was sporty, bouncy and bubbly. It was good to see a brighter side of you but refine the footwork, it needs to glide effortlessly – but your frame was better."
However, Darcey really enjoyed the performance, telling Greg: "You have natural spring and no problem travelling. You lost control and made little mistakes but you smiled through it and made it fun to watch."
