Colin Firth in Mary Poppins talks

Colin Firth is in talks to join the cast of ‘Mary Poppins Returns’.
The 56-year-old actor has entered negotiations about the role of William Weatherall Wilkins, president of Fidelity Fiduciary Bank, in the forthcoming film, according to Variety.
Should Firth sign up for the Disney project he will star alongside Emily Blunt, who has landed the lead role in the movie.
Meryl Streep will portray Mary’s cousin, Ben Whishaw is to appear as Michael Banks with Emily Mortimer as Jane Banks, and Lin-Manuel Miranda will star as a street lamplighter called Jack.
Rob Marshall is to direct the movie as well as produce the motion picture alongside John DeLuca, and Marc Platt.
Blunt recently admitted the titular role is her "dream" part.
She said: "It is my dream.
"I mean, she’s such an iconic nostalgic figure for people. So it’s a gift to give to my kids that I get to be this generation’s Mary Poppins."
Blunt has already started learning the songs ahead of rehearsals beginning next month, but admitted she is both "scared and thrilled" to be a part of the film.
She said: "We did an incredible workshop of the script a few weeks back. It’s so heart racing, so exciting. It’s a complete different re-imagining of the whole thing. And I’m scared and thrilled to be in it and it’s cool."
The original ‘Mary Poppins’ movie was released in 1964 and starred Julie Andrews in the titular role and Dick Van Dyke as Mary’s closest friend Bert.
