Andrew Lloyd Webber to make Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat film

Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber is working on an animated ‘Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat’ movie.
The 69-year-old composer is to work alongside Tim Rice – with whom he created the original stage production almost 50 years ago – to create new songs for the venture.
The film will be produced for STX Entertainment’s family division by Sir Elton John’s Rocket Pictures in association with Really Useful Group.
Announcing the news at CinemaCon, David Kosse, president of STX International said: "Originally written by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice as a pop cantata for students in London in 1968, ‘Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat’ was expanded into a concept album and subsequently a globally successful theatrical stage phenomenon.
"Joseph has become one of the most enduring, irresistible and beloved family musicals of all time. We could not be more honoured or excited to be partnering with Andrew, Tim and Elton, legends of music, stage and screen, on this animated telling of this timeless story."
Based on the biblical story of Joseph and his brothers, ‘Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat’ follows the rise and fall of Jacob’s favourite son, who is sold into slavery and his death faked by his jealous brothers.
But his fortunes change thanks to his knack for interpreting dreams, and he ultimately reunites with his family.
It is not yet known who is being lined up to voice the film.
Meanwhile, it was reported earlier this month that Liam Payne was being eyed to star in a stage reboot of ‘Joseph and the amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat’ on London’s West End later this year.
