Penelope Wilton is "not upset" about the end of 'Downton Abbey'.
The actress - who plays Isobel Crawley in the period drama - accepts that all TV shows have a natural lifespan and accepts Julian Fellowes' decision to end the TV show after six series.
Speaking to RadioTimes.com, she said: "I'm not upset about it. When something has run its course, it's good to end on a high note ... And we have to move on from 1926, and if we moved on much further I'd be dead!"
Although 'Downton Abbey' is coming to an end, Penelope's working relationship with Julian may continue as the screenwriter has admitted he will consider casting stars from that show in his new project 'The Gilded Age' - which will be set in late 19th century New York.
Speaking about working with him again, Penelope said: "Well, we'll have to see. You can't second-guess Julian."
Shortly after it was announced that 'Downton' was ending, Julian revealed he'd like to bring it back but set the series in the 1970s.
He said: "It would be quite fun if in 10 years, when we've all forgotten about it, it came back as 'Downton' struggling in the 70s or something similar."

'Britain's Got Talent' star Wendy the singing dog has a remote controlled mouth.
The pooch and her French owner Marc Metral shocked the audience and judges when they appeared to join each other in a rendition of the 70s hit 'Feelings' on Saturday night's show (11.04.15) landing them a place in the semi final.
However, the secret behind their incredible act has since been revealed with ventriloquist Marc using a remote controlled mouth to give the impression his pet was talking.
The ITV show's judges were astounded when the dog appeared to have a conversation with her owner before belting out the tune during the auditions with Amanda Holden telling Marc he had made "television history".
Even show boss Simon Cowell was impressed and labelled Wendy's talent "unbelievable".
He said: "Wow. I don't know how she does that. How does she know the words? Unbelievable."
It has since been revealed by The Sun newspaper that the remote control technique was first used on the American version of the talent show in 2012.
Todd Oliver and his French bulldog Irving are said to have astounded judges on the series three years ago using a similar remote control false nose and mouth which was placed over the pooch's face.

Danniella Westbrook's ex-fiancé Tom Richards has been arrested for allegedly assaulting and harassing her.
The 25-year-old MMA fighter was arrested on Sunday morning (12.04.15) in Swansea, Wales, and after being held in a cell for 11 hours, Tom was bailed at 7pm as the police continue their investigations.
A spokesperson for Tom strongly denied the accusations, saying: "There is no truth in these allegations and we will be challenging them.
"This is supposed to have happened where Danniella lives in Essex but Tom can prove he was here in Swansea at the time.
"It is upsetting for him because he is training for a fight and could do without the distraction.
"Due to the seriousness of these allegations that's all we can say at the moment."
And following his release from police custody, Tom tweeted: "Finally getting into bed after such a long day, cheers for all messages will reply tmz on here and other social media,#TeamBabyBoy (sic)."
The arrest was made after the 41-year-old 'Hollyoaks' actress claimed he had been violent towards her, posting an image of her bruised hand on Twitter.
It is the second time he's faced claims of violence against Danniella, having previously been accused of giving her a black eye, but on that occasion, he was released without charge.

Gemma Oaten has split from her boyfriend of five months.
The 'Emmerdale' actress - who battled anorexia as a child and teenager - is said to be trying to remain "strong" after boyfriend Andy Barnes reportedly ended their relationship due to the strain of life in the limelight.
A source told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "Gemma really thought Andy was for keeps. He was being very intense and had been with her at her family home.
"Then last Monday he turned round out of the blue and ended it. It was bit of a shock to say the least.
"But Gemma is a strong woman, she has been through a lot and won't let this get her down. It is especially difficult for her as her Granddad passed away recently."
The 30-year-old star, who plays Rachel Breckle, previously spoke of how she fell for Andy after he tried to charm her by revealing he'd starred in three episodes of the ITV soap, not realising she'd been in it for three years.
She said at the time: "It was funny. He was trying to impress me with his three episodes but he didn't know what job I did.
"His poor face completely dropped when I said. He asked, 'How many episodes?' and I was like, 'Nearly three years'.
"I would love nothing more than to have kids. I am very maternal. But not just yet, I've been playing a lot of catch-up.
"I've just met a wonderful man - it's my time at the minute and our time. My sister had her third kid at 38 so I know there is lots of time."

Philip Glenister could be set to replace Jeremy Clarkson on 'Top Gear'.
The 52-year-old actor and motoring fanatic is reportedly being lined up by the BBC to take on the role of lead presenter in a "massive revamp" of the show after Clarkson was sacked for allegedly punching a producer.
An insider said: "Philip is a real man's man, so we know he will appeal to the viewers who tuned in because they liked Jeremy.
"But we also know he has a lot of credibility because he is a genuine car fanatic, and is clearly very comfortable talking about them."
Glenister became well acquainted with a number of old-school cars while playing DCI Gene Hunt in the BBC's 'Life on Mars' and 'Ashes to Ashes' and the broadcaster is said to believe the success of the shows is evidence of his popularity.
The source told The Sun newspaper: "It also helps that he is considered a friend of the BBC.
"'Life on Mars' and 'Ashes to Ashes' were both massive hits for the channel."
The 'Mad Dogs' star has previously appeared on 'Top Gear's Star in A Reasonably Priced Car segment and also teamed up with one of Clarkson's former co-hosts Richard Hammond for a Children in Need sketch in 2008.
The insider added: "There are more experienced hosts being considered, but they just think he would be a really good fit for next year's 'Top Gear'.
"They are planning a massive revamp, but at the same time they don't want to reinvent the wheel - it still has to appeal to fans."

Sheridan Smith was reminded of her brother's battle with cancer while making 'The C Word'.
The 'Cilla' actress plays cancer victim Lisa Lynch in the new BBC drama and admits a scene where she had to be carried out of a bath brought back memories of her brother Julian, who died of cancer aged 18 when she was just eight-years-old.
She said: "We weren't sure whether to put it in until the last minute because Lisa was so upbeat and light. But you have got to show it for real.
"I remember Mum and Dad carrying Julian up and down to the bath. So it is very real. You have to show that."
Lisa began writing a blog of her battle with cancer after being diagnosed in 2008, leading to her book 'The C Word' being published in 2010.
However, after asking Sheridan to portray her in the upcoming 90-minute TV film, Lisa's cancer returned and she died in 2013.
Speaking about being asked to take on the role, Sheridan - who hopes to inspire women to get tested - told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "She [Lisa] went, 'Only you can play me', and I have saved that text. I think maybe she saw something in me I don't see in myself.
"Everyone loved her and obviously we had a different ending originally. It ended with her making her book.
"I thought, what an honour I have to play her. But I am so pleased I did it and if it makes one girl check her boobs and carry on her legacy I will be happy."
The blonde beauty also confessed she felt as though she needed therapy for real after Lisa's death.
She added: "It was the therapy scenes I found the hardest. When I first read the script it was a different happy ending.
"So to then go back and do therapy sessions [just before she died].
"Maybe I needed therapy? I've said it. It was cathartic."

Alesha Dixon thinks Natalia Kills is a "vile human being".
The 36-year-old star has revealed she was happy when the former 'X Factor New Zealand' judge got fired from the show last month after launching a tirade of abuse against a contestant and accusing him of copying her husband and fellow judge Willy Moon.
Speaking at the 'Britain's Got Talent' launch, Alesha told BANG Showbiz: "It was absolutely disgraceful. I watched it back because I heard so many people talk about it and I just thought it just showed what a vile human being she is. I mean, honestly, who can sit there and do that and get away with it? Well, she didn't, she got fired. Good, it was disgusting."
While the 'Breathe Slow' singer isn't a fan of Natalia's approach to judging, she has confessed that her fellow 'Britain's Got Talent' judge Simon Cowell has become much more "laid back" since his girlfriend Lauren Silverman gave birth to their son Eric in February 2014.
Alesha said: "He's more laid back in himself. He's still quite honest and direct as a judge, but I think that's what we like about him, and why the public fell in love with him, because he's the person who says what you're thinking, whereas some of us would be a bit more tactile and sensitive. Simon just hits it straight down the line and I like that about him, so he still is that guy but I think he's laid back now."

Kit Harington's 'Game of Thrones' costume smells of "wet dog".
The 28-year-old actor - who plays Night's Watchman Jon Snow in the fantasy drama - has donned the same cloak in all five series of the show and admits the garment has seen better days.
He said: "When it rains, the cloaks smell like wet dog.
"I think I wear the same costume I've always worn since halfway through season one - the cloak has got years of s**t on it now."
Despite its dark subject matter, Kit insists working on the show is a lot of fun and he has made a number of close friends.
He said: "We have such fun, us in the Night's Watch. We're good friends now.
"The hours we spend in a freezing green room [between scenes] chatting s**t to each other up at Castle Black are as important, I think, for the scenes we do being brothers-in-arms.
"I mean, this isn't a Lars von Trier movie. It's a fantasy and if you can't laugh at yourself in a cloak, you've missed the point."
The hunky actor particularly enjoys the sword fighting scenes.
He told heat magazine: "I really enjoy it now. It's all about deftness of movement, fluidity and knowing exactly where the sword is to be drawn and brought down."

Dermot O'Leary hopes to establish a new career in Hollywood.
The 41-year-old presenter, who recently quit his job as the host of 'The X Factor' after eight years, is currently looking for an agent in the US as he embarks on a long-held ambition to present TV shows in the country.
A friend said: "He would be loved there.
"Dermot knows it is a tough market but it is something he is looking into seriously. He knows he has to get a US agent first."
What's more, the move would mean Dermot would see more of his wife Dee Koppang, who's a TV producer and director who spends a lot of her time in the US.
The source told the Sunday People newspaper:"He has complained he doesn't see enough of his wife, so it would solve that problem.
"This is his time to grab the opportunity. It's something Dermot has always wanted to do."
Meanwhile, 'X Factor' boss Simon Cowell recently expressed his admiration for Dermot and suggested they'd work together again in the future.
Reflecting on his departure, Simon said: "Dermot's cool. However, he did a lot of years.
"I think he wanted a change. I respect that.
"He'll always get work, he's a very talented guy and we'll do stuff together."
