The BBC has dropped ‘Ordeal by Innocence’ from its festive schedule after its leading man Ed Westwick was accused of serious sexual assault by two women.
The broadcaster has decided not to include the upcoming Agatha Christie drama, in which the actor plays Mickey Argyll, until the police have finished their investigations.
A spokesperson for the BBC said: "These are serious allegations which Ed Westwick has strenuously denied. The BBC is not making any judgement but until these matters are resolved we will not include ‘Ordeal by Innocence’ in the schedules."
The 30-year-old star has also decided to stop filming for ‘White Gold’ while he deals with the allegations and works cooperatively with the police during their enquiries.
They added: "The independent production company making ‘White Gold’ has informed us that Ed Westwick has paused from filming while he deals with these allegations."
The former ‘Gossip Girl’ star is determined to clear his name after Aurélie Wynn and Kristina Cohen recently claimed they had been sexually assaulted by him.
He said on Twitter: "It is disheartening and sad to me that as a result of two unverified and provably untrue social media claims, there are some in this environment who could ever conclude I have had anything to do with such vile and horrific conduct. I have absolutely not, and am cooperating with the authorities so that they can clear my name as soon as possible."
