A$AP Rocky provides update on delayed Don’t Be Dumb album

A$AP Rocky has revealed his delayed album Don’t Be Dumb will be released this year.

Danny Elfman, the famed composer who has collaborated regularly with Tim Burton, contributed to some of the songs.

Rocky told Vanity Fair: “Danny Elfman, he just did my album with me that I’m putting out this year. He scored a bunch of the songs on my new album.”

The 37-year-old star – whose real name is Rakim Mayers – previously revealed legendary filmmaker Burton has heard the record and is an unlikely fan.

He told Billboard: “I sat and I played the album for Tim Burton, and he was f****** with it heavy, he was rocking his head and he’s like, ‘Wow! I didn’t know you made that kind of music!’”

The two were in contact as the Praise The Lord hitmaker wanted the Edward Scissorhands director to design the artwork for the LP, but unfortunately, they couldn’t make it happen.

It’s a highly collaborative effort, with guests expected to include Tyler, The Creator, Metro Boomin, Madlib, Pharrell Williams, Swedish House Mafia, and Mike Dean.

The LP was due to be released on August 30, 2024, but there have been a few setbacks along the way, forcing the record to be pushed back to 2025.

Part of the delay was down to “leaks and sample clearances”.

So far, fans have heard the singles Tailor Swift, Highjack, Ruby Rosary, Pray4DaGang.

Rocky’s last studio album was 2018’s Testing.
