Rufus Hound: Vincent made gay kiss easy

Rufus Hound says he and his 'Cucumber' star co-star Vincent Franklin could "absolutely go for it" with their gay love scene in the series because they're both straight.
The 35-year-old actor has a guest appearance in episode four of the new Channel 4 series which sees his character Rufus romantically pursue Vincent's alter ego Henry.
Show creator Russell T. Davies told Rufus he would be required to act out a homosexual love scene before he accepted the part and he was glad he got to do it with Vincent, who is heterosexual and married with kids, because they're own sexual preferences "freed" them as actors.
Rufus - who is married to Beth Johnson, with whom he has two children - said: "In acting, there should be absolutely no difference in whoever you're kissing as long as it's part of telling a story. So the point that there were any kind of caveats about kissing another man is just old fashioned nonsense bulls**t ... We (me and Vincent) could both absolutely agree on though that it was incredibly liberating ... The lovely thing about working with Vincent, us being both straight men, was that we were meant to be playing these two guys absolutely into it and turned on - so we could just absolutely go for it, because there was never a sense of from either of us that feels like, 'Oh you're really getting off on this.' We were freed up for it to be as steamy as we could make it."
Rufus has long been an admirer of Russell's work - which includes 'Queer As Folk' and 'Doctor Who' - and he was desperate to be cast in the series as soon as he was told the TV mogul wanted him in the programme, despite knowing he'd have to get naked on screen.
In an interview with the new issue of Gay Times magazine, he said: "It was a dream come true working with Russell. (My agent) tells me I'm playing a gay man and it's very physical and I have to get naked. But I'm like, 'Yeah, but it's for Russell T. Davies, so it's fine.' "

Alexander O’Neal found Celebrity Big Brother ‘unbearable’

Alexander O'Neal found the stress of 'Celebrity Big Brother' to be "unbearable".
The 61-year-old singer opted to leave the reality TV series after he was given a formal warning by producers for using homophobic language aimed at celebrity blogger Perez Hilton.
Alexander told the show's host Emma Willis: "The stress became unbearable. I did it for myself and for my housemates."
The 'Criticize' hitmaker - who became the third contestant to leave outside the show's usual elimination process, following the departures of actors Jeremy Jackson and Ken Morley - said he didn't want to stop other housemates from having a positive experience.
Of his clash with Perez Hilton, Alexander said: "Perez is gonna be Perez and do what he gonna do.
"He taunts you."
However, Alexander also told the host of the Channel 5 show that the house is less intense than viewers may realise.
Asked whether housemates are always on edge, he replied: "No not constantly, living with 11 or 12 housemates, you're bound to have moments, everyone has them."
Despite the controversial nature of his departure, Alexander insisted the show has broadly been a positive experience.
He shared: "I've had my moments, for the most part it was a great experience.
"I'm grateful to Big Brother for giving me the opportunity to be part of something like this."

Coronation Street star Anne Kirkbride dies aged 60

Coronation Street's Anne Kirkbride has died aged 60 after a short illness.
The actress, who joined the ITV soap in 1972 and played the part of Deirdre Barlow, passed away peacefully in a Manchester hospital, the broadcaster has confirmed.
David Beckett, her husband, and the cast and crew of the show were said to be "heartbroken and deeply saddened" by the news.
Kieran Roberts, the executive producer of 'Coronation Street', said: "We feel blessed and honoured to have known her.
"There are no words to describe the sense of grief we feel at Anne's passing. We know only too acutely how much Anne meant to the millions of people who watched her create the legendary character of Deirdre Barlow.
"She will be greatly missed by the Coronation Street team who share happy memories of working with her. Our thoughts are with David and their family."
Meanwhile, Peter Fincham, ITV director of television, said: "Anne has been a truly loyal servant to Coronation Street since joining the programme in the early 1970s.
"She created a unique and unforgettable character in Deirdre Barlow and she'll be greatly missed on and off screen.
"Our sincerest condolences to Anne's husband David and her family at this very sad time."
William Roache, who played her on-screen husband Ken Barlow, said: "I feel Anne's loss so personally having worked closely with her for over 40 years. She was such a loving and vibrant person. You always knew she was there because her laugh was never far away.
"She was an impeccable performer with superb comedy timing and an immense gift for really heightened drama. We had some rows over the years as Ken and Deirdre and it was wonderful to play those scenes opposite her.
"Coronation Street has lost one of its iconic characters and Anne will be greatly missed."

Julie Hesmondhalgh excited by Corrie mentions

Julie Hesmondhalgh still gets excited when her former 'Coronation Street' character is mentioned on the show.
The 44-year-old actress played transsexual Hayley Cropper on the series for 15 years before she left in 2014.
Despite being gone for over a year, Julie still hasn't been able to fully let go of her character and is always thrilled when Hayley's name is uttered by her widower Roy Cropper (David Neilson) or anyone else in Weatherfield.
She said: "The show was such a big part of my life. I don't think I've quite processed my departure. I still watch the soap when I can and I get a real kick every time my name is mentioned on the show as it keeps Hayley alive; it means she' still going strong."
Hayley - who was the first transgender character to be featured in a British soap opera - was killed off last January in an emotional emotional pancreatic cancer storyline which dealt with the moral issues of euthanasia.
Julie was stunned by the reaction her final storyline prompted among viewers and she felt it was an incredible end to time on 'Coronation Street'.
Speaking to You magazine, she said: "I was so upset when I watched the episode when Roy spreads Hayley's ashes in Blackpool; I was in bits. All the same, the time was right for me to go and the work I did on 'Coronation Street' has paved the way for me to do other amazing things."
Julie can next be seen in new Channel 4 drama 'Cucumber', which has been written by former 'Doctor Who' showrunner Russell T. Davies.

Russell T. Davies wants to create Doctor Who film

Russell T. Davies wants to write a 'Doctor Who' movie.
The 51-year-old scriptwriter was responsible for reviving the sci-fi show in 2005 but stepped down as executive producer in 2010, handing control to Steven Moffat.
Although he has refused multiple requests by Steven to write a new TV episode, Russell thinks a spin-off film would be "glorious" and he would love to be involved if it happened.
Asked if he thinks there should be a 'Doctor Who' movie, he said: "Yes, I think it should be in cinemas immediately, it would be glorious. Imagine queuing up for the cinema for a 'Doctor Who' film, I would be there with a sleeping bag.
"Would I write it? Yes please, if we could get the lawyers and the contracts. I would do that because I think there's a big leap to be made."
Russell expects his movie comments will probably spark widespread panic with 'Doctor Who' bosses.
In an interview with Graham Norton on his BBC Radio 2 show, he added: "I can hear the 'Doctor Who' office with their heads in their hands going, 'Shut up Davies!' I just realised where I am, broadcasting to the nation, they'll kill me for that."
The 'Cucumber' creator recently revealed he still watches the programme "absolutely religiously" and thinks Peter Capaldi is "glorious" in the role of the Doctor, but he is too busy with his own new projects to return in any capacity.
Quizzed on whether he'd ever write another episode, he said: "Wouldn't that be nice? The lovely Steven invites me every year to come and write one. And I love him and I love them and I love watching it, but here I am, moving on. I love 'Doctor Who' with all my heart but nothing is more important to me than my own stuff."

Coronation Street bosses to recast role of Bethany Platt

'Coronation Street' are to recast the role of Bethany Platt after deciding to axe actress Katie Redford from the role.
Katie had been chosen to portray the returning character but following the revelation she is 25 and not 19 bosses have fired her from the soap for being too old to play the teenager.
A spokesperson for the programme said: "'Coronation Street' has taken the decision to recast the part of Bethany Platt."
Katie had only been announced as the new Bethany by ITV last week and had not shot any scenes on the cobbles yet.
After she was described as 19, many examples of proof of her real age were posted on the internet, with one online CV stating her date of birth as March 2, 1989. Katie's Twitter username had previously been 'katieredford89' before being changed to her current handle 'Katieredfordtlc'.
The search for a new Bethany will start straight away as the 14-year-old character and her mother Sarah-Louise Platt are due for a major storyline on their return in the spring.
It is believed that bosses already have another actress in mind for the part.
Before her departure in 2007, Bethany had been played by three different child actresses - Mia Cookson, Amy Walton and her sister Emily Walton.
Tina O'Brien is returning as Sarah-Louise after seven years away from Weatherfield and she cannot wait to rejoin her soap family.
She previously said: "I am delighted to be returning. Sarah has a lot of history and unfinished business on the street and I'm looking forward to finding out what she's been up to and why she's returned home."

Cara Delevingne wants Coronation Street cameo

Cara Delevingne wants a cameo role in 'Coronation Street'.
The 22-year-old model - who is also trying to make a name for herself in the music industry - has confessed to being a huge fan of the soap and has reportedly asked her agent to set her up with a guest role on the ITV series.
A source said: "Cara loves Corrie and would like nothing more than to appear on the show.
"She never misses an episode no matter where she is in the world.
"She's got so much going on at the moment with her modelling. Plus she's trying to make it as a singer. But Cara doesn't want a serious acting role, she's just told them she'd love to just make a short appearance, even if it's just for a charity event."
Although Cara's team are worried a role on 'Coronation Street' "wouldn't suit her image", the blonde beauty - who previously starred in the 19th century drama 'Anna Karenina' - is certain she wants to appear on the show
The source told the Daily Star newspaper: "Her people are wary because they think her being in the show wouldn't suit her image.
"It's funny because people would expect her to be more into shows like Downton Abbey, but it's Corrie that she loves. Cara knows all the characters and loves the dramatic storylines."

Jamie Oliver expecting fifth child?

Jamie Oliver's wife has hinted the couple are expecting their fifth child.
The 39-year-old TV chef - who has kids Poppy, 12, Daisy, 11, Petal, five, and Buddy, four, with wife Juliette 'Jools' Norton - is said to be set to add another tot to his brood after Jools admitted she had been designing her own Moses basket.
She said: "There's this Moses basket I designed that I haven't been able to test personally yet. It would be nice to put it to use."
Jools - who married Jamie in 2000 - also shared that the TV chef has started a new fitness regime in response to comments about his weight and puts in early morning sessions before starting work in a bid to stay in shape.
However, the 38-year-old stay at home mum hopes the 'Jamie's 15-Minute Meals' star doesn't push himself too hard.
She told The Sunday Times newspaper: "I'd rather he was healthy than get a six-pack and have a heart attack".
Meanwhile, Jamie recently opened up about his battle with a lack of sleep, and after confessing he once averaged three-and-a-half hours a night, insisted he has come to terms with the problem.
He confessed that living the unhealthy lifestyle for a decade had caused him to put on weight and stopped him from functioning like a regular person.
Jamie explained: "'For the past decade I've been averaging about three-and-a-half hours a night.
"It got to a point this summer where I had to do something. I knew there was something wrong with me.
"On a fundamental level I wasn't functioning like a normal person.
"I'd sit down in the office, fall asleep and start dribbling. Not pretty. Not good.
I've got healthier and I've got more energy. I'm sharper in my head and more sober in the way I think."

Sir Tom Jones shouts at Jeremy Kyle

Sir Tom Jones reportedly shouted "Who the f**k is that?" at Jeremy Kyle.
The 'Voice' judge is said to have scared off the 'Jeremy Kyle Show' host backstage after filming the BBC One singing competition, leaving the 49-year-old presenter to retreat to his dressing room.
Sir Tom is said to have been chatting loudly to fellow judge Ricky Wilson when Jeremy stuck his head out of his door to ask whoever was disturbing him to keep the noise down.
However, Jones is said to have pointed at him and bellowed: "Who the f**k is that?"
A source shared: "Tom and Ricky has been filming some scenes and were walking along backstage having a bit of a laugh and a joke.
"Tom's a larger-than-life character. He's got a booming voice and a very distinctive laugh.
"He was obviously making a bit of a racket and he disturbed Jeremy Kyle, who was trying to get a bit of peace and quiet backstage.
"When he opened the door, he had a foul look on his face and was obviously going to have a right go. But he was completely taken aback when he realised he was about to shout at Tom Jones."
The 74-year-old legend is said to have had no idea who Jeremy was during the incident at Manchester's Media City, where both 'The Voice' and 'The Jeremy Kyle Show' are filmed.
The source added to The Sun newspaper: "Jeremy is quite a big noise in British TV and almost everyone would know who he was. But when it comes to superstardom, he's not in the same league as Tom Jones.
"Rather than row, he turned and scuttled back into his dressing room. Tom and Ricky just carried on as though nothing happened."
