Nick Grimshaw's 'X Factor' appointment has been hit with a massive backlash on Twitter.
It was announced that the BBC Radio 1 Breakfast Show host and 'How We Do' singer Rita Ora would be joining Simon Cowell and Cheryl Fernandez Versini on the judging panel for the next series of the ITV singing competition yesterday (16.06.15) but fans of the series have since expressed their disappointment at the announcement.
One fan, Jack Cooper, tweeted: "Nick Grimshaw judging musical talent is like having someone from a takeaway who assembles kebabs judging food on Masterchef #XFactor (sic)."
A Twitter user named Gagasfroots added her own displeasure at Mel B and Louis Walsh being replaced, writing: "I hate Rita Ora and Nick Grimshaw isn't talented. Talk about a downgrade from an actual spice girl."
The show has been troubled by its fierce ratings war with BBC rival 'Strictly Come Dancing' and in a bid to remedy the decline in viewing figures it has experienced over the past few years it was announced the show would be going through a shake up this year.
However, hundreds of fans have now claimed they won't be tuning in following the news that Nick and Rita are to mentor contestants.
Viewer Hope Merrimen tweeted: "Well I was going to be watching #xfactor this year until Grimmy was announced for it. (sic)."
Others on the social media site expressed their doubts about Nick because of the problems he has faced at Radio 1.
The DJ has continued to lose the Radio 1 Breakfast Show listeners since taking over from Chris Moyles in 2013.
As of this May, 800 000 listeners have switched off from the week-day-morning program in the last year alone.
Radio DJ Mark Denholm commented: "I wonder if Nick Grimshaw will lose the #XFactor viewers the same dramatic way he's lost Radio 1 listeners. (sic)"
However, some fans are willing to be far more open-minded, rallying the critics to give the new judges a chance.
Ross McClymont tweeted: "So much hate towards Rita Ora and Grimmy. So much for giving people a chance. I liked Rita on The Voice and Grimmy deserves a shot. #XFactor (sic)"

Chris Evans texted Jeremy Clarkson to let him know he'd been asked to replace him on 'Top Gear' before he was announced as the new host.
The BBC Radio 2 DJ has revealed he sent messages to all three of the BBC Two motoring show's former hosts, his pals Jeremy, Richard Hammond and James May, as well as former producer Andy Wilman, before the announcement was made last night (16.06.15).
He said: "Before it was announced I texted Jeremy and James and Richard and Andy and I've heard back from all of them.
"James called me back straight away, within a minute of me texting him, and we had a chat and we're going to meet up today and tomorrow and talk about things and who knows what might happen there.
"Then Jeremy texted me ... He said, 'I knew you would, best of luck', and then he gave me a piece of advice which I'm not going to repeat on the radio and then Richard texted me back and he said, 'You were designed and built for that job, it'll be great'."
The 49-year-old star also insisted he was only offered the job last week despite being linked to the role immediately after it was announced Clarkson had been sacked for punching a 'Top Gear' producer in a row over a steak.
Speaking on 'The Chris Evans Breakfast Show' on BBC Radio 2, he explained: "I got a text and it was from Mark Lindsay who is the head of entertainment for BBC Two and basically it said would you be interested at all in having a 'Top Gear' conversation.
Now I have never been or had never been offered the 'Top Gear' job before that. I had one brief text exchange about 'Top Gear' with somebody fairly high up at the BBC and it was when what has now become infamous happened and that was very short, very concise, them saying if anything happens in the future would you be up for a conversation so the text that I received on Thursday was pretty similar to the one I received three months ago or whenever it was ... And I so I called Mark Lindsay back and Mark explained to me that the situation had changed in the last 24 hours because Richard and James had finally ruled themselves out of the return to Top Gear."
Chris - who discussed the future of the show while on holiday with James a few weeks ago - also claims he was hoping both May and Hammond would agree to continue presenting the show without Clarkson.
He added: "Before that they were very much considering returning, the BBC had made an offer to them, I was aware of that and I wanted them to return, I wanted 'Top Gear' to carry on as a family and I thought that's what was going to happen so whenever I said I categorically rule myself out of running for office it was because I didn't want to be a pawn in a chess game involving two, in fact three, of my friends."
Meanwhile, the final two episodes of Clarkson's last series of 'Top Gear', which was cut short earlier this year after he was sacked, have been put together to create a special one-off episode and will air on BBC Two on June 28.

'The X Factor' are to cut their live shows down to seven.
Show chief Simon Cowell is planning a number of changes to this year's competition, with the finals being reduced by three weeks, in-room auditions ditched from the show completely, and arena try-outs taking place only in London and Manchester.
The filming changes have allowed new judge Rita Ora to be able to commit to the show as she can fit it around her own recording schedule, The Sun newspaper reports.
The 'I Will Never Let You Down' singer - who was previously a guest judge in 2012 - joined the show from 'The Voice' after having secret meetings with returning panelist Cheryl Fernandez-Versini, who convinced her to sign up.
A source said: "They are both girly girls and are going to stick together."
Despite their shortened workload, it has been claimed the judging panel will cost more than ever, with both Rita and fellow newcomer Nick Grimshaw being paid £1 million for their services, while Cheryl will land £1.8 million and Simon gets a huge £4.2 million.
However, despite earning far more than she made on 'The Voice', the 24-year-old singer is said to be "angry" at claims she is joining its rival for the money.
A source close to Rita told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "Rita is adamant she is not moving for money. She is angry and insistent that she started as a guest judge on 'The X Factor' and is going home. She has a new album this autumn and it all fits.
"But if it was all just about money she wouldn't be on the show and would be going around the world making millions from endorsements and more live performances."

Danny Dyer's daughter pretends to be Shirley Carter when helping him read through his lines for 'EastEnders'.
The 37-year-old actor, who plays Queen Vic landlord Mick Carter in the BBC One soap, has revealed his eight-year-old daughter Sunnie likes to take on the role of his husky-voiced mother when she helps him to learn his lines.
Danny shared: "I think Sunnie would be a brilliant actress. She runs through my lines with me sometimes."
However, the 'Football Factory' star has no plans to pressure Sunnie into following him and his older daughter Dani into acting.
He continued: "At this point, though, who knows because they change so much between eight and 12 years old. She's still into her Barbies but she's got a very good imagination."
Danny has had a tumultuous relationship in the past with the mother of his two daughters and 19-month-old son Arty, Joanne Mas, and admits that although having their eldest, Dani, when they were just 18 and 19-years-old respectively saw them break up for a short time, he thinks she also kept them together.
He explained to OK! magazine: "She was a big part of it. There's no greater bond between two people than when you have a child together. Dani was a major part of pulling me back because we were a little threesome, and of course me and Jo adore each other."

Dean Wicks will face the consequences of his sexual assault in 'EastEnders'.
The character - played by Matt Di Angelo - shocked viewers of the BBC One soap when he was seen raping Queen Vic landlady Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) but Matt has revealed Dean will be punished for his actions.
Insisting viewers shouldn't feel too much sympathy towards the character following revelations about his father and daughter, Matt said: "We wanted to show that those people live on, and how it affects their life.
"Viewers will see him being punished on a daily basis."
However it won't be the punishment viewers would have hoped for as Dean - who has been a troubled character ever since arriving on the Square in 2006 - won't be getting the judicial punishment he deserves.
He added: "The vast majority of these people don't face judicial punishment and that's one thing 'EastEnders' really wanted to get across."
Instead, Matt has promised Dean will face a different kind of punishment for his terrible actions.
He told Inside Soap magazine: "There are other ways for Dean to be punished, like getting physically abused by Mick, or having his financial or personal life attacked."

Chris Evans is to host 'Top Gear'.
The television and radio presenter has been given a three year contract and will lead an all-new Top Gear line-up, following Jeremy Clarkson's sacking from the show after a "fracas" with a producer earlier this year.
Speaking about his new role, Chris said: "I'm thrilled, 'Top Gear' is my favourite programme of all time. Created by a host of brilliant minds who love cars and understand how to make the massively complicated come across as fun, devil-may-care and effortless. When in fact of course, it's anything but and that's the genius of Top Gear's global success.
"I promise I will do everything I possibly can to respect what has gone on before and take the show forward."
Production on the new series is to begin in a few weeks and Kim Shillinglaw, controller of BBC Two and BBC Four is "delighted" with Chris' appointment.
She added: "I am so delighted that Chris will be presenting the next series of 'Top Gear'. His knowledge of and passion for cars are well-known and combined with his sheer inventiveness and cheeky unpredictability he is the perfect choice to take our much-loved show into the future.
"Chris is a huge fan of 'Top Gear' and has great respect for the craft and work ethic of one of the best production teams in the world. He knows the phenomenal attention to detail it takes to make a single sequence of Top Gear, let alone a whole series. He is already full of brilliant ideas and I can't wait for him to get started."

Ola Jordan will quit full-time dancing when she gets pregnant.
The 'Strictly Come Dancing' star has revealed she is desperate to have a child with her husband James, and plans to abandon the show and her dancing career once she becomes a mother.
Speaking about the prospect of having children, after the pair admitted they are "practising a lot", James said: "It's in the foreseeable future. Dancing is our life and Ola's always said if she has children she wouldn't want to go back to it full-time, your body changes and it's hard travelling with a child."
Rumours recently emerged suggesting the 32-year-old dancer was already pregnant, but she quickly quashed the speculation by attributing her expanding waistline to a leg injury she sustained during training for the winter sports show 'The Jump', as it meant she was less mobile.
She explained: "We went to an event, I looked a bit round. People were looking at my tummy and I knew what they were thinking. Then I got a call from my agent saying the press wanted to know if I was pregnant. So I thought, 'I'll just put it out there ... You know what, I'm just fat!"
Meanwhile the busy couple - who married in 2003 - are set to appear together in fly-on-the-wall series 'Seven Days With...' which gives viewers a look into the lives of celebrity couples.
Ola told New! magazine: "We thought it'd be good to do something different. We have nothing to hide!"

Gemma Oaten was left bruised after filming dramatic 'Emmerdale' scenes in which she attacks her on-screen boyfriend, Sam Dingle.
The actress has recently been shooting episodes in which her character Rachel Breckle is bullied by her former lover Jai Sharma (Chris Bisson), leading to her turning her anger towards Sam, and has been left with visible marks on her skin.
During an appearance on 'Lorraine', the presenter pointed out: "You've been throwing yourself into it, you're all covered in bruises."
Speaking about the scenes, Gemma admitted her character's storyline is "very full on" and she finds it frightening to think about.
She explained: "I was filming yesterday. I can't give too much away but it's very, very full on at the minute. It's a little bit scary and the storyline is a big responsibility because obviously it's very close to the bone, and unfortunately affects thousands of people out there."
The 31-year-old actress continued to say she hopes the episodes will shine a spotlight on the topic of domestic abuse.
She said: "I think what's interesting and what I'm hearing from the viewers on this story is there's no real black and white with it all.
"I think what we're trying to do is show the emotional side of the abuse as well the physical, as we saw last night. You know and obviously get people talking and having discussions about it."
And the soap star also revealed her father got in touch following Monday's (15.06.15) episode because her character had looked so furious.
She added: "Me dad said last night 'Your nostrils were flaring, you were getting really angry weren't you!' and I was like, 'Oh brilliant, cheers dad!'
"Hopefully me and James and Chris are going to do this one justice."
