Corrie stars fight over pay

'Coronation Street' stars are reportedly fighting with bosses over their salaries.
Youngsters on the ITV soap have been left reeling after discovering veteran stars are being paid up to six times as much for their role on the cobbles.
It is thought newcomers receive around £40,000 a year to appear on the show, while actors including Kym Marsh, Bill Roache and Michael Le Vell are on an estimated £100,000 with even bigger stars raking in around £250,000 per year.
However, show bosses are said to be unconcerned with their complaints as they know there are countless actors who would jump at the chance to replace them.
A source told The Sun newspaper: "The kids are on pittance compared with the older stars, and do a lot more episodes.
"Bosses don't care because they know there's plenty of other young kids eager to join. There is a lot of unhappiness.
"The show also recently introduced a system to dock the wages of people who bring the show into disrepute, causing a lot of ill-feeling."
The pay gap may even be responsible for recent departures from the soap - which include Michelle Keegan, Charlie Condou and Chris Gascoyne - as stars are becoming aware they can earn more money elsewhere.
The source said: "The new stars are trapped on contracts that mean they will never earn the big money and yet are prevented from boosting their income in different ways.
"They are allowed to do personal appearances in clubs or shops but can't be the face of a make-up or clothes range.
"The soap doesn't pay the wages to make people want to stay for life. More experienced actors know they can earn the same doing other things, while working about half as hard."

Chloe Jasmine rushed to hospital

Chloe Jasmine was rushed to hospital after her foot "doubled in size".
'The X Factor' hopeful was reportedly admitted to hospital yesterday (14.10.14) after she accidentally stepped on a piece of glass.
According to The Sun newspaper, ITV bosses were concerned for the singer on Monday (13.10.14) after her foot swelled to twice the size and she was soon taken to hospital.
A source told the paper: "It was a very nasty accident and Chloe's foot doubled in size and is causing her a lot of pain.
"The glass seemed to stay inside her foot so a hospital trip was inevitable."
The insider also revealed that Chloe was worried that her sore foot could hurt her chances on the singing competition because it has prevented her from rehearsing properly.
Although, she could also be distracted by her new love interest Stevi Ritchi, following rumours that the two contestants are dating.
Speaking at the Attitude Awards earlier this week, Jake Quickenden - who is also competing on the ITV show - hinted that there could be a romance on the cards.
He told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "There seems to be a little connection, they get on very well and I know they're very fond of each other."

Chiles Cartwright: Steven Ugoalah to ‘clash with everybody’

Chiles Cartwright thinks Steven Ugoalah will "clash with everybody" on 'The Apprentice'.
The 35-year-old business director was the first candidate to be fired from the BBC One entrepreneurial reality series last night (14.10.14) and he's claimed Steven's disruptiveness was holding him back.
Chiles - who was put in charge of a small group from the men's team for the first task - exclusively told BANG Showbiz: "I would imagine he's going to clash with everybody. I mean, he was clashing with everybody in my team on the day."
The martial arts enthusiast refused to pick up an order of printed t-shirts - which resulted in them losing the task - despite Steven insisting they should go back for them, but he sticks by his decision and claims his rival should have been sent home instead.
He added: "Obviously it was shown that me and Steven had some banter. I think he's a great character, I mean he's got a lot of energy and what I love about him is that he always passionately believes in everything he says, which is quite a lot.
"So I actually thought he was quite disruptive as well throughout the whole process, so for me personally he would've gone.
"I actually think he was the most disruptive and the one that was kind of holding us back all day."
After being the first to be sent home by Lord Alan Sugar, Chiles has now tipped Solomon "Solly" Akhtar to win the £250,000 investment and partnership with the business mogul.
He said: "I think James [Hill] has got some really strong qualities, he's a really sort of Jack-the-lad, market trader-style guy ... But actually the one that I'd really like to back is Solly."
'The Apprentice' continues tonight (15.10.14) at 9pm on BBC One.

James Jordan: This year’s Strictly Come Dancing ‘worst ever’

James Jordan has slammed this year's 'Strictly Come Dancing' as the "worst ever".
The professional dancer was axed from the BBC One celebrity dance contest earlier this year and thinks the current series is "struggling" without him and veteran presenter Sir Bruce Forsyth.
He told Closer magazine: "The ratings are down. They're struggling without Bruce Forsyth hosting or me dancing. It's the worst 'Strictly' ever.
"I think [Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman] are both amazing but I do believe there should be a man presenting it too."
While James' wife Ola Jordan has retained her place among the dancers on the show, she is now doubtful she will be back next year.
She said: "I don't know if I'll come back. This is my ninth series doing the show and I've always said I'd do 10 but now I'm not sure."
And Ola hinted she was unhappy to be partnered with wildlife presenter Steve Backshall.
She said: "You work with the partner you're given. I didn't expect Steve but I was pleased to get him.
"Am I confident about him in the competition? Um. Yeah."

Jodie Marsh blasts Barbie for boob jobs

Jodie Marsh has blasted Barbie for encouraging young girls to want boob jobs.
The 35-year-old star - who has had surgery on her breasts and nose - blames the fashion doll for wanting to go under the knife from a young age because the figurine looks "like perfection" in comparison to rival doll Sindy, who she describes as Barbie's "ugly mate".
Speaking ahead of her new documentary, 'Jodie Marsh on Plastic Surgery', she exclusively told BANG Showbiz: "I blame Barbie for when I was a child. I had Barbie and Sindy. Sindy kind of looked real, although her head was really, really, really, big, but Barbie didn't look real at all - she looked like perfection.
"But as we know, if she was made into a human in that proportion she'd look like an alien.
"So I would put far more blame on Barbie than I would on any celeb for me wanting a boob job. I was thinking, 'Sindy is like the ugly mate and Barbie is the one I want to look like.' "
Jodie admits that while she has no regrets about going under the knife, the programme has put her off ever having plastic surgery again.
She added: "Filming the episode was really emotional, it was a massive journey for me. I know why I had my nose and boobs done. I don't regret it at all. I thought long and hard about them, it was never an easy decision.
"But I was happy with the outcome and I moved on with my life. I'm certainly not addicted to surgery, I haven't had anything since and don't want anything done. It has put me off having anything in the future, not that I was planning anything.
"It was really upsetting seeing other people's reasons. You meet someone who is addicted to surgery and you think, 'Oh, they are a bit weird or a bit mental.'
"You can't really understand why someone would want to deform their face by having so many different things done to it. But when you hear their story it makes it understandable. It was really upsetting. I cried a lot.'
Jodie Marsh's new documentary series - which includes 'Jodie Marsh On Mail Order Brides', 'Jodie Marsh On Lying, Cheating Men' and 'Jodie Marsh On Virgins' - airs on TLC Tuesdays at 10pm, starting with 'Jodie Marsh on Plastic Surgery' tonight (14.10.14).

Belinda Stewart-Wilson wants more Inbetweeners

Belinda Stewart-Wilson would "be there like a shot" if she was asked to star in more 'Inbetweeners'.
The 'Evermoor' actress has become best known for her role as hapless Will McKenzie's attractive mum, Polly, in the E4 sitcom and admits she never expected the programme to be so successful and as a result she still feels "grateful" to have starred in the show.
She exclusively told BANG Showbiz: "It was such a big part of my life now and such fun doing the second film that I didn't expect it to happen - just really grateful to be in it actually.
"If I'm asked to do a series or another movie, I will be there like a shot."
Belinda admitted she still gets recognised by fans of the show when she is out and about but they never know what to say to her.
She added: "They don't have much to say apart from, 'Oi, it's Will's mum!' And then I have to remind them that she is a fictional character, I'm actually just an actress. They're all very affectionate towards her."
The 43-year-old star is currently appearing in the Disney Channel live-action series 'Evermoor', in which she plays an American mother, and the raven-haired beauty admitted she loved getting to grips with putting on a US accent throughout the series.
She added: "I really enjoyed that, I thought it was really fun. It was a nice challenge. I really, really enjoyed it. Hopefully it was OK!"
'Evermoor' is on Fridays at 6pm on Disney Channel UK.

Jake Quickenden: Stevie Ritchie and Chloe Jasmine getting close

The X Factor's Jake Quickenden says romance may be on the cards for Steve Ritchie and Chloe Jasmine.
The 26-year-old hunk - who is one of the contestants in Mel B's boys category on the ITV talent show this year - has revealed two of his competitors have grown close over the past couple of weeks.
Quizzed on whether any romantic relationships were beginning to form in the house they're all staying in, he exclusively told BANG Showbiz at the 2014 Attitude Awards: "I don't know. There are a few little budding romances kicking off in there.
"I don't know if I should ... Well I'll just say Stevie Ritchie and Chloe Jasmine seem quite good friends.
"There's nothing going on but they really get on. It's actually quite sweet to watch. They're both really nice people and they're both really friendly and they get on really well. I'd love to see a Stevie-Jasmine."
Jake failed to get past Nicole Scherzinger's judge's houses stage of the competition in 2012 but auditioned again this year and was put through to the live shows by mentor Mel B, but he's now admitted it's hard not to let the pressure of performing every week get to him.
He explained: "Yeah it's a little bit more [nerve-wracking] as I've made the live shows this time. It's a bigger platform, bigger show. Everybody watches it on a Saturday night. I'm trying to keep my cool and remain me."

Karren Brady warns of ‘mass firings’ on The Apprentice

Karren Brady has warned there will be "mass firings" on 'The Apprentice'.
The 45-year-old businesswoman - who acts as Lord Alan Sugar's right-hand woman on the BBC One entrepreneurial reality series - has revealed that starting with 20 candidates rather than the traditional 16 to celebrate the 10th anniversary series meant for even more dramatic sessions in the famous boardroom.
Speaking at the launch of the tenth series at London's Ham Yard Hotel, Karren told BANG Showbiz: "It was good for Alan because it's a serious prize. When we've all left the show and gone on with our separate lives, he's still in business with them and his name's on the door and he's in partnership with them so he has to pick the right kind of person.
"And I think his view was that with that amount of people he can say, 'Look, you're never going to make it, leave'. And there's some mass firings ... You'll see some mass firings."
Karren - who along with 'Countdown' presenter Nick Hewer follows the two teams of candidates as they embark on their business related tasks each week - admits it was difficult to keep track of what so many people were doing.
She explained: "It's very busy. There are twenty people and everybody wants to be heard and everybody wants to say their piece and everyone wants to have a reason to go into the boardroom and tell Alan how wonderful they are and it can get quite manic on the road."
'The Apprentice' kicks off tonight (14.10.14) on BBC One at 9pm and will then air every Wednesday - including tomorrow (15.10.14) - at 9pm.
