Blake Harrison thinks The Inbetweeners stars are ‘too old’ for comeback

Blake Harrison has suggested ‘The Inbetweeners’ stars are "too old" to get away with the same outrageous humour.
The 32-year-old actor – who played Neil Sutherland in the hugely popular school sitcom, which spawned two big screen movies – shrugged off calls for a new series and insisted the cast couldn’t make the same "offensive" jokes at this stage.
Speaking on ITV’s Good Morning Britain about rumours of a return on Monday (28.05.18), he said: "I just don’t think it would work, I think we’re too old now.
"I think the reason it was so funny was because you had these idiotic, ignorant lads that you let them get away with saying things that would be quite offensive, but as they get older, you can’t excuse it."
The star’s assessment of the situation comes after his former co-star Simon Bird, 33, also dashed the hopes of the nation and dismissed speculation the show could make a comeback for its 10th anniversary this year.
Appearing on ‘Lorraine’ earlier this month, he told viewers: "It’s definitely over. We’re all so happy and proud of what we did with it and don’t want to spoil it by going back."
Simon – who played Will – and Blake’s fellow cast mate James Buckley (Jay) added fuel to the fire recently by sharing a snap of the stars – including Joe Thomas (Simon) – and co-creators Damon Beesley and Iain Morris, joking that it was a production meeting for series four.
Meanwhile, Greg Davies – who portrayed spiteful teacher Mr Gilbert in the young adult comedy from 2008 until 2010 – has also bee adamant he’ll never reprise his role for the programme because he’s played a sir too many times and thinks it’s best it’s left to rest on a high.
He said: "It’s a case of writing what you know. But I won’t play another teacher.
"After the ‘Inbetweeners’ I contemplated making Dan [a teacher he plays in ‘Man Down’] in to something else. But the more the writing process went on the more I realised I was just missing a trick. It would be silly not to use these feelings I know.
"There’s a truth to it. Children are entertaining and chaotic. I loved being in the ‘Inbetweeners’ but it’s reached a natural conclusion."
