Jeremy Clarkson is close to signing a three-year deal for 'Top Gear'.
The 54-year-old presenter could be set to front the popular BBC Two show for another three years despite being involved in a number of controversial incidents over the past year.
A source shared: "All indications are the contract with BBC Worldwide will be renewed shortly and is likely to run for three years."
The outspoken journalist - who presents the motoring show alongside Richard Hammond and James May - reportedly receives a huge fee of £1 million as well as a further seven-figure sum from BBC Worldwide for the job.
And despite receiving a number of calls for Jeremy to be sacked, BBC director-general Lord Tony Hall appears to be in no rush to replace him.
He told Radio Times magazine: "It's a programme loads of people love and it's important the BBC doesn't have just one voice."
Meanwhile, the stars of the show have started a campaign to help musician Steve Harley pay off a speeding fine.
They have encouraged viewers to download his hit single 'Make Me Smile (Come Up And See Me)' after he was caught travelling at 70 miles per hour in a 40mph zone and handed a £1,000 penalty.
Speaking on Sunday night's (25.01.15) 'Top Gear' Richard said: "Imagine if everybody did it - he would wake up tomorrow and think, 'I'm number one, where did that come from?' It would cheer him up."
The track - which Harley recorded with his band Cockney Rebel in 1975 - has since shot up the iTunes download chart.

Gary 'Gaz' Beadle was terrified of appearing on 'Ex on the Beach'.
The 'Geordie Shore' star - who stars in the upcoming second series of the MTV reality show - has confessed he worried about which of his former partners would confront him on the show, as he's had so many one night stands.
The lothario also admitted he was left confused during the series - which sends a group of singletons to an island to find love before introducing their exes - as he didn't even remember one of his former partner's names.
He said: "I was worried about who would come in because I have been with a lot of birds.
"Every time I went to the beach I was like, 'Who is it this time?' And I worried I was going to be there for months.
"Honestly, one girl came and I didn't even remember her. I didn't know her name and couldn't recall sleeping with her."
One ex-girlfriend Gaz, 26, was certain to remember was his 'Geordie Shore' co-star Charlotte Crosby who will also appear on the show.
Charlotte, 24, recently confessed she was devastated when she found out Gaz had a new girlfriend and was reduced to tears when she first saw the pair together.
She told the Daily Star newspaper: "I looked over and he was draped over this lass leaching all over her and snogging her ear.
"He was trying to be a proper boyfriend and it made me cry."
However, Gaz isn't ruling out a reconciliation with Charlotte in the future.
He said: "Three years ago I said I would never sleep with Charlotte again - and then I did. So watch this space."
'Ex on the Beach' starts tonight (27.01.15) at 10pm on MTV.

Michelle Connor and Liz McDonald will clash over Steve McDonald's care in 'Coronation Street'.
The Rovers Return landlady, played by actress Kym Marsh, is set to row with barmaid Liz (Beverley Callard) over how best to treat Steve (Simon Gregson) - who is Michelle's boyfriend and Liz's son - following his revelation he's suffering from clinical depression.
Kym explained: "They both obviously want to help Steve, but because both of them are so worried about him and love him so much, they both want to help him in their own way.
"Understandably, they clash as they're both so concerned about him and want to help him. They both have different approaches with Steve - Liz is more of the tough love approach and tries to get Steve up and doing things, whereas Michelle is much more trying the softly softly approach."
Michelle and Steve split briefly before the devastating mini-bus crash last week as she thought he'd fallen out of love with her because of his strange behaviour prior to him confessing he has depression but Kym thinks their relationship could now become stronger than ever.
She told Radio Times magazine: "Michelle is under no illusions as to how long the road is ahead of them, but she'd do everything in her power to help him and she'd stand by him through thick and thin. She's glad that he's let her in and she's going to be with him every step of the way ... Steve and Michelle are meant to be together and I think they will find happiness again."

Michelle Visage has hinted 'Celebrity Big Brother' may be fixed.
The 'RuPaul's Drag Race' judge suggested on last night's (26.01.15) episode of the Channel 5 reality show that gossip blogger Perez Hilton had been offered a place in the final three as part of his contract.
The raven haired beauty's claims came after Perez staged a fake walkout from the house as part of a secret task in which he must watch his housemates from a secret room.
Discussing whether or not they believed he'd truly decided to quit the show, Michelle claimed the controversial star had "bragged about being promised a place in the final three as part of his agreement".
Listening in on their conversation, Perez - who has referred to himself as a "finalist" and insisted he will be on the show "until the end" on numerous occasions - exclaimed that he'd never made such a claim.
However, disgruntled viewers - including One Direction's Louis Tomlinson - have since taken to social media to express their anger at the idea of a fix.
A Twitter user with the handle @mummybancroft1 wrote: "@bbuk no I think we need to see @PerezHilton s contract you can't take our votes if you pay them to be in the final 3 that would be a fix (sic)."
Louis added: "Better not be true about Perez's contract!!"
Meanwhile, Perez could be a given a free pass to the final of the show as viewers will be able to vote to either have him nominated for every eviction after tonight's (27.01.15) - which will see Nadia Sawalha, Cami Li, Patsy Kensit or Katie Hopkins sent home - or to give him immunity from them all.
A statement on the Channel 5 website reads: "Do you want him to be eternally nominated or given a pass to the final? Which one? You decide."

Perez Hilton could be given a free pass to the 'Celebrity Big Brother' final.
The US gossip blogger - who is currently spying on the house from a secret room after staging a fake walk out - will see his fate decided by viewers, who can decide whether he should be nominated for every eviction after tonight's (27.01.15) or if he should be granted immunity from them all.
A posting on the show's website yesterday (26.01.15) said: "Love him or hate him, you can't ignore him and tomorrow night during the live show Perez will re-enter the house and discover that you have decided his fate.
"Do you want him to be eternally nominated or given a pass to the final? Which one? You decide."
Viewers who want to be a part of the controversial twist can cast their vote via the official app.
Perez will learn his fate when he enters the house tonight following the eviction of either his only ally Nadia Sawalha, model Cami Li, actress Patsy Kensit or his nemesis Katie Hopkins.
Cami was only put up for eviction as she, Katie Price and Kavana all tied with one nomination each, so Big Brother asked Perez to choose which of the trio should join Nadia, Patsy and Katie.

Meghan Trainor was hungover when she performed on 'The X Factor'.
The 21-year-old singer performed her hit single 'All About That Bass' on the final of the ITV show in December last year but the blonde star has admitted she over-indulged slightly the night before and felt a little worse for wear as a result.
She said: I was here for 'The X Factor', but I just flew in, performed and flew out.
"I was so jetlagged when I did the show - and hungover!"
The blonde beauty also confessed she's had to give up eating pizza all the time because over-indulging in the calorific treat and travelling a lot was making her ill.
She added to OK! magazine: "I used to get sick a lot, too. I wasn't the best - I was eating pizza and travelling a lot and not sleeping - so I started eating chicken and broccoli to clear my lungs, and I don't get sick any more.
"But there are a lot of things you have to adjust your body to.
"Overnight I was a pop star instead of spending ten years learning how to tour, so I had to jump right into it."

Heather Mills has broken every bone in her body.
The 47-year-old star - who was previously married to The Beatles star Sir Paul McCartney - believes her career as a Paralympian will give her an advantage on 'The Jump' because she knows what she is and isn't capable of.
She shared: "Name any bone in my body - it has been broken. Normally I'm in hospital every two months, and this is the first season I haven't had an injury.
"You either become braver and more tenacious or you give up, as injuries are part and parcel of skiing. But it's definitely an advantage, because I know what my capabilities are and I'm highly competitive with myself. I focus on what I'm doing and what I can do with my leg."
Heather confesses she was reluctant to sign up for the Channel 4 reality show, however, as she knows certain tasks will be more challenging for her as she has a prosthetic leg.
She explained: "I got asked to do 'The Jump' last year but I was training for the Paralympics so there was no way I could do something that would risk injury. Then, when I heard it involved a ski jump, I thought, 'Absolutely no way - that's insane'.
"The weight of the prosthetic is much heavier than your own leg, so if you stay in the air for too long you start to turn."
The blonde beauty - who was advised by her pal Sinitta to take part in the show - also insists she isn't bothered about winning.
She added to HELLO! magazine: "Sinitta said 'The Jump' was one of the best experiences she has ever had and felt like she could jump off anything afterwards. I know I'll enjoy it but I don't think I'll take it too seriously. I've experienced too much in my life, I've got a sense of perspective."

Calum Best appeared to shun Cami-Li on last night's (26.01.15) episode of 'Celebrity Big Brother'.
The model tried to climb into bed with the 33-year-old television personality and attempted to kiss him goodnight and whisper in his ear.
But he responded, telling her, "I don't know what you're talking about," before heading to sleep.
She replied: "Okay. D**k," and left for her own bed.
The cold shoulder given by Calum comes less than a day after the pair were seen cuddling.
She told him then: "I worship the ground you walk on ... It probably looks like I'm giving you some kind of fellatio."
However, their romantic time together was soon ended by celebrity blogger, Perez Hilton, who branded their closeness a "showmance".
Speaking to Big Brother after Perez's outburst, Cami-Li - real name: Camila Figueras - added: "This man can't even hold a friendship with a god damn flower... I can't wait 'til Perez gets the f**k out of here."
Meanwhile, Cami and Calum have previously spoken about what kind of girlfriend she would be to him.
She told him: "You would be the type of guy who would make me crazy."
The model - who was previously engaged to 'The Only Way Is Essex' star Kirk Norcross - then told Calum that she would be wondering why he hadn't kept in touch with her.
Calum then quickly added: "You're wrong, I'm a good dude."
