British Soap Awards scrap Sexiest gongs

The British Soap Awards have scrapped their 'Sexiest Male' and 'Sexiest Female' awards.
After 15 years, the award show - which honours those involved in the United Kingdom's best soaps - has decided to scrap the two gongs in favour of an award for the portrayal of a storyline that involves a wider issue.
A source shared to The Sun newspaper: "The 'Sexiest' awards have been a staple of the British Soap Awards for years, so the decision to axe them was a surprise. But the bosses feel that they were a bit out of date, and didn't necessarily fit with the more serious image they want for the awards.
"This year their aim is to celebrate soap's brilliant actors and actresses - not hunks and babes. And that is reflected in our new award."
Previous winners of the 'Sexiest Female' award include Michelle Keegan - Tina McIntyre in 'Coronation Street' - who was crowned the winner six times in a row and 'Hollyoaks' Roxanne McKee, who received the award twice.
Last year's 'Sexiest Male' gong went to Danny Mac, who played Dodger Savage in 'Hollyoaks', whilst others include four-time winner 'EastEnders' Scott Maslen.
The newly-revamped British Soap Awards will take place on May 16 in Manchester and will be hosted by Phillip Schofield.

Louis Smith: Lucy Mecklenburgh is missing piece of my ‘puzzle’

Louis Smith says Lucy Mecklenburgh is the missing piece of his "puzzle".
The Olympic gymnast has been dating the former 'The Only Way is Essex' star for a few months and says the pair "complement each other well".
Speaking about the 23-year-old beauty, he said: "Everything's great and I'm very happy. Someone to share things with was the one thing missing from my puzzle, so it's lovely to be with Lucy.
"We've been seeing each other a few months, but it feels so easy and as if we've known each other for ages. I've tried to sweep her off her feet.
"She's very driven, busy and a real planner, whereas I'm probably more laid-back because, if I look ahead too much, I get stressed and then I don't do well. We complement each other well."
And Lucy's not the only woman in his life, as the 25-year-old sports star also opened up about his "devoted" mother Elaine, who he has to thank for encouraging him to try gymnastics.
He added to the Daily Mirror newspaper: "I found it hard to concentrate when I was young and I wasn't the easiest kid to deal with.
"Thanks to the devotion of my mum, Elaine, who encouraged me into gymnastics as a way to channel my energy and give me discipline, I found my passion. From then on, there was no stopping me.
"My mum's so important to me, she still helps look after me sometimes by coming over and cooking and helping out with my house, and it's great that she likes Lucy and they both get on."

Charlotte Bellamy gets married

Charlotte Bellamy has secretly got married.
The 'Emmerdale' actress and long-term partner Mungo Denison recently tied the knot with just their three children, Sunnie, 11, Herbie, seven, and Teddie, five, in attendance, and they kept their plans so quiet, even the kids didn't find out until the big day.
A source told The Sun newspaper: "Even the kids didn't know until that morning. But that was exactly how Charlotte and Mungo wanted it. To them, it was the perfect day."
While Charlotte, 42, previously said Mungo "makes everything more bearable", she has also admitted he never tunes in to watch her in 'Emmerdale', on which she plays Laurel Dingle.
She said: "He'll have a look if I make him, but it's difficult to keep up."
While Charlotte's life is going well, things are not great for her soap alter ego, whose addiction to alcohol will be revealed this week.
And show producer Kate Oates recently promised Laurel will go on a "long journey" as she struggles to cope with her problems.
She said: "It's not just about Laurel's alcoholism. It's not just about what that does to Laurel in the here and now and how she and her family deal with that, it's about where it goes beyond that. People will have to be patient and wait and see what happens with that one!
"It's a long journey for Laurel and what we're seeing is that her marriage is really flawed. She's really struggling, but she thinks she has a 'life problem' rather than a drink problem and she's drinking to cover that life problem."

Helen Flanagan asked clairvoyant to predict the sex of her baby

Helen Flanagan asked a clairvoyant to predict the sex of her baby.
The 24-year-old actress, who starred as Rosie Webster in the ITV soap opera 'Coronation Street', is preparing to give birth to her first baby with footballer Scott Sinclair in June, and although the soon-to-be parents have promised to keep the sex of their child a secret until the birth, Helen admits she recently asked a fortune-teller to make a prediction.
Asked whether she's tempted to find out before the birth, Helen said: "It did come into my head, but I thought that would be disloyal. We're both so excited - it's all we think about. Well, apart from Scott's football. I couldn't do that to him - it'd be a bit sneaky."
However, Helen confessed to seeking an alternative way of discovering the sex of her baby.
She told OK! magazine: "I do talk to my baby like it's a boy, but I'd be over the moon if I had a girl. As long as it's healthy. I'm convinced it's going to be a boy - Scott is adamant I'm having a girl!
"I went to see a clairvoyant when I was four months and she said I was going to have a boy. If I'm wrong, I will never believe another clairvoyant again!"

Rita Ora banned from showing cleavag

Rita Ora has been banned from showing her cleavage.
The 'How We Do' hitmaker - who joined BBC One singing competition 'The Voice' as a coach this year - has been told by show bosses to stop flashing the flesh after she sported a t-shirt baring a photo of breasts and was photographed wearing a see-through black knit top which left little to the imagination as she stepped out in London last week.
The 24-year-old star previously came under fire from the show's fans in January when she appeared on 'The One Show' in a plunging white suit jacket.
A source told The Sun newspaper: "Bosses didn't get involved when viewers complained about the revealing suit she wore on The One Show in January.
"But the T-shirt was felt to be close to the mark - and her see-through top took her right over it."
While Rita will surely take their comments on board, a close friend insists she won't be taking the warning too seriously.
They said: "She isn't going to start dressing like a nun. That's not her style."
Meanwhile, Rita bid farewell to her final two contestants Karis Thomas and Joe Woolford on the series when they were sent home on Saturday night (28.03.15).
The blonde beauty was later spotted enjoying a night out at a pub in West London for her boyfriend Ricky Hill's 25th birthday.

Michelle Keegan cuddles a jumper in bed

Michelle Keegan cuddles an old jumper in bed.
The 'Ordinary Lies' actress - who is engaged to former 'The Only Way Is Essex' star Mark Wright - never goes anywhere without a sweater she has worn since she was 14 and always needs to have it with her to feel "comfortable" when she sleeps.
She said: "I like to carry my very embarrassing childhood jumper. I've had it since I was 14 and it makes me feel comfortable. I even sleep with it.
"Mark is really sweet. If I lose it in my sleep or it goes over to his side [of the bed], he passes it back to me.
"It gives him comfort knowing that I've got that with me at all times because then he knows I'm settled and comfortable. It's called Fluff."
Despite being a regular fixture at glamorous events, Michelle hates walking the red carpet and feels "terrified" every time she has to step out.
She told Look magazine: "I like to be quite chilled and I just get really stressed [getting ready for the red carpet].
"I don't really like the red carpet, it terrifies me.
"Everyone thinks it's going to be amazing but when you get out there it's just horrible. Once the red carpet part is out of the way, I can breathe again."

Marnie Simpson: Ricky Rayment isn’t the ‘jealous type’

Marnie Simpson says Ricky Rayment isn't the "jealous type".
The 'Geordie Shore' star has been dating 'The Only Way Is Essex' star since they hit it off at the National Television Awards earlier this year and she insists he has no problem with her hanging out with her former flames and male co-stars including Gary 'Gaz' Beadle, Aaron Chalmers and Scott 'Scotty T' Timlin because he doesn't get jealous.
Asked if he worries about her spending so much time with them, she exclusively told BANG Showbiz: "No, he's not really the jealous type. I'm really happy."
The brunette beauty - who was dating ex-boyfriend Dan Sloane during filming for the upcoming tenth series of the MTV reality show - has already taken Ricky, who previously dated his TOWIE co-star Jess Wright, home to Newcastle with her to meet her family.
Quizzed on whether she'd introduced him to her parents, she said: "Yes I have, they love him."
Marnie's comments come after Jess claimed Ricky had an "agenda" with his new girlfriend and questioned whether their romance is genuine.
She said previously: "I don't want to slag him off but I question the agenda (of his PDAs with Marnie). It's not my problem though and I wish them well. Good luck to them."

Patrick Blake to be diagnosed with motor neurone disease

'Hollyoaks' character Patrick Blake is to be diagnosed with motor neurone disease (MND).
The head teacher, played by actor Jeremy Sheffield, will become the first main character in British soap history to be living with motor neurone disease when the diagnosis of the incurable condition is revealed early next month.
Reflecting on the heartbreaking storyline, Jeremy said: "I'm honoured to have been involved in some of the shows biggest storylines over the last couple of years. I hope Patrick's upcoming journey will captivate people's hearts and minds.
"Patrick recognises his symptoms of MND but he is in denial, having seen his father deteriorate and die of the same illness he is unable and unwilling to fully accept the truth.
"He endeavours to keep his diagnosis secret, as admitting the truth could jeopardise his chance of getting full custody of his beloved baby daughter, Minnie.
"For Patrick the idea of not being in control, of relinquishing his power is unthinkable and it will be interesting to see how the man who needs to control everything and everyone in his life copes with something that he cannot influence."

Jeremy Clarkson to make Top Gear return?

Jeremy Clarkson plans to make a 'Top Gear' comeback in Australia in a few weeks.
The 54-year-old TV presenter, who was dumped by the BBC last week, plans to travel to Sydney with James May, 52, and Richard Hammond, 45, to host the show in front of 40,000 fans over two days, although he may be forced to scrap the 'Top Gear Live' name.
The events are set to be staged on April 18 and 19, with a source telling the Sunday Mirror newspaper: "Talks are going on to try and ensure this event goes ahead. The main priority is the thousands of people who have bought tickets.
"The feeling in Sydney is that the three presenters want to do it, thousands of fans who've bought tickets want to see it, so just get it on."
Four tour dates in Norway were scrapped last week after the BBC announced it would not be renewing Clarkson's contract, but the corporation's commercial arm BBC Worldwide could face a huge lawsuit if the events in Australia do not take place.
Indeed, the shows have sold 200,000 tickets across the world and are set to make as much as £11 million.
