Dragon’s Den star Levi Roots has acting dream

‘Dragon’s Den’ legend Levi Roots wants to become an actor.
Not content with being one of the biggest success stories from the BBC business show, on which he showcased his now best-selling Reggae Reggae Sauce, and having a music career which includes compiling new album ‘Levi Roots Presents Reggae Reggae Hits’, Levi now wants to pursue his love of acting.
The 59-year-old businessman made a cameo appearance in Adam Deacon’s 2011 urban comedy film ‘Anuvahood’ but he’s determined to take acting lessons so he can land some proper roles and fulfil a long-time ambition.
Speaking to BANG Showbiz, Levi shared: "I’d love to go into acting, I had a small role in ‘Anuvahood’ and was bit by the bug. I’ve been very busy the last three years opening my restaurant, the Caribbean Smokehouse, and focusing on my new Reggae Reggae Sauce products. Maybe next year I’ll see if I can take some lessons and do it. I’ve always felt that I could do anything so I want to see if I can do this."
Before he pursues his acting dream, Levi is focusing on soundtracking the nation’s summer with a compilation of his favourite reggae tunes all of which have played a big part in his life.
The dread-locked entrepreneur admits he found it hard to choose just 60 tracks but is confident that songs such as Maxi Priest’s ‘Wild World’, Desmond Dekker’s ‘You Can Get It If You Really Want’ and Jimmy Cliff’s ‘Wonderful World Beautiful People’ will get people smiling in the sun.
Levi said: "It’s a collection of music that’s perfect for the summer we’re having, they’re tunes that you know, that are easy listening and you can just sit back and reach for a beer or a glass of wine and kick back. "Music has played a big part in my life in everything I do, including the stuff I’ve done with food. The songs on this album are ones that have inspired me in everything I’ve done from ‘Dragon’s Den’ to much more, each of these songs tells a different part of my life story. It was quite hard to get them down to just 60. It was also great to be able to have two of my own tracks on their which are from my last album ‘Rise Above’, they’re my covers of ‘A Message To You Rudi’ and ‘Don’t Worry Be Happy’.
‘Levi Roots Presents Reggae Reggae Hits’ is released this Friday (21.07.17).
