Peter Davison says Peter Capaldi has been welcomed into the "exclusive" 'Doctor Who club by the men who played the Time Lord before him.
The 64-year-old actor - who portrayed the titular character for three years from 1981 to 1984 - has met up with current Doctor Capaldi and he's proud the Scottish star is now part of a very elite group of actors to have took control of the TARDIS.
Speaking to BANG Showbiz, Davison said: "I did get to interview Peter when he was in the middle of making (his first series) which was very interesting. We, the Doctors, do meet each other at fan events and other things - I obviously meet up with some Doctors more than others. It is a very exclusive club that we're all in."
When asked what the all the Doctors speak about when they see each other, Davison laughed: "Well we don't talk about the intricacies of time travel or anything like that!"
Before adding: "We certainly share experiences of what it's like to be Doctor Who and how that affects your life in general. That comes into the conversation a lot, but we don't discuss the ins and outs of any particular thing."
Fifth Doctor Davison - whose son-in-law David Tennant portrayed the Tenth Doctor - watched Capaldi's first series in the role last year and admits he has loved his interpretation of the character and enthusiasm for the part.
He said: "I've watched nearly all of Peter's episodes, I think he's a great Doctor, I love him.
"I love him because he's a big fan of the series. I enjoy his take on it which is, 'Is the human race actually worth bothering with?' For the humans it's like, 'What have we done to deserve him paying us any attention at all?' It's an interesting take on it."
Davison will soon be seen acting as the presenter of 'The Doctor Who Symphonic Spectacular'.
The production showcases the evocative and thrilling music written by composer Murray Gold for the BBC One sci-fi series since 2005 and features over 100 performers including the BBC National Orchestra of Wales.
Davison will be responsible for introducing the music and will also have to deal with several of the Doctor's enemies, including the Daleks, the Cybermen and the Silence, and he admits he can't wait to get on stage and have some "fun" with the audience.
He said: "We will have a bit of fun with the Daleks and a bit of interaction with Ben Foster who is the wildly enthusiastic conductor of proceedings. I give him a bit of a hard time and insult him a little bit, but we have a lot of fun and the audience join in the spirit of it. It's not a tough job, it's a very enjoyable job and I'm very happy to be doing it."
'The Doctor Who Symphonic Spectacular' starts on Saturday May 23 at the The SSE Arena in London.

"At least one Louis" is expected to join 'The X Factor' judging panel.
Simon Cowell hinted earlier this year that he and Cheryl Fernandez-Versini would be the only members of last year's panel to return for the next series of the ITV singing competition.
However, it's now been suggested that Louis Walsh could also return to his seat unless One Direction heartthrob Louis Tomlinson agrees to replace him.
The betting shop William Hill have slashed their odds on Simon and Cheryl returning from 1/10 and 1/12 respectively to 1/33.
Meanwhile, Rita Ora - who was a mentor on rival BBC show 'The Voice' earlier this year - and Louis Walsh have odds of 8/11 and 5/4 respectively, making them third favourites.
And Louis Tomlinson, Robbie Williams and past judges Tulisa and Mel B are also said to be in with a shot according to current bets.
William Hill spokesman Joe Crilly said: "There are pros and cons for all of the candidates in the betting and ultimately, it will be down to Simon to select the panellists. We also think there will be one Louis on the panel, we just aren't sure whether it will be Simon's best pal, Mr. Walsh, or Mr. Tomlinson."

Amanda Holden's sister will be returning home from Nepal in "a couple of days".
The TV presenter spoke to her sister Debbie on the phone live on 'This Morning' with Phillip Schofield, and said that she's now at the bottom of Mount Everest, which she was climbing when the earthquake happened, and is now waiting for a small aeroplane to take her to Kathmandu to get a flight home.
Debbie said: "We've heard that there's a lot of trouble in Kathmandu because there aren't many flights. We were waiting up in the mountains until we had definite flight possibility, and we've heard that we can get a flight home in two days, which is why we've decided to come back down."
Debbie - who was climbing with a friend - also revealed that the walk back down had been "tricky", having had to do two days worth of walking in one day.
She said: "It has been quite a tricky walk back down, we're absolutely worn out, we did two days worth of walking in one day today, so we could get the flight. Fingers crossed we get back to Kathmandu".
Debbie added that, while the area she's in hasn't been as badly affected by the earthquake as other parts of Nepal, she's seen some people carrying 104 kilos worth of supplies "just to repair their houses" on her way back down Mount Everest.
She said: "We've met many people who are carrying supplies and things back, some people with around 104 kilos of supplies just to repair their houses. This area is not as badly affected as other areas, fortunately, but we've seen a lot of devastation on our way back today."

Mark Wright and Michelle Keegan have banned guests from bringing mobile phones to their wedding.
The former 'The Only Way Is Essex' star is set to tie the knot with the 'Ordinary Lies' actress next month and it's now been revealed the couple are planning to enforce a ban on mobile phones after signing a deal to have a magazine exclusively publish pictures from the big day.
A source told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "Mark and Michelle have been very firm with guests at their wedding - under no circumstances are they allowed to take photos during the day. It's paramount that the first pics appear in all their glossy glory in the mag."
The 28-year-old hunk and his former 'Coronation Street' star fiancee - who have invited a number of their showbiz pals including their former co-stars - also banned their friends from posting photos of their hen and stag dos, although some snaps have since leaked.
Their decision comes after a number of other celebrities, including George and Amal Clooney and Katie Price, banned non-official photos from being taken at their wedding ceremonies.

Kerry Katona "feels a lot sexier" now that she's lost a stone in weight.
The 34-year-old star has slimmed down from 10st 3lbs to 9st 3lbs since the end of last year, and has revealed how she managed to lose the weight.
Kerry said: "I ditched sugar and blitzed my booze belly. I feel a lot sexier walking round the bedroom in my underwear now."
The former 'I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here!' winner also confessed that the reason for her wanting to lose the weight was to "feel good" in her clothes again, having put on a stone last year after giving birth to her fifth child Dylan-Jorge with husband George Kay in April.
Speaking to Closer magazine, Kerry said: "I wanted to be healthy and feel good in my clothes again. My tummy feels firmer now, and I feel sexy and confident. My bum's perkier and my stomach is flatter, too. Given the fact I've had five kids, I think I look alright!"
Last month, Kerry - who also has children Lilly-Sue, Heidi, Molly and Maxwell from previous relationships - admitted she had confided in her Atomic Kitten bandmates that she was worried she wouldn't be able to handle the gruelling dance routines of a live show.
Her bandmate Liz McClarnon said at the time: "I broke the news to Kerry that being on tour means we will be on stage for an hour and a half without an interval, and her reaction was hilarious.
"She kept saying how exhausted she is going to be and she's worried it will be harder than she remembers from before."

Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond could be set to start their own band.
The former 'Top Gear' host and his colleagues - who've hinted they too will not be returning to present the BBC show after Clarkson was sacked - are said to be musically talented and could turn to forming a trio if they fail to continue with their TV careers.
'Top Gear Live' stuntman Andrei Burton - who revealed Jeremy plays the drums while James plays keyboard and Richard the bass guitar - told the Daily Star newspaper: "The lads love letting their hair down by jumping on stage and playing in a band. It's a good laugh and they're actually pretty good. Who knows, they could do it professionally if it all goes tits up."
However, it's also been reported that James and Richard are in discussions about a "variety" of new shows with the BBC following the broadcaster's decision to sack their pal Clarkson after he attacked a producer and left him with a split lip.
BBC2 controller Kim Shillinglaw told Radio 4: "Conversations are ongoing with James and Richard about a variety of projects at the BBC and, while those conversations are ongoing, they have to remain private.
"This is a really creatively exciting moment. It's a good time to look at all aspects of the show."

Amanda Holden learnt to live a "happy life" after having therapy.
The 'Britain's Got Talent' presenter sought professional help after the birth of her stillborn son in 2011 and welcoming a baby girl in 2012 while suffering from severe medical complications, and credits the decision with helping her get her life back on track.
Amanda - who has two daughters, Alexa, nine, and Hollie, three, with her husband Chris Hughes - said: "It makes you suddenly think, I have to live. I've got to live, but I've got to try and live a good, happy life for me too and I think that's why I faced up to the fact that I needed to speak to somebody.
"She was very good at giving me sentences to say to myself to make me stop panicking about my own mortality. I think you have none of these worries unless you've got children.
"If it had just been me and Chris and I'd died, it would have been awful for him but nowhere near as bad as a child losing their mother."
The 44-year-old presenter added she is no longer "allowed" to have any more children due to fears of further complications during pregnancy.
She told Good Housekeeping magazine: "I'm not allowed. I would be dead the next time. And I think Chris would say you can have them but you're not having them with me.
"I've got the two I'm supposed to have. I just had to complete my family to feel like I could be me."
The blonde beauty - who wed record producer Chris in 2008 - gushed over her hubby and credits him with changing her life "for the better".
She explained: "The minute I met him, my life changed so much for the better. He has a great perspective on life. He makes me stop, he's given me my children and literally stood by my death bed and I really fancy him...How I feel about Chris still feels new."

Carly Rae Jepsen would be "tempted" by the role of a judge on 'The X Factor'.
The 'Call Me Maybe' hitmaker has revealed she'd love to act as a mentor on a British talent show such as Simon Cowell's ITV singing competition, but only if she makes the move from the US to the UK.
She said: "If I got to live in London, then I'd be tempted to be a judge on one of your singing shows. I love the shopping and people in London."
The 29-year-old singer was lucky enough to have Hollywood actor Tom Hanks feature in the music video for her latest track 'I Really Like You' and she's revealed he was like an uplifting "cheerleader" on set.
She explained: "Tom was joking with all the extras and kept everyone's spirits up when the dancers had to do take after take.
"He got everyone in a huddle and was like a cheerleader, going, 'OK, let's do it again!"
Carly's latest single has proved to be yet another hit but she's admitted she tried not to worry about recreating the success of 'Call Me Maybe' when she made her album 'E.Mo.Tion'.
She told the Daily Star newspaper: "My motivation is to have longevity in my career, rather than having a big hit song again.
"It wasn't until I started getting loads of calls from management about 'I Really Like You' that I realised I might be single."
Meanwhile, 'The X Factor' is currently undergoing a shake-up, with Simon previously hinting that he and Cheryl Fernandez Versini will be the only judges from the last series to return later this year.
