Anton du Beke plans show for NHS

Anton du Beke is planning a concert for NHS staff battling the coronavirus crisis.
The ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ pro is hoping to rope in his fellow dancers to host a special show at the London Palladium to thank the frontline workers who have risked their own lives to save those suffering from the respiratory disease.
Though there are no confirmed plans for the gig, the 53-year-old dancer is hoping former ‘Strictly’ pro Brendan Cole will agree to star in his show.
As quoted by The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre TV column, he said: "I haven’t got names confirmed yet but the plan is to ask Brendan and the ‘Strictly’ pro dancers to join in.
"The NHS workers have worked so hard for us."
Brendan – who took part in the BBC One competition from 2005 to 2009 – is currently stuck in a holiday home in Majorca after strict lockdown rules has left him stranded in Spain.
The 43-year-old dancer and his wife Zoe – who have seven-year-old daughter Aurelia and two-year-old son Danté – took to Instagram on Saturday (04.04.20) to share an update of their current situation.
Filming a short video of their outdoor pool, Brendan captioned it: "Next project underway… Toddler proofing the pool until we can get proper pool fencing in! Up cycled shutter mosquito screens. Bloody genius! Might paint them! Quite ugly!!"
Meanwhile, ‘Strictly’ bosses have backed the show to return this autumn despite the ongoing health crisis.
The broadcaster’s controller of programming has suggested the show could go ahead, if the current situation improves.
Speaking to Emma Bullimore on BBC Essex, Dan McGolpin said: "It wouldn’t be the same if we didn’t have ‘Strictly’ in the autumn, would it?
"So no of course the BBC is doing everything it can, and I know that everyone involved in that production team would absolutely love that to happen this Autumn."
The competition typically launches in August or September with the reveal of the celebrity lineup, and live shows follow in October as the programme concludes in December.
